  1. Hi All, I'm having a few issues with my P51 build I'm hoping someone can help me with. Ive tried to fill some gaps in the area in front of the rear wheel well and also on top of the air scoop, as you can see from the image below its not gone well as I can't get into the small space to sand the filler down. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can resolve this? I'm also not very happy with the paint finish, it looks streaky. I used watered down paint and applied multiple coats but its not come out as well as my previous build.
  2. Hi all, Ive started my second build, a Tamiya 1/48 P51-B. The cockpit sections has been assembled and I've noticed that the kit doesn't come with any seat belt decals. what do you guys normally use for your seat belts, do you make your own or use after market options? Any recommendations would be greatly received. Thanks
  3. I did have some issue with the decals to be honest until I discovered the miracle of Micro set and Micro sol

    Oil Wash Issues

Thanks for the tip. I just used the Revell modelling glue to fix the canopy. I notice a lot if people fit the canopy early on in the build and then mask it, I'll try this approach on the next build. Do you have any recommendations on the best method of masking the canopy, I have masking tape but I've noticed that some people mask it with a kind of green fluid?
  5. So here it is, my first build in over thirty years. I think next time I'll fit the canopy earlier in the build so I can fill any gaps with filler prior to painting. Overall I'm pretty pleased with how its turned out. Tamiya P51 1/48 scale next, looking forward to getting started.
  6. Thanks again for the help, all sorted now I've managed to post my first image

So here is is, my first build in thirty years. The canopy was a little more tricky to fit than I expected but overall I'm pretty pleased with the end results.
  8. Hi All, Could anyone give me some instructions on how to post Pictures into the forum. The only option I see is to add an image from a URL? Thanks

    Oil Wash Issues

Thats great, thanks for all the advice. I managed to clean it up a lot last night with a cotton bud dipped in white spirit, although the wife was complaining a lot about the smell I think it looks pretty good now for a first attempt. I'll post a pic later when I've put the canopy on. Thanks again

    Oil Wash Issues

Hi All, I a newbie here after returning to model making after some thirty years. I'm building my first kit, a 1/72 mk11a spitfire which has generally gone pretty well. Last night I made my first attempt at weathering using an oil based wash, the top of the aircraft looks ok however there is some streaking and unevenness on the sides and bottom which I'd like to correct. I tried rubbing it down with a dry paper towel but this didn't seem to remove any of the wash. Any recommendations on what the best method would be to try and correct the issues? Thanks all
