  1. I've asked around about this before for myself, and what most people advised was for you to get a sealed bucket with a lid, cut a hole in it for the exhaust hose and fill the bucket with either sand or water. That should take care of any particles that would be sucked up from the Spray Booth's extractors and blown through the exhaust hose. I think so long as you've got a Spray Booth with a decent filtration system you should be fine even if you don't have a window to blow the exhaust fumes out
  2. I've been wondering about something along these lines myself. I've been considering buying an Iwata because I've heard that they're the top of the line and cannot be beaten in quality. Specifically I've been thinking about buying an Iwata HP-TH. However, Iwata are massively expensive, the HP-TH costs about £250, and I noticed that Mr Hobby's PS290 is basically the exact same brush except that it doesn't have a MAC valve and it costs like £100 less. So I was wondering if there really is any functional difference between the Iwata and Mr Hobby lines? They both seem made from the same materials to similar standard. I was wondering if anyone who has both could tell what, if anything, justifies Iwata's higher price point?
  3. Thank you gentlemen for your kind responses Yeah, I also use it for the regular finishes. I find you get a more metallic sheen when you paint regular Alclad over a black base coat Well, I'm looking to improve the finish as well get rid of any tiny imperfections in the surface I don't prime it. Reason being that Alclad describe the new formula Gloss Black Base as a primer. I know the old formula was emphatically described as not being a primer but I don't think that's the case any more It's hard to describe from memory but I don't think it flakes off. Polishing with the coarser grits will just scratch it clean off and polishing with the finer grits will just smooth it down and remove the gloss pigment, rather than making it shinier The key thing that I was wondering is if there was any need to put sealant (ex: Aqua Gloss, Klear Kote) over the base? The Alclad instructions don't mention this but it would make sense given the Gloss Black Base's durability problems
  4. I was wondering if anybody here has ever used micromesh to polish Alclad Gloss Black Base and could give any advice on how to do it properly? There really aren't many/any tutorials out there on how to do it. My chief problem is that whenever I go over a piece of plastic with Gloss Black Base and use micromesh to polish it, the coarser grits (in this case 3600 and 4000 grit) inevitably end up scratching the base coat off, even after curing for 24-48 hours. If I simply use the finer grits (6000, 8000, sometimes just 120000) I find that the micromesh still takes off some of the base and ends up dulling the finish. I soak the micromesh in water. I soak the plastic parts in water. I always end up with the same (poor) results. Any advice would be most welcome
  5. Does anyone know what has happened to their site? I go on https://www.hrhobbies.co.uk/shop/ and it says 'This site is currently under construction'. It's said that for a while now
