  1. Hello fellow Pennsylvanian! Welcome, I'm new here as well, hasn't been that long since I joined the forums. What got you hooked into ships? I've thought about grabbing one and giving it a shot however they just seem daunting and I don't want to start it and not finish.... LOL!!!!
  2. Welcome! Ahhhh the Bronco, one of my fav's for sure, vastly underrated, and used very well by the Air Force.
  3. Special place in my heart for those Skyhawks and flying bricks. Great set of photos, I've had a few friends stationed out there. They loved that place. Always something going on.
  4. Only when they are landing and/or checked during pre-flight as far as I know. I never saw them open while parked.
  5. I've noticed that @Keeff everything has improved and it's really cool to see. Now it's learning to stop the shakes so that I can paint a straight line or glue the seam and not next to it... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  6. Thank you all for the warm welcome! Just goes to show how special this community is. @Joanna it's nice to see some PA folks here, makes me feel right at home, thank you ❤️. I purchased an Airbrush bundle on sale from Amazon, it has excellent reviews and was at my price point so why not! I'll let you know how the learning curve is flattening... 🤣. @f111guru from one warrior to another, thank you for your service and sacrifice. We know who the real heroes are. I did 24 in the Marine Corps, last station was at Joint Base MDL in Jersey. Found a small town in PA literally by throwing darts at the state map. Can't beat the smell here in the mushroom capital of the world!!! 🤣
  7. @ColonelKrypton thanks for that in depth, informative, and thought provoking information. I do really appreciate all of it. Getting back in to modeling is very daunting because of all of the advances in models, paints, tools, and glues/cements.
  8. Thanks Bertie! I didn't think I was crazy.... 🤣 Appreciate you my friend and thanks for the welcome, feels good to be here! I currently have Vallejo Model Color. There are so many these days! Used to be easy.... Testor.... LOL!! I need to grow my paint collection for sure. Totally planned on adding some retarder and improver. Once it's mixed the testing starts! Thanks Casey! Appreciate your experienced advise my friend!
  9. I would prefer to make my own Thinner, obviously to save on cost a little. Everyone I've seen uses 99.9% IPA. However, they are cutting it down with water to around 30-33%. Question: Can I use 91% Iso Alcohol or does it have to be 99.9%?
  10. Happy New Year Everyone! My name is Erik, I'm 53 and just starting to get back in to modeling. To say it's been a long time is an understatement (we will leave it at that... 🤣). So just consider me an old man novice. Thank you for accepting me and I look forward to talking to many of you and getting to know you as well. I'm pretty much interested in just about anything. Favorite genre though is aircraft, all aircraft! From the Wright flyer to the F-35, I'm a huge aviation buff and love anything with wings or rotor blades. I'm about to start an Academy F-18 in 1:72 scale and it will be my first to paint in a long time! This will be hand painted. I just got a compressor and air brush combo from Amazon and excited to start learning to use it. I still need to make some home brew thinner and get a few other things. However, I have a good work station, well lit space, and room to grow! I hope to learn a lot from the community and I'm a pretty open book so I will answer any questions thrown my way.
