  1. That’s great information and research Ray, thank you very much. HGW didn’t reply to me unfortunately so I’m not sure where they got their info from or if it was just artistic license.
  2. Thank you all for the replies. It would seem that the webbing seat straps provided by HGW are incorrect and it is a metal seat. I assume they either carried a cushion or sat on the parachute?
  3. I am presently building the Border 1/35 JU87G Kanonvogel and purchased the HGW JU87 135307 sealbelt kit. It has webbing for the rear navigator/gunners seat, and also has a backstrap for the navigator/gunners seat. I can’t find any references to the seat being webbed or the back strap. https://hgwmodels.cz/en/textilni-pasy/1201-junkers-ju87-stuka-seatbelts-135-135307-.html I emailed HGW asking for references or details but have had no reply. Does anyone know if the details are correct please?
  4. As per the title, I am looking for tips on making PE cockpit panels more realisitic, weathered and coloured correctly. When I look at the fret with the PE it looks great but doesnt seem to look so good in the model. The colour seems to be slightly off and there is a graininess to the surface. All in all its not realisitic to my eye. I have looked online for videos but dont really seem to be coming up with anything. I would be interested in your views, tips and tricks and links to help improve this aspect of my modelling. Thank you all
  5. I have bought some small 2mm magnets from Amazon but I’m away on holiday at the moment so haven’t had chance to try them. I will let you know when I make progress but the should work well I think and were cheap.
  6. The engine is pretty much finished and weathered now. What a wonderful kit ! My second model after a 40 year break from modelling and kits have changed for the better thats for sure…. Exhausts just blue-tacked in at the moment since they will eventually be held on though the outside of the cowling via magnets, so they are not actually crooked.
  7. Just started the Border Models JU87 G Stuka 1/35 So far it’s an amazing kit. All the parts fit like a glove and need next to zero sanding and finishing. The odd tiny bit of filler but as near to perfect as you can get, in my limited experience! The engine mounts had holes drilled but one was still filled, yet any pictures online showed them all open. Seems strange that they left one on each mount undrilled, so that was about the only addition I have made so far. The engine is a little fiddly due to the size and the number of pieces but a pleasure to build. It would be nice if Border Models had a paint breakdown so you don’t have to search the web and basically use the Hasegawa plans…… Just need to age it up a little and onwards and upwards. It is difficult to find good open cowl pictures of the Jumo 211 J engine, and particularly the starboard side. The plans show a single oil tank fitted on the outer side on the engine mount on the port side, and yet on one drawing I found it showed another oil tank on the starboard side as well. I couldn’t find any open cowl pictures of the port side though to confirm it, so if anyone knows I would appreciate the information.
  8. It was the first time I had weathered a model. I last built one some 40 years ago as a child. Back then it was fingers and thumbs, a tube of glue and some hand brushed cheapo paints. I guess it will take me some time to learn all the new stuff and to adjust to the right level of weathering effects.
  9. I thought i had gone too heavy in the end
  10. First build since I was around 15-16, Im now 57 so its been a while and things have moved on. Enjoyed it, made a few mistakes, so learnt something. Never used an airbrush before so that was a learning curve as well! Quite a few of my own add on’s so enjoyed the research as well as the build. Not the best but pleased all the same. I have the Border Junkers JU87 Stuka all ready to go now!
  11. Im only just back into modelling, the last one I built was when I was around 16 so quite a few years ago! Things have changed, and I have more patience fortunately. This is the problem I was having.
  12. I think it was less than 24 hrs so maybe more patience is required. I will try some more wash on a patch that is yet to be repainted and see.
