  1. Hi Folks,a query on the colour schemes used by 45 Squadron in Malaya,I have the Freightdog decal sheet for RAF Over Malaya 1948-1955 and have questions about the PRU Blue on the underside of the Beaufighter. All the photo's I have managed to aquire do not show any of the Squadron aircraft in this colour. Can anyone point me in the direction of a photo which will confirm this scheme.Apart from one silver aircraft all the rest seem to be in Sky or Light Aircraft Grey, having been caught out before by decal manufacturers and black and white photo's which are mainly used in their research I thought someone might be able to confirm this scheme. Any help gratefully received Ian
  2. Hi Luis, nice to here from you again, how's the Magister coming along?I will send you photo's of the other two if you send your Email address,I did have it but can't find. Ian
  3. Hi Folks, the title tells it all 18 months of on off production. The kit is the 1/48th RVHP effort and its a very good one. It went together better than a lot of injection moulded kits I have built and that includes some of the newer one recently released.Th aircraft represents an SA16B as based at Prestwick with the 67th ARS in 1961,there were three based there all of which had a different colour scheme. The decals are a mixture of the kit decals and the spares box,the MATS badge came from a fellow modeller in the USA.Hope you like it Ian
  4. Hi Folks,a few more from Saturday at Waddington. Ian
  5. Hi Folks,a few from Waddington on the Saturday.Billed as the RAF's Premier airshow of the year just one question where were they in the static park?If not for the based aircraft I dont think there were more than eight from other bases, why can they pull out the stops for Fairford and not for one of only two displays a year that are RAF displays.I know cost cutting comes into it but for £21 a ticket!!!! RANT over The foreign participation was very good and the Golden Eagles were very impressive move over Reds there's a new kid on the block. The photo's contain the finest collection of cones seen for a while, used to be barriers which you could lean over and get good photo's not this year and why park the most interesting aircraft in the most awkward places.Perhaps I am overcritical as I know how much work goes into these things to make them a success but overall the static was a great disappointment layout wise.Personal opinion only.
  6. Hi Folks, this has been in my box of bits for two years plus,I got sick of filling sanding and generally messing about with it.This is the Classic Airframes 48th kit with the Leuchars Station Flight markings from the Xtradecal sheet. This aircraft carried markings to represent 43 and 151 Squadrons who were based there in the late fifties. The urge to finish it was caused by the price on Ebay of nearly £100 for an unbuilt kit,the worlds gone mad.I was unsure if T7s carried the outer wing walkways on the yellow stripes as all the photo,s I looked at none of the aircreft carried them so I left them off.
  7. Nice build,as a confirmed Sabreholic I appreciate seeing Sabre builds, not enough of them on any forum. Can I ask where you got the decals for the Illinois aircraft that's in your photo. Ian
  8. Should have added the kits are all 48th scale,Classic Airframes Meteor actually bits from three kits, tail from a T7 FR9 fuselage and wings from an NF11 to produce the PR10 The F8 tail will make a hybrid T7.the FW 190 is the MPM kit and theSabre is the Academy kit. Ian
  9. Hi Folks the title says it all the Meteor and the FW190 lay in the parts box for a long time, decided they were worth some work so fixed them up.The Sabre is just one of my long term projects about Canadian Sabres. Ian
  10. Nice build Brian, nearly as old as you!!!!!! Ian
  11. Hi Folks, some more from the trip in 2011,the Macchi is in the downtown mall area of the Smithsonian Museum, easily accessable by using the Metro.
  12. Hi Folks got the year right this time, this is a small museum just outside Pax River Naval Air Station, around 27 aircraft.I was fortunate to get a base tour, some VERY interesting aircraft in there, but no photography allowed. What interested me was there were almost as many aircraft on display inside the base as the museum had on display and not all of the same types in the museum. Ian
  13. Put it down to old age and decrepitude,I like senior moments you get away with anything!!!!!! Ian
  14. Hi Folks,a few from the family holiday last year, good job I have an understanding wife.Hope you enjoy. Ian
  15. The Schiffer book shows the main colour to be black, the side rails are a lighter colour maybe gray. The floor and areas under the controls look to be interior green. If you want I can scan the pictures for you and you can then decide.I have the kit and it looks to be a very good first effort. Ian
  16. Hi Folks,a few more from the Mecca of museums. Ian
  17. The two areas mentioned are on the operational part of the airfield hence the security aspect. The museum is a site on its own. Ian
  18. Hi Folks.a few from the Mecca of museums.only problem with it is its as black as the proverbial Badgers a***.The museum is in three parts with the Presidential and prototype/research aircraft and restoration centre on the far side of the airfield,to visit these you need to submit your passport number and carry it as ID while you visit. The bus trip is free but they only give you one hour per visit. Its easy enough to book two visits though on the same day.
  19. Hi Folks a few more from Quonset point Museum. Ian
