1. Hi Tony In a word yes. Next one is the yellow one you keep on about. Ian
2. Hi Folks Tamiyas Mosquito FBV1 turned into a T3,minimum mods to do this. This aircraft was the Wahn/Celle Station Flight aircraft for a few years and then transferred to 204AFS probably at Driffield then to 231 OCU. Scrapped at Shawbyry 1956,the original photo can be seen in Philip J Birtles book Mosquito The Illustrated History Ian [/url
3. I can always expect something different from you Tony, nice build and lovely decal option Ian
4. Very nice Beau, interesting story as well,my father was a pilot with 143 Squadron for a while. Left 143 to go to Rhodesia as an instructor on Harvards.
5. Hi Folks Another of Monogram's classic Century series fighters. This is a nice easy kit to build as long as you don't drop the missile doors. Finished with Xtracrylic paint and SuperScale decals depicting an aircraft from the California Air National Guard. Ian
6. The problems I had were fitting the nose to the floor, for some reason the parts would not mate. I have built this kit before with no problems perhaps it was me or the kit parts I don't know. The mods were minimal and would not have affected the fit off the nose. Ian
7. Hi Folks Another straight off the production line,Tamiya's 1/48 Mosquito FBVI converted into T3 from 204 AFS at Driffield circa 1950 Minimum mods required to do this although I would say the kit fought me all the way. A little bit of personal history in this one my father flew this aircraft twice whilst on detachment from his base at Celle. Why he was detached for three weeks is a mystery. The only thing that provides a possible explanation is his return from Rhodesia after instructing on Harvards but that was three months before the detachment. Anyway here it is ,the photos I worked from show it to be a very tired airframe. Ian
8. Hi Folks It's been a busy few days at the workbench. This is the Monogram version of the F86D finished as the Squadron commanders aircraft from the 37th FIS based at Ethan Allen air force base in Vermont circa 1953. As usual this kit is a delight to build, decals from SuperScale Ian [ URL=http://s1158.photobucket.com/user/camper1231/media/IMG_9901_zpsssdwxxbr.jpg.html]
9. Hi Folks This is Trumpeters 1/48 scale F100F finished in the markings of Col F Gabreskia a well known WW11 ace. The markings from SuperScale depicting the time he was Squadron commander of the 354th TFW at Myrtle Beach South Carolina in 1959. No problems with building the kit which is straight from the box,the intake is a bit of an odd shape but the rest of the kit doesn't look too bad[to me anyway] Ian [ URL=http://s1158.photobucket.com/user/camper1231/media/IMG_9895_zpsuzn0djwu.jpg.html]
10. Hi Folks Title says it all,I think this kit is a bit rare now although I have seen very few actually built. Not the easiest of kits but a bit of care and lots of test fitting gets you to a point where you can be reasonably happy with it. This particular airframe had a very matt finish, mine still looks a bit shiny, not much I can do about that now. Finished with Revell No90 paint and the Dayglo Xtradecal sheet. Ian
11. Another couple of nice builds there Tony, glad I'm not the only one that makes the odd foul up with decals. Ian
12. Hi Folks Title says it all,not the easiest of builds but I got there in the end. Finished with Xtracolor and Tamiya paints, decals straight from the box. Cheers ian
13. Hi Folks These are the latest from the production line. Two Airfix F8s and a CA T7 which has the Airfix small bore intakes fitted ti it. All painted with my last good tin of Xtracolor HSS the Airfix ones are finished with Xtradecals which for the first time gave me quite a lot of grief especially the checker tail one. They have gone really thin with the printing process and stick wherever they touch despite lots of Micro Set The T7 is finished with spare Airfix decals and depicts the Squadron hack when they flew Hunters. ian[ URL=http://s1158.photobucket.com/user/camper1231/media/IMG_9853_zpsimum68uo.jpg.html]
14. Very nice build,I have a few of these to build. These squadron markings were applied to 74s aircraft both silver and camouflaged as seen in Cold War shield Vol 1 Ian
15. Good job I sent the elves back or you would never have finished it. Looks very nice Ian
16. While building the CA Meteor T7 I thought I would see if the Airfix intakes would fit As you can see the fit is not too bad,the intake will have to be glued on in stages and allowed to set and then 'squeeze 'it to follow the existing contours of the CA parts. I know its a deep breather intake but was curious to see what it would look like, has to be better than the CA one even with a bit of filler. Cheers Ian
17. Hi Tony and John As far as I can make out the FB1s were silver on the undersides and quite a lot of the FB4s were PRU blue. These could have been replacement aircraft from the UK ....the photo I worked from certainly looks PRU blue Ian
18. Hi Folks I expect the forum will be inundated with this model over the next few months . Here is the second one I have built to represent the the' Bosses"aircraft of 19,72 and85 Squadrons based at Aldergrove in 1957 Decals are from one of Xtradecals new sheets and painted with Xtracolor HSS. I had no end of problems with the HSS the paint was like sludge and left a shot blasted effect on the model,I rubbed it down with very fine way and dry and sprayed two coats of a mix of Rowneys gloss and matt acrylic varnish to tidy it up. I'm still not too happy with it as i feel the poor quality paint spoilt it for me. I've used this paint for years and wonder, has anyone else had this problem?
19. Nice job on my all time favourite aircraft. Ian
20. Hi Folks Another Seahawk for you, this time from 898 Naval Air Squadron based at Brawdy. Painted with Xtracolor and finished in the Model Alliance aerobatic teams decals. Ian
