  1. Hi folks,a few more from my younger days,The Canadian Northstars were frequent visitors prior to the Yukon coming into service, the Viscounts were ex BEA on delivery to Brazil I cant remember whether there were four or six transitted but they travelled in pairs. The B47 is the only one to land at Prestwick ,it diverted in due to engine malfunctions, they did try to keep it out of public view as you can see,the C133 was on the US base and the photo was taken from edge of the Scottish Aviation factory. The DC7C was Caledonian Airways 2nd aircraft I believe the first crashed somewhwere in Africa before it got the chance to visit, the DC4 belonged to Skyways and was at SAL for routine checks.Hope you enjoy. Ian
  2. Hi Brian my commiserations, having seen it in real time I know how good the model was.Pity it's such a rare kit as well. Ian
  3. Do you think Maggie still has the hankie. Ian
  4. Sorry folks the C45 went fly about, here it is Ian
  5. Hi Folks ,a few picture I took when a little younger,Prestwick was a US base with a large number of military movements,it also had a few interesting civil aircraft as it was the primary ferry route to Europe and beyond. The Martin 404 belonged to Frank Sinatra, the T33s were on delivery to the French Air Force from Canada, some of these were ex Eurpoe based with the Canadians and were to found hiding in various corners of Scottish Aviation prior to their return to their homeland. These are Canadair built Tbirds, seven of the Caribous just happened to turn up on the same day on delivery to Germany for the US Army The C45 was on delivery to the Algerian Air Force and as you look in the door large numbers of spare parts are apparent. The C47 is I think from Weathersfield and would be the station hack. The DC6 is from NASA and is I believe an ex C118 which would probably have visited before in its Military guise Hope you enjoy them Ian http://i1158.photobucket.com/albums/p610/camper1231/img040.jpg[/img
  6. Hi Mark I have a close up of the tail of this aircraft if it is any help to ,I can imagine some bad language over the flap issue.Very nice work Ian
  7. Lovely build on what is small model, always liked the scheme on Canadian Auroras. Ian
  8. Hi Folks, another one of my Sabres for your enjoyment or otherwise,The Sabre has always been one of my favourites. The saddest sight of all was seeing piles of them at Prestwick airport where Scottish Aviation were contracted to break them up as scrap in the early sixties. Some did escape back to Canada but not very many,I believe that most of the survivors were used for missile testing and destroyed on the ranges in the U.S This aircraft is from 427 Squadron and has the Leading Edge decals applied, painted with good old Xtra colour And toned down using Windsor and Newton acrylic satin varnish. The kit is the 1/48th Academy which goes together very well. Ian
  9. Makes me feel old,I remember the first BOAC training flight into Prestwick in the early sixties.Sad to see them go soon. Ian
  10. Don't tempt me Brian,I've more Sabres than you have Phantoms and we know how many of those you have!!!!!!!!!! Ian
  11. Hi Tony, from memory it is the Revell issue of the Hasegawa kit with the wings modified to the Sabre 4 configuration.I was too lazy to graft the F86D wings and modify them for this one after doing four other ones. Ian
  12. Hi Folks A couple of Seahawks and a Sabre for you,Sabre decals are Model Alliance Seahawks are both Trumpeter kits one with Model Alliance decals the other has the Classic Airframe kit decals applied. Not sure if the Trumpeter kit is any easier to build than the Classic kit.Paints are all Xtra colour with various greys to get the tone on the Sabre. The Sabre 4 is an RAF machine lent to the Canadians pending the arrival of their Sabre5s. Ian
  13. Hi Brian, that two inch paintbrush is still about then, very nice effort Ian
  14. All are 48th scale, first and third are the Occidental kit, middle one is the Monogram one.THanks for your comment. Ian

  16. "Very nice, always liked the Ventura. Can, hardly wait for the RAF version. Ian
  17. Hi Folks More Harvards for your delight or otherwise. The first is a Cambridge University aircraft from the early fifties, decals are home made and it is painted in the usual high speed silver from the Xtra colour range. The second is just a bog standard Flying School aircraft, note the oversize codes,I have two photo's of this machine, looks like some poor painter made a mistake as the second photo dated later shows standard size codes, wonder if he had to repaint it in his own time. The third is from 609 Squadron with the reserve command codes applicable to that Squadron. Ian
  18. This one is the Monogram 48th kit,the camo bits are dark earth dark green control surfaces and panels with the rest in Xtra Colour High Speed Silver.I have an photo I Can scan for you if you send your E mail addressy Ian
