  1. Haha, got it šŸ˜‚. The exhaust looks just great. What did you make it out of?? Great reference for when I build mine Chris
  2. Gosh, thatā€™s all coming together nicely. Iā€™m impressed with your driver painting, so realistic posed in the car Looking forward to further progress Chris
  3. Awesome - canā€™t choose between the two, both extremely impressive Chris
  4. Wow, amazing job. Thoroughly enjoyed the journey with your commitment and enhancements on both models What an amazing outcome Chris
  5. Noel apologies for late reply. No, I havenā€™t attended a model show since we finished with MRM. Closest to me now is Huddersfield but always seem to have something happening which clashes. Generally I am quite happy building models for myself these days. I would be happy to covert the newsletters and send off at some point if you let me know the details. If you and Keith pm me I will find some photos of us at Telford etc and can email them to you, although it might take me a while to dig them out. Hopefully you will recognise me as I am still as grey as I was then šŸ¤£šŸ˜‚. Chris
  6. Haha, but once that tape comes offā€¦ā€¦ā€¦
  7. Ocatlub, of course, I had completely forgotten about the Honda and Volvo decals. I remember building the Volvo with the decals (back when the Volvo was readily available!!) Good memories, thank you Chris
  8. Good progress Gary. Starting to come together nicely Chris
  9. Thoroughly enjoyed following the dismantling and watching you turn it into an amazing finished model. It was great to see the hurdles you came up against and some very interesting solutions Well done on a great finished model Chris
  10. Just come across this WIP post and finding it extremely interesting. I have the transkit and decals so will be following from now on and noting all the difficulties you face and the tips you give. Progress so far is looking great. I too have built the Sierra previously and don't remember the diff/prop problem but will be aware when I build this version. Looking forward to following and further progress Chris
  11. Noel Firstly, I am pleased you are happy with the information I supplied. (Didnā€™t know if it was too much info!!) If you visited the MRM stand you will certainly have met me as I attended every show we did. I donā€™t know what happened to the Vanwall moulds but I see someone currently selling Decals on EBay that are still branded MRM. I know Mikes wife gave all stock to someone after he passed. I also have all the old newsletters we produced. Still interesting to go through not only for the reviews etc but also to remember all the people that contributed. Keith Similarly we will have met at shows at some point. We were all enthusiasts on the stand willing to chat about any car modellling although certain members had certain knowledge in each form of motorsport. We were a bit different at shows as we had a mix of accessories for sale and also built models. We tried to tailor the built models to show off the accessories so people seeing the models could buy the parts to replicate what they saw on the stand. Really nice to hear you looked forward to receiving the Newsletter. We all contributed and I remember running 80 odd newsletters through the company photocopier very early on a morning!!! I remember us getting the Cossack decals printed, they were really popular and I think I still have a couple of sets. I still have quite a few decals and accessories from that time and have been able to help a few people on Britmodeller with bits and pieces which I am happy to do. Itā€™s good to know MRM is still remembered. Chris
  12. Wow, that is looking really nice. Love the colouring inside and out. Agree on the front and rear looks Really looking forward to seeing the finished model and the lighting Chris
  13. That certainly is looking good and ALL the chrome looks the part, regardless of the mix and match. All looks the same to me on your photos. Clever ā€œtrickā€ grinding out the front a bit to make it easier mating chassis and body - one more really good tip for me to try and remember. Chris
  14. Hi Noel. I can answer your questions about MRM as I was a part of it throughout its existence. MRM was started by Mike Rosser (MikeRosserModels) just selling his old unwanted kits. I met him at a show and hit it off as we were both avid Rally fans. We both wanted more variants from the few rally models around at the time. He was able to find various decals and very soon got into contacting manufacturers direct and being able to order from Renaissance, Studio 27 etc, etc We also found an individual near me that was able to produce resin and white metal items so took to making various bits and pieces for us as we were just getting into having a stand at various model shows. 3 or 4 other guys joined in supporting MRM and we all built models and exhibited on the stands whilst expanding into F1, motorbikes, WEC, Touring cars etc. We attended model shows for quite a number of years and built up quite a following. We developed a monthly newsletter for all members with model builds and news from the modelling world in all forms. All of this was done on a part time basis as we all worked and was never done as a money making business as any profit was put into buying more models, decals, accessories etc. (in fact we funded much of it ourselves!!) The Metro which you refer to ( as have many others) was a first attempt to make a Rally car no manufacturer was anywhere near producing. In essence it was oversized for 1/24th and was ā€œheavyā€ in the body but was popular and actually built into a nice model albeit after a lot of work and effort. A 1/20th Vanwall was also produced but that was near the end of the business and again built into a nice model but wasnā€™t around for very long as MRM was coming to a close. ill health and people going separate ways after quite a number of years saw MRM peter out ultimately but had added to the car modellers experience. We lost contact with Mike but my wife and Mikes wife kept in touch periodically and we received a letter in 2020 to say Mike had eventually succumbed to a heart attack after many years of heart problems. During the MRM era we made hundreds of friends and still have contact with many who still enjoy car modelling and have fond memories of the times MRM was operating Hope you donā€™t mind the long long resume in answering your question. You obviously remember us which is nice Chris
  15. Admire your persistence and the end result certainly made it all worthwhile. Thoroughly enjoyed following this adventure. Well done on superb transformation Chris
