  1. That explains that then, it is a sit back and wait then.
  2. I've looked at the Trumpeter site and there is no mention of the model in the latest product update here:http://www.trumpeter-china.com/a/en/news/20121212/2290.html Perhaps it is in a 'hard copy' catalogue, which I've not seen
  3. Hi, Not my bag. 1 nowhere to put it. 2 could get 3 good Dragon 1/350 models for that price. 3 IJN - too much around. Price is fair for something that big, so I can't criticise it for that. Cheers, Hugh
  4. Hi, I wasn't far behind you on looking at the site...my conclusions are much the same as yours. The only thing I seem to remember that a special website was going to be setup to handle these subjects, but as there is no link. Also I noticed that production/availability of some subjects were suspended. I know that Dave Moseley had come up a big headache just as he was going to so the masters for the kits, but I have heard no further. What a shame, it seems. Regards, Hugh
  5. Hi Guys, Re the World Naval Ships Forum: do upload pics if you have them. They prefer 300dpi scans and are available to all registered once uploaded. I have to admit a bias here of course. Cheers, Hugh Williams
  6. Nice one Phil, I saw these cruisers at Pompey when I was visiting my aunt and uncle, all those years ago. Don't forget to post on WNSF......great pics. Cheers, Hugh
  7. Hi Adam, I think it is worth looking at the Model Warships survey - i.e. the Dragon Survey - where you will find the top models in the wish-list was dominated by RN, particularly for the top 5. The Model Warship site is American of course. Hopefully, the result of the survey will be translated into actuality! Perhaps what was wanted on the FSM site was somebody to raise awareness of the missed out RN models, and then there would have been somewhat different results. I have been on the FSM polling page and voted RN.....perhaps others should do the same! Cheers, Hugh
  8. Hi Ian, I have to agree there. Incredible work. Cheers, Hugh Williams
  9. Hi, I forgot to post a pic of an Airfix build of HMS Illustrious, taken at Waddington International Airshow in July. Regards, Hugh Williams HMS Illustrious Airfix Build July 2010
  10. Hi, I am one of those optimists, so the appearance of the Dragon survey suggested to me that RN subjects may well be in the offing, given the response! It is amazing that the ship modelling market (and in particular RN subjects) is neglected, but I think that is because people have had armour and aircraft given more profile by the LMS, and perhaps the Makers don't go that extra mile to sell them. However, I have had a couple or more conversations with our cousins across the pond and I think it fair to say that there is a feeling that RN subjects would sell. I know that we can only wait and see what may be coming around the corner. The survey may well have been a dipstick to do both confirm the direction that is being taken by Dragon, and more so, to show that RN is popular. That we can only speculate, which is a bit pointless. Given that Dragon have started producing 1/350 ship kits I hope they are well rewarded with good sales. I don't want the bubble to burst. There is one niggle here. I wonder if when people make a wish list, do they actually buy them on the occasion that the subject is made? I reckon the Gearing models are superb, I hope they are selling well. Same for the Scharnhorst, which since I made Heller's offering I said I wasn't going to make another one. Well, time has trogged on and the Dragon model looks more than just alluring. Hey, and who would have thought that subs would have been sellers...funny that Airfix, Hobby Boss and Bronco are doing RN subs. Lets not forget Admiralty Model Works are doing an Astute as well (in resin). It would appear that Airfix will be giving ground to Dragon if the don't manufacture popular RN subjects, but that is another matter. Regards, Hugh Williams
  11. Hi, Pavel of Admiralty Works responded on our American cousin's channel (?!), he had done most of the development when Hobby Boss announced their Astute, so he continued with the subject. I have asked him if he will do a 'T' Class (2nd group) and an 'A' Class model?! Cheers, Hugh Williams
  12. The Astute is also coming out in 1/350 resin, from Admiralty Model Works. Cheers, Hugh Williams
  13. Hi y'all Good news, although on this occasion there seems to be quite a few wasted votes, when folks put in for any ship of a particular class, rather than actually name the ship in the class. I wonder. At least I think there is a good chance of RN ships turning up at last. Cheers, Hugh
  14. Hi, All this is grist to the mill for the folks who are actually interested in the heritage of these wonderful ships and the equally wonderful courageous crews of the ships. Unfortunately, Airfix/Hornby seem to have a record of missing boats. For myself, I would look to Dragon for RN models of WW2. They have started with Kreigsmarine and logic suggests that RN won't be very far behind. I can only hope this is so. Personally, Trumpeter are inconsistent in their productions, Dragon are more consistent. My preferences for destroyers (RN) are (not in order of preference)1. Battle, 2. Daring, 3. War Emergency, 4. Tribals - I class the Darings as war destroyers, as the design came from the Battle Class, and the design gestation period was during the war. As for the Airfix production potential, it is not clear what is coming from these two ships, perhaps it is too early to ascertain whether they know their market, customers, or are really interested in the subjects they market (perhaps I am unfair here). I suggested to Airfix that they could upscale their 1/600 subjects, which are a perfect subjects. Regards, Hugh Williams
  15. Hi, There is a funny thing with British modelling, and, I hope this is an example of just such. I am thinking of an occasion when I approached the Bachmann Railway Model Stand at Hull and said 'How's about a Jubilee Class loco?'. The reply was firmly no, no, no, and nope! So I went and commissioned a Kit Built loco professionally built job....lots of shekels (I mean lots!). However, not very long after, yours truly is buying Bachmann Jubilees! Will the same game be played out by Airfix? Regards, Hugh
