  1. That's another very nice build Andy, great stuff! I'd never realised before how different the wing planforms were between prototype & production - that's a significant change! And I love your grainy outside shots - they look spot on for a period shot on 400ASA film....!!! K
  2. Those 'pits look rather neat Melchie, & I like the finish you've got on those nozzles! But I do have to wonder what sort of reference sites you frequent to find pics like this???!!! K
  3. Lovely job, especially in the one true scale!! Great build! Keef
  4. Ahhh, sorry I didn't notice your location before - the postage rates are what you get for enjoying that lovely climate!! Keef
  5. Modelzone still have the Revell boxing of the Hasegawa GR7 listed for £9.99; http://www.modelzone.co.uk/multi_role_bae_...mk7-details.htm And I agree with those trannies, they look beautiful but they are about 4 times what I originally paid for the kit!! Keef
  6. That's a nice jig! I love simple, elegant engineering solutions like that! Build is coming along nicely! Keef
  7. Nice work there Mike, always liked this crazy little machine! The 'pit is looking great! If you still want to do the red one but are put off with the thought of airbrushing it, I'd recommend you try one of the Zero paints reds - they really are the easiest paints I've ever sprayed & their covering power is fantatstic - especially for the hated yellows & reds! They look expensive, but as they cover so well they last for ages! He can mix a whole range of RAL paints; http://www.hiroboy.com/catalog/product_inf...roducts_id=1250 http://www.hiroboy.com/pdf/Zero-RAL-Colour-Chart.pdf If there's nothing suitable there, I like Porsche Guards Red as a generic nice, bright red - & it's German too!! Keef PS - no connection with Hiroboy other than loving his paint (& wishing he could do FS matches as well!)
  8. Cor, they're well cool General, really like those! Now then, come on, play fair - never mind the CGI rubbish, post the pics of the real things that we know you've got.....!! Hope to see these two at Telford Andy, so get on with it...!! Keef
  9. Are you a member of the Yahoo Airliner modelling group? Cos this question has just been asked on there last week as well! A reply stated there are pics on A.net showing the undersides of the wings are all red apart from the leading edge. The full reply is below, I hope the original poster doesn't mind it being reposted here! "G-ARWD was a 707-465 and there are at least 2 shots of it which show the undersides of the wings quite well. From these I'd say that, on this aircraft at least, the whole of the undersides of the wings were red apart from the leading edge. Pictures of this and other aircraft would suggest that the red area on the upper surface covered only the wing box area and certainly not the top of the flaps. If you look at pictures of the upper wings of BEA Tridents, only the wing box area was red, although unlike the 707s the same applied to the under surface! " Keef
  10. May be interested, depends on what else is going on at the start of next year! Would go with either a 1/72 Skyraider, B-57G or a Marines Toom! Let ya know definitely in 8 months......!! Keef
  11. There was a post on the Airliner modelling group this week with someone complaining about the cost of Contrails shipping for a set of DC-4 Argonaut engines to Europe. Contrails owner replied saying the website wasn't calculating shipping correctly & to e-mail him as it would be less than stated on the website - so it may be worth contacting him & asking! Keef
  12. I fill a vacuum flask with boiling water before I start & keep topping the bowl up. Lasts long enough for a decalling session. Also have a big empty jar in the model room to pour the cold water into before the bowl overflows....!! Wonder if a baby bottle warmer might work? But the vacuum flask does me! Keef
  13. At least yours is all there - I have one of the 'short shots' as mentioned in that ARC thread, half of the top section is missing.... Was thinking of filling the canopy with milliput or similar & plunge forming an acetate replacement, but haven't got round to it. Have a 1/72 Dragon one to do instead....!! Nice work on the pit, looking forward to seeing this one progress! Keef
  14. Sold mine for £58 - but that was a few years back. Really regretted selling it for a long while, but if the Airfix kit is as good as the pre-production examples look, then I won't anymore....!! Keef
  15. I think that's what its designed for, so it should fit! The shape looks really nice in the pic on their website too! K
  16. But it could also mean that the Tally Ho ones are still available & they may be re-stocking them as they're still listed? May be worth dropping them an e-mail to check? K Just remembered - Aviaeology do a sheet of RCAF Spitfires which has two FRXIVe's on it. I don't know if that's the particular mark you want to do? I recently ordered a sheet of their Sharkmouth Typhoon decals in 1/48. The decals look really good, & I got them from Canada in about a week! http://www.aviaeology.com/Model%20Decals/A...9/aod72009.html
  17. I think I recall reading in the Hannants 'Hot News' e-mail that now when they sell out of something & they can't get any more they are removing the item completely from the website. So maybe that's what's happened with that sheet? Keef
  18. Two Mikes have just done one. Unfortunately for me personally it's of no use because its solid resin & I absolutely hate decal flight deck windows. I can cope with decal cabin windows, but not flight deck ones! Authentic Airliners also did a replacement Boing nose - I think he marketed it for the Minicraft 727, but it should work for the 70 as well? Unfortunately its also moulded in opaque resin..... I agree about the Minicraft 707 nose shape, it really is dire!! Keef
  19. Sorry Erwin, I don't want to appear argumentative, but why include the North Sea & Norwegian Sea campaigns? Surely there's enough subject matter within the Battle of Atlantic itself for the GB without diluting it into almost a Battle of the North Western hemisphere GB? I'm just confused as to why the field of interest needs to be widened so much? Keef
  20. Well, if the jet in the foreground is pitching up at 400 kts then the bomb would surely have some forward energy - like a LABS attack. Dunno if Buccs used LABS though.... Keef
  21. There's probably a deep psychological message to that. But not being a deep psychologist, I have no idea what.....!!! Keef
  22. Hmmm, don't know about that, the S2 kits have always had 2 piece canopies...... I think I may be forced to add yet another of these to the stash though for the new weapons sprue. And those SAAF decals look rather nice too.... Cheers for the review Mike Keef
  23. Go on then, I have a 2 sqn FGR2 on the build list for this year, so I'll delay it until next (as if that wouldn't have happened anyway!). 1/72 Fujim kit, Airdecal sheet, a couple of resin seats & maybe a little bit of scratchbuilding in the pit... Keef
  24. Well, seeing as most people seem to be going for Soviet aircraft in foreign service, & as I opened my big gob & said I would take part in a GB with such a theme, then I guess I'd better add my name to the list!! Not sure what I'll build yet, but as a little light relief after the A-model Yak, I think it may be something a bit easier - maybe the Fujimi 'Peeping Mig' boxing of it's Mig-21RF in one of the kits Egyptian AF schemes, or possibly more likely the Italeri IL-28 in the kits East German AF scheme.....plenty of time to decide though, eh??!! Keef
