  1. After a few months of it dusting away in my spray booth, finally got around to finishing it up. Did end up being a lot simpler compared to my previous T-72m1 also from tamiya, but still fairly happy with the results Everything aside from the tracks came with the kit itself out of the box with the tracks themselves being the ones from MENG
  2. by i meant that i couldn't find any for sale here which is why i was considering a diy option
  3. here's an image of the two canopies M3 is the one that came with the mig-23M and M2 coming with the other mig-23 kits from trumpey, there is a line there but seems to just be a mold line
  4. So the canopy that comes with the 1/48 is missing the central strut after some research it seems that the only mig-23 variant that has the canopy missing the central strut is the 23S which is an extremely early version, seems like trumpeter includes the correct canopy for all of their other 1/48 mig-23s but I couldn't find any of the other variants on sale without having to import from overseas. With only having the 23M as an option is there any (simple) way I could fix it so that it's the correct shape? Considered using 0.3mm styrene sheets or the left over material from photoetch. Did also try to see if I could find any aftermarkets that could fix the canopy but alas no results popped up.
  5. A minor continuation, managed to find the wolfpack conversion specifically meant for the Tamiya falcons. My newer question on this is in regards to which type of fairing is present on F-16 Block 52ID. Can't say I'm familiar at all on their practical differences. But I think 52ID uses the C type?
  6. I do wonder if these situations is why gunze released a weaker version of their masking tape. Though putting that aside with how my schedule works out I'm only able to paint around once a week so should be able to report back if it's a matter of curing time when I get around to start the the F-104J (Gimme a month or two). For the 104 there shouldn't be too much masking involved atleast
  7. What were you using for the primer? I'm currently planning on using it over Mr Surfacer 1500 (Gunze's primer) which is a lacquer so it should be decently strong chemically. As for the cleaning i've seen online that it seems like i should be able to clean them up with any lacquer thinner so was just thinking of going with that. And lastly as for safety i do have a spraybooth exhausting the air out and a proper respirator/mask
  8. thanks for the colour recommendations and tips, as for that first bit from the quick search i did, seems like the planned bombing of biak was seen as a potential suicide mission. here's a translated excerpt of an article i found
  9. gonna add a bit more context since i've managed to properly sit down, for the tu-16 i intended on doing it in AURI markings to when they were expected to fight the dutch during operation trikora, i do have a few museum picture of the tu-16 i'm recreating but i'm unsure in regards to whether they've been repainted or not
  10. As the title entails, planning on getting a few bottles of AK Xtreme Metals for a bare metal (well, as bare metal as the JASDF examples are) F-104J and an AURI (or TNIAU using their present name) and i'm not sure on which colours to get for these two topics and what else i should take note of when using the Xtreme line
  11. yeah as mentioned above, this build is practically unweathered since i'm a bit bored of it for the time being, do plan on picking it up again in the future
  12. It's a pretty interesting tank, practically acting as the last of the soviet heavy tanks, started of as the is-5 but then was changed to is-8 before being changed again to the is-10 where it was changed to T-10 during destalinization. Also somehow survived till the mid-90s though only being properly retired in '96
  13. Finished up the 1/35 T-10M from MENG for the most part, it's practically unweathered since i got a bit bored of it but do plan on picking it up again sometime in the future T-10M 456 was based on a tank part of the 9th separate Tank Battalion of the 115th Independent Tank Regiment, 3rd Field Army of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany which was based in Quedlinburg , Germany
  14. After doing some more research seems like a block 32 would be much closer to the Block 52ID. as 52IDs don't have the ridges on the nose that the later F-16C blocks would have. seeing as the kit was designed for the original Kinetic F-16, considered getting the gold series but seeing as they have different mounts, likely gonna go with the tamiya one. as for the tail i intend on sawing off the IFF bit on the panel line and to attach it on tamiya's tail after removing the mount for theirs so chances are i'll likely go with Tamiya's F-16C/N with the resin conversion kit talked about above and water slide decals from a local seller
  15. Been planning on building an Indonesian F-16C for a while now since i've always seen them flyby for independence day for a long time now. Doing some minor research lead me to discovering that our most modern variant is a modernization that vaguely updated our Block 25/32s to Block 52 standard. Such as these ones here Doing a bit more research i did finally manage to find what exactly was done though it was originally in Indonesian used machine translation to translate it quickly Here are the top features of the F-16 Block 52ID: 1. Northop Grumman AN/APG-68 V(9) pulse Doppler radar with programmable processor and VHSIC (very high speed integrated circuit) technology. Its maximum detection range is about 290 km. The radar is multi-mode capable: air to air and air to ground with SAR (synthetic aperture radar), sea surveillance and GMTI (ground moving target indicator) sub-modes. 2. Honeywell H-423 RLG-INS (Ring Laser Gyro-Inertial Navigation System) for navigation accuracy even if the F-16 is in high speed flight. 3. Advanced hazard warning and self-defence systems, including AN/APX-113 Advanced IFF (identification friend or foe) interrogator, AN/ALR-56M Advanced RWR (radar warning receiver) integrated with AN/ALE-47 threat adaptive countermeasure system including chaff and flares dispenser. 4. Latest GPS (global positioning system) device. 5. The latest generation of avionics equipment, including a new modular mission computer, a pair of colour MFDs (multi function displays), Improved Data Modem for faster data transmission, Data Transfer Cartridge, interconnect for night vision devices, UPDG (Upgraded Programmable Dislay Generator), and the latest HSD (Horizontal Situation Display). 6. Digital data communication network link 16 military tactical data exchange network with TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) technology. 7. MIL-STD -1760 data bus for interconnecting and programming the latest generation of precision guided munition (PGM), including data input from the latest targeting pods such as Sniper or Litening, as well as enhancements to the helmet mounted cueing system (HMCS). 8. Addition of an on board oxygen generation system (OBOGS). So from there i decided to look around and did manage to find a resin conversion for a 52ID. I did manage to find this one below which might not be the best but it is the only I've managed to find. though for this I'll likely skip the aim-120s and try to find other options for it So my main question is, considering these were originally built as Block 25s which were then updated to Block 32 when sold to IDAF. would it be better/more accurate for me to use a Block 32 kit for the base or a Block 52? if any additional information is needed on them I'll try to answer them to the best of my knowledge, Additional Info #1: Indonesian F-16Cs are serial TS-1625 - TS-1643
