  1. Hmmm, such as the editor of a certain aviation modelling magazine who in the latest (I believe) issue has published an article written by himself , in which his name is spelt incorrectly. Fine bit of editing that..... And rather than the quality of reviews, it's the lack of editing (or proof reading) in magazines today leading to what little text there is in them becoming on times almost unreadable, that led to me taking the oft proffered advice of 'voting with my wallet'. Which is fine, as not buying the 3-4 magazines a month that I used to has significantly increased my budget for buying plastic instead. Then I can find out on t'internet if what I've bought actually resembles the real thing....!! Keef
  2. Hannants have just had them in stock too. http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/NM72005 http://www.hannants.co.uk/product/NM48005 Post free from them too!
  3. Thanks Dave, Boltgun is the one, I could remember Mithral & Chainmail but not that one - & was too lazy to go upstairs to look! K
  4. That's my preferred stuff too (currently in the guise of Aeroclub's 'knitting in elastic', & some finer 'bait elastic' I found in the fishing section in the Range). I tend to colour it with thinned Games Workshop silver acrylic (the darkest one, the name of which escapes me at the moment) Keef
  5. Excellent snozz Nobby, really good! I've often thought of using that technique to scratchbuilt something, but that's always as far as it got - thinking about it! Keef
  6. Those were this years resolutions - not much of it left now....!! K
  7. Seconded, Dave. Great build of the mighty Wokka as a tribute too. I'm immensely proud of the work my son-in-law & his friends & colleaques do flying the things... Keef
  8. It's already packed Dave! Actually, now you mention it, I think I may have one with my Tamiya Stringbag.... K
  9. I HATE Airfix!!! Hmm, this vinegar tastes a bit funny..... Just picked up the Stringbag, & it looks a little gem. Only thing I would have liked - but didn't expect to get - would have been a rigging diagram. I have the Warpaint plans & plenty of piccies, but am finding it difficult to work out all the rigging - especially in the cabane strut area. Anyone know of any rigging diagrams on line perchance? I think I may just start this one next, it looks too good to leave in the box!! Keef
  10. I don't think its so much the old kit that's created the interest Nobby - more the pain that you're going to inflict upon it to turn it into a thing of beauty....!! Good start on the nose, that'll make an 'ell of a difference! K
  11. And where can I get a 72nd scale version of said rule - just to check the dimension of the u/c in the kit is correct, of course.....!!! K
  12. Youch - what did they do to that poor rudder....??!! Looking forward to the fun with this one Nobby!! Keef
  13. Cheap at half the price then....nothing like a free 'boner' !!!
  14. Great stuff, thanks for the 'how-to'.....!! Is this the window leading that use?; http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/9mm-Window-lead-...=item415f7992b8 Thanks Keef
  15. Well Steve, that is simply stunning!! Beautiful finish, stunning weathering - & all in the one true scale!! What more could one ask for....??!! Gorgeous model!! Keef
  16. Phantoms eating trout? They must have been low....!! Nice Toom Rob, the old Matchbox thing has come up really well - but I think a lot of that is down to your excellent brush painting!! Good stuff!! Keef
  17. Hi Dave, Tamiya acrylics aren't the best for brush painting - they tend to dry too quickly. Try Valejo, lifecolor or - my favourite for brush painting - Games Workshop Citadel colours. This Stratos dash was done mainly with Games Workshop Mithral silver for the bezels & relays, with the fuses & warning lights also getting a coat of it. When dry the fuses were given a very thin wash of various GW colours, with the warning lights getting dabs of Tamiya clear colours - that didn't need brushing out! I just use a very fine brush to apply the paint, with a wet sharpened cocktail stick to sharpen up the edges where my hand wobbles when using the brush!! But, as Chris says, your interior is looking very nice anyway!! Keef
  18. I've got a permanent search set up for F8's/FR.9's on e-bay, & have seen a number finish in the £90-100 range!! (which CA Gannets also now frequently go for....!!) K
  19. Don't know anything about the accuracy of the colours, I do know it's a stunning little model!! Great work!! Keef
  20. Ah, thanks. Bit of careful hand painting needed then....
  21. Could you expand on that please Dave? Do you mean the codes in the Sword kit are wrong in some way? If so how? (as you can probably tell I have the kit but absolutely zero in the way of refs.!!) Cheers Keef
  22. That's brilliant!! Keef
  23. That's stunning Nobby - I think I've said that before, but it still holds good!! And a marvellous build thread too, with lots of useful tips - I've bookmarked that one! Crack on with the Defiant soon mate, can't wait to see what you can do to that sow's ear....!!! Absolutely marvellous Tiffie!! Keef
