I masked the the side window and painted the yellow parts, when it was dry I masked over the yellow and sprayed the complete model. I find the Century series easy to build, could be you just badly moulded kit. Hope this helps Cheers Ian

Hi Folks Another of Monograms Century series in what I think is one of the nicest colour schemes applied to this type of aircraft. The aircraft depicted was used by the 48th FIS based at Langley during the late fifties. Painted with Xtracolor and decals from Fox 2. ian

Just had a look at the my log books to see the numbers of aircraft involved in the Berlin wall crisis which transited Prestwick either on delivery or return. The following numbers were noted....... .76 F86Hs Somebody please do a kit of this. 104 F84F/RF84F 16 T33s Hope this is of interest. Cheers Ian

Looks good Andy,I thought with it being a present from your wife the whip would have been cracked to get it finished PDQ Cheers Ian

Hi Giorgio I should have stated that the Squadrons were manned by regulars after the renumbering of the unit. This aircraft arrived in France through the Azores I believe and the F86Hs routed through Prestwick to France as it was felt the number of aircraft would have overwhelmed the small US base there. It was a very interesting time for aircraft spotters the US base was literally covered with aircraft transiting to France and Germany with supplies.I logged 17 C124s and 8 C133s in one day plus the usual personnel transports C54s, C118s.and C130s. When the crisis had calmed down a couple of years later the F86 and F84s all returned through Prestwick, not long after that the F102s started to go through. Interesting times Ian

Have a look at Thunderstreaks.com and click on USAF ones, this will bring up photos of the ones mentioned transiting Prestwick on their return to the US Photo'1,3 through to 8 and 12 are from the units mentioned. Unfortunately none of the RF84F's which visited are included in the collection. Cheers Ian

These aircraft transited Prestwick Airport on the return to the US,none of them logged had camouflage. What a day that was,I still remember the weird noise the exhaust made and the length of the take off run from what is a pretty long runway, it was an underwear changer watching some of them. Ian

Hanger 3 is closed at present for remodelling [no pun intended] all the older exhibits were relocated to the restoration/storage hangers. I was told by the people on the gate that hanger 3 was closed until May next year, eventually all the hangers will be used and all exhibits are to be brought inside. The Sabre BB+150 is an old acquaintance I first saw this aircraft as a 10 year old aircraft spotter at Prestwick in 1956 one of over 500 Canadair Sabres that were seen, previously it was 23102 with the RCAF

There is a photo of the last RAF Hercules movement from Gatow in the control tower, from memory it was the last large aircraft movement to leave the airfield. Ian

As the title says a few more from the Luftwaffe Museum, not technically the correct name but easier to spell Ian

Here is the real thing at Udvar Hazy a few years ago Ian

The Dakota is still there,no Hastings or Chipmunk seen. Some of the hangers are used for storage of airframes but are not open for viewing which is a shame. Just for you Tony I will post some more when I get time. Ian

I don't think they would have made these. You can have a Berlin 'Safari' in these little things, they disappear up the road emitting large clouds of smoke so those following can't see a thing. Interesting museum there are dozens of them in it all painted in colours from the Dulux catalogue Ian[ URL=http://s1158.photobucket.com/user/camper1231/media/IMG_9309_zps5nxjukkn.jpg.html]

Hi Folks A few from the above museum,a bit cramped but some very nice stuff to see. If you like ships or trains this place should be on your bucket list, the ship models are incredible and the trains kept in the engine sheds are worth seeing Ian s1158.photobucket.com/user/camper1231/media/IMG_9061_zpsw4ukk3fw.jpg.html]

Hi Folks The old Airfix kit which was retooled to have the parts for a Mosquito BXVI. The model depicts a B35 version of the Mosquito flown by 14 Squadron at Celle, the few mods needed were acquired from the Mosquito Museum website. On a personal note this aircraft was flown by once by my father during his RAF career . Decals came from Aeromaster but the the code letters are too big, surely with the number of photo's of 14 Squadron aircraft available they should have got it correct.Had to use them as I could not source yellow letters with black trim the correct size Ian
