NIck I'm just building this very Tamiya's Reisen but I just want to be sure about the mast. So next week I can close the canopy and will probably have billions of questions to you about details.

This is the link to the website with the photo: http://ww2db.com/image.php?image_id=13054 The Reisen is Q-102 Houkou 872.

A question to Japanese aviation experts. I'm building an A6M3 Reisen 32 from New Guinea and I'm wondering if I should place aerials (radio and direction finding) on her. I know that very often Japanese pilots had radio aerial deleted, together with the radio, to make a/c lighter. The only photos I've found show only wreck. Maybe someone has the service photo of this aircraft.

A small update. I did what I had planned. Tailplanes and gunsight on their place. But there was a small issue - a gap between wing and a fuselage. To close it I used Evergreen's stuff. What's interesting Reisen 52 doesn't have such problem. Right, here's the pics:

Finally I've found the photos of A6M5 Type 52. The build started at the end of December but the photos were taken on the 18th when much of the gluing work had been finished. It is my first Tamiya's Zero and I must say that it's pure pleasure to build it. As I have more Zeros to build (one 52, one 22 and three 21) I can forecast that this year will be "The Reisen Year" for me, although I don't have much time for modelling. OK, enough talking. Here are the photos. Engine cowling with engine inside: And the latest photos taken last week - canopy and windscreen attached. Those transparent parts are very clear and thin - just piece of art. As I have already received painting masks made by Eduard I can't wait when I'm able to spray surfacer and start painting. Cheers! Dominik

Some time ago (at the beginning of February) I started working on my second A6M Zero (the first one is A6M5 Reisen 52). Unfortunately I don't have much time for modelling so the progress is very slow. All I have done so far is documented on the photos below. First I painted the cockpit: Then assembled wings: Last week I closed the fuselage, did some puttying and sanding, painted under canopy part "black", finished cockpit and join everything together. As for today everything looks lite that: I hope this week I'll attach tailplanes and gunsight. But I'm not sure about one thing. Should I attach aerial mast. The photos of Q-102 aircraft from Buna show her without the mast but it's only a wreck. Does anyone have a photo of this aircraft when it was still in service? Thanks for any help.

A few questions about FAA Hellcats in South East Asia
DominikS replied to DominikS's topic in Aircraft WWII
Graham As Wez said, early F6F-5s had small windows aft the cockpit (same F6F-3). Thank you for help with FN439. So asap I'll start working on my first ever Hellcat. -
Hi ev'ryone Got a few questions about Fleet Air Arm Hellcats. To be precise, I need a type info and camo infoe. Starting from the beginning. I've recently bought DP Casper's decals "Meridian" and there are two Hellcats marked as Mk.II. I just need confirmation as I have no access to any data about British Hellcats. 1. Was Hellcat flown by Lt. K. McLennan (FN439) Mk. I, early Mk.II or late Mk.II? 2. Was Hellcat flown by Lt. Cdr. Shotten (JX758) Mk.I, early Mk.II or late Mk.II? 3. Can I trust Eduard's information about colours used to paint camouflage and lower surffaces? Thank you in advance for any help. Cheers Dominik

Battle of Britain 75th Anniversary GB for 2015?
DominikS replied to Procopius's topic in Group Build Chat 2020
Just seen this thread. I'm in too if there's still a place. -
Damn, I was hoping they announce 72nd Spitfires VIII, IX and XVI not some "hairdryer". Nontheless it's good that they still design 72nd. So now I have to wait another year or so. More Reisens to build.

Anyone? Pleas help me 'cos I wanna build his Spitfire Mk.Vb and his a/c indywidual letter is what I need.

Mark and Miggers thank you for help. I have one more question about Alan Wright's Spits Mk.I. Do you happen to have any photos of his Spitfire QJ-S while they were in Wales (apart the most famous photo from Pembrey with, IIRC, QJ-X and QJ-P). I was wondering if at that time squadron's code letter Q had the same shape as Havercroft's QJ-P or rather Q as on Wright's Spitfire Mk.Ib/Vb QJ-S? Dominik

Hello again I'm writing with another request. Can you help me with the Spitfire Mk.I GR-S issue? I know the famous photo of his aircraft where he's getting out of the cockpit. Does anyone have other photos of his aircraft where it's possible to see the whole serial number? I'll be very grateful for any help. Thank you Dominik

Hello I'm looking for the photo of Don Kingaby's Spitfire Mk.Vb while he was flying with No.92 Squadron. I know that it was the "Darlington Spitfire" but I don't know individual letter of the aircraft. Can you help me please? Thank you in advance. Dominik

Looking for photos of Spitfires from Battle of Dunkirk and Britain
DominikS replied to DominikS's topic in Aircraft WWII
Bob I know that my request is quite broad. I think I should ask for help with the Battle of Dunkirk Spitfires photos. I have the book you've mentioned and Battle of France Then and Now which I had read before I wrote here. I would be very grateful for the photos of Spitfires from Dunkirk period. -
Hi Everyone I'm planning to build as many Spitfires from the Battle of Dunkirk and the Battle of Britain as possible. And although I have some books with photos I think I still need more, especially the Battle of Dunkirk. That's why I've decided to ask you fellow modellers for help. Could you, if it's not a problem for you, post here or send me on my e-mail (dominiks3 at wp.pl) photos of this superb fighter. I'll be very grateful. All the best Dominik PS. The photos are not going to be published anywhere unless permitted.

Sitting this morning and checking for Xtradecal news I've found something very strange. They've just showed pics of their "new" set X72187 which is actually old X72130 with only one extra scheme. Apart of this sole "news" it's the old set. Something's strange in here. According to previous info it was supposed to be Spitfire Mk.V Part 2 which isn't. I have this strange feeleing that they are playing the prank on us which is a pity because generally they have nice stuff.

1/48 - Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb by Airfix - released
DominikS replied to Homebee's topic in The Rumourmonger
Jeez...Why no-one wants tomake Spitfire Mk.Vc. Don't the Airfix guys know that releasing Spit Vc would bring lots of quid/bucks/euro to their pocket. And yet another Vb. But I'll probably buy one to check the quality. -
DeHavilland DH-100 Vampire - new 1/72 model
DominikS replied to petr@SpecialHobby's topic in Special Hobby
Petr Just a one question. When can we expext Vampire release? Test shots look superb. -
Looks nice. So now it would be great to design something from the second world war. The best candidates, IMHO, are Curtiss P-36, NA Mustang with Allison engine and some Spitfires (Mk. Ib and Mk.IIb, Mk.Vc, Mk.XII and XIV). Of course each of us have different candidates. But who knows. In general I'm very pleased that the MPM started making models in "long run" technology. To check the quality I'm gonna to buy their Vampire (although I'm not into jets).

Thanks for info. I'll try to get it, although I can't find it on the Hannants web. As for mistakes I wouldn't be so frustrated if I could design such things myself. Unfortunately I'm not so gifted and I have to rely on producers of decals.
