  8. All very nice. Well done. Ross
  9. Good output. The Hunter and Wyvern are my favourites. Ross
  10. Even so I would say the price difference makes it worthwhile. Buy it and then pick up a few detail sets for it. Compared to doing similar to the Trumpeter kit you are still going to save money. Ross
  11. Thanks all. Updated with descriptions. The Lawrence figure is actually 28mm. Ross
  12. Well here is what I have achieved this year. Quite good really I managed 9 builds this year. Productive for me. I also achieved my New Years resolution of last year to finish an aircraft, well as you can see I managed 3. I don't think I will finish anything else before years end. Grenadier of thre French Imperial Guard c. 1860 1/48 KV-1 Spahi, Vichy French Forces, Syria, 1941 1/72 Hawker Hurricane MkIIc 1/72 Sherman MkVc 'Firefly' Lawrence of Arabia RFC Pilot, c. 1917 1/72 Hawker Sea Fury FB.II 1/72 Supermarine Spitfire MkI Ross
  13. Cheers Mike. You will enjoy it. Ross
  14. Here are some more pics of it. Here are some shots of the front plate attached to the lower hull. Some shots of the general look of it. The upper hull is not atteached here just dry fitted. An overhead shot and the rear deck area. The rear transmission cover. Some more detail shots of the turret. Look at those smoke dischargers. Ross
  15. Nice to see another Sea Fury :goodjob: Ross
  16. Some more work on this... Started on the lower hul, whcih goes together very well. You can see the front hul plate here and the bottom of the hull. The kit is very well thought out. Once the front plate is attached to the lower hull the upper hull just slots in. Ross
  17. I agree the casting texture is just right. Ross
  18. Needing something to build quickly to get the modelling juices flowing again I decided to take the new Tamiya kit out of the stash. I am hoping to get this finished quickly and it will be finished as a home based vehicle c. 1942, though it should be noted that the camo presented in the instructions is wrong for the vehicle represented. I will be placing it in a dio when finished based on a wartime photo I have got somewhere. First some pics of the turret. I finished this in the space of a few hours yesterday afternoon. With the exception of some wiring, a lense for the light and some tidying up with Mr Surfacer it is done. It shows why IMHO Tamiya kits are stil the best on the market. So easy to put together and well detailed. Ross
  19. Earlier in the year I started painting El Greco’s Boer Commando as sculpted by Carl Reid. However, I was not happy with the attempt so I decided to strip it and restart it. This time I have got a much more rugged look to the face. Here are some pics of the initial work. I have been working on the face trying to define some of the features. Adding some deep shadows with Mars Brown. Some colour to his cheeks with Venetian Red. I have also tried to give a tired look around the eyes with a mix of Paynes Grey and Mars Brown. Not sure how is has come out. Thoughts? I have also started laying in details such as the eyes. More soon. Comments welcomed. Ross
  20. Here is a pic of the one at the Plymouth Navy Day. Ross
  21. Excellent finishing. You seem to have thrown the everything but the kitchen sink at the kit. How did the various parts fit? Ross
  22. Thanks Edgar. Its bits like that that make this site so great. Ross
  23. The latest to hit my bench is the Revell version of this classic fighter. I am planning to do it as one of the aircraft from the the Black Arrown display team. For this I am using Xtradecal sheet X72046, which gives the markings for Lathams aircraft. The only addition I am making tot he kit are a Pavla bang seat and the the airbrake from Quickboost. I have started work onthe cockpit and fitted the Pavla seat which reqiured some adjustment of the stick as the new seat is slightly bigger than the kit version so make sure you test fitted. There are some pin marks that needed filling on the side wall behind the seat so out came the Mr Dissolved Putty to deal with this. Next up painting the cockpit... Ross
  24. Nice job Pete. Must get hold of one. Ross
