  1. I've always held off buying the Finemolds kits as I've been thinking there surely must come along a better series of 109s. I've been waiting for a few years now, so perhaps I will have to buy one. I fully expect Eduard or Tamiya to announce a full series of F/G/Ks the day after I get it.

As far as I know Eduard is planning to release Bf 109G (and maybe F and K) in the future...but we'll have to wait very long...at least according to Vladimir Sulc. And Tamiya...well they protect their planss better than Uncle Sam protects gold in Ford Knox.

  2. Nigel, there is a set dedicated to Malta (some Spitfires, Hurricanes, Gladiators included).

I really like the "Tiger" squadron set. It's huge, with lots of options (for those who love ragwings, true aircraft (you now Spitfires  ) and "hair driers"). But next sets (Nos 41, 111, 1 etc) are not as interestng. Too few options IMHO.

So if you read this topic, please Hannants, go back to orignal Idea.

    My suggestions are: (before mentioned) 92 squadron, 43, 72, 73, 17, 145, SAAF 1.

  3. I'd love a 'History of 92 Squadron Sheet' - lots of interesting subjects there: Spitfires in TLS, DFS and Desert schemes flown by the likes of Geoffrey Wellum, Tich Havercroft and Stocky Edwards; then post-war Meteors, Sabres, blue Hunters, and Phantoms.

Second that, a lot. Yet I'm afraid that no-one at Hannants reads this topic.

  4. I don't know why, but I'm a bit sceptical about the 2nd quarter. I remember them saying end of summer 2015, then autumn-winter 2015, now 2nd quarter. I'm a very patient bloke, who doesn't have much time nowadays for modelling, and my decals are patient too :) But the note about the division of parts is a bit worrying. If it's the same as per 1/48 there might be some issues with canopy and closing fuselage. But we'll see.

Dominik, still impatiently looking forward to new 1/72 Spitfires.

  5. Just one question to Hannants, although I don't expect the anwer (don't know why, just a feeling). Is there any chance for the third part of 'Fighters over Africa and the Med" in 48th scale with options from 72nd decals not included in Parts 1 and 2? Same with Spitfire sets in 48th with options not included in part 1 and 2 (which strangely gave only 4 options).

Oh, by the way. Don't use GR-U squadron code letters - the shape is incorrect, although I had pointed it out to Jon before the releasing the set. Unfortunately my suggestion was not listened to.

First of all, it's good to hear that you are well now. I wish you all the best with your health 'cos it's the most important thing.

Now to main, modelling, point. I don't remember exactly where, but I've heard that new KP Spitfires Mk.I/V are not actually new, but retooled old AZ Model short run models. I think that's only a gossip, isn't it? It's great that you've decided to design normal span wings. The design in Mk.VIII/IX was not a good idea.

Nowadays I very carefully choose models to buy, but I'm gonna buy one of your Mk.I and one Mk.V to check. When can we expect them?

Next thing. What about P-36? I think it has been 3 years since we first saw profiles for the boxes. Is there any progress?

I have one suggestion, if I may. Can you consider designing and releasing completely new, HQ metal form Dewoitine D.520. So far there have been only very simple Hasegawa, even more simple Hobby Boss and a model for the most patient modellers by RS. I think it's the time for new, long run, model.

Once again, it's good to hear that you've recovered.

    Cheers

  7. Great kits. Eduard's Spitfires have some tricky issues - wheel bays, wings fit and instrument panel which in my VIII is far too wide and now I have almost 1mm wide gap in front of the windscreen. But the most illogical issue is all this cutting some parts of the fuselage to instal canopy. I rally don't understand that. In a real plane they didn't cut anything.

  8. My FW 190 arrived yesterday but I only have time to unpack it today. At first glance everything looks fab, but the second glance reveals som issues on parts. Prop blades are not so fab. The problem is not huge yet it is. I wonder if the blades change shape after sanding imperfections...or maybe it just Eduard's policy to buy brassin :hobbyhorse: And the shell shutes of the outer wing cannons are not perfect...they look different actually. When I compare FW and Hellcat (or even Bf 110) I must admit that Wurger is of worse quality. I have strange feeling that mould production was outsourced...I remember that Eduard showed Avia's moulds but I can't remember them showing Wurger's ones...

    Cheers!

  9. Actually it's not a big surprise that there are some problems with Eduard's Butcherbird. I've been building their Spitfire VIII in 48th and the instrument panel is too wide and you have to sand it but not too much because windshield is tad too wide too. But that's the only problem so far.

And I really hope that the problem mentioned by Mike is the only one too.

I wasn't supposed to buy new models and wait for Spitfires but finally I ordered one box two days ago.

Mike any piscs possible to show the issue? TIA

    Cheers

  10. In my opinion Airfix do great job on topics - early Hurricane, Defiant, Blenheim or Beaufighter but, which was mentioned earlier, have a problem with the quality of their products. I've built a few Spitfires in 72nd and there's lot for Airfix to do to reach 21st century quality. Quite recently I started Hurricane and the problems started at the level of wheel bays, not to mention the issue with the wings. I saw problems with Blenheim and Dornier. I think that Airfix should concentrate on quality of their models as the topics are great.
