Whatever the trials and tribulations of the build Steve that is another absolutely stunning result - beautiful paintjob in a just perfect colour! I like the black
bonnet, err hood, too - really sets the paint off nicely! And another cracking engine/bay - top work all round!21 hours ago, triumphfan said:I polished this body with T Cut (household type)
What be that? I only know of the car paint cutting back type - is it less abasive or something?
Lovely model again!

and there is still some orange peel visible,
Did you flat it back with micromesh or similar before polishing? I find this removes most orange peel - but then I'm weird as wet sanding and polishing the paint is one of my favourite parts of building car models!
Whatever, that is still a really fine finish that you've got and it looks really good with the foiling!

All really good Nils, but I particularly like the first one!

Brilliant scratchbuilding again, and no sign of this new fangled 3D stuff, just excellently applied old school methods!
And it all looks entirely convincing - the 'Just stop oil' lot would simply love it....!! 🤣
Great work Nick!

Sunshine brought a few more out today - lovely top down harvest gold MGB roadster, looked mint. Black R32 Skyline GTR - which fittingly enough for a Japanese classic was covered in cherry blossom petals! And on the way home from the school run a very nice BRG Aston DB7.
And while waiting for grand-daughter to come out of school, what I think was a McLaren 720 in their purplish-blue colour. But not really that interested in things like that so it could have been a purplish-blue anything....!!

Lovely dark metallic red 'mild custom' classic Beetle this morning, looked lovely in a rare bit of sunshine. Young lady driving it wasn't bad either....!!

yes the move to a 2 bed bungalow would help both financially and health wise.
That's exactly why we hope to soon do the same - but just the stress of thinking about it is bad enough.....
Hopefully you'll manage the move soon Pat.

Probably the Playcraft rebox of the AMT kit. They supposedly issued a range of the AMT '59 annual kits, though I've only seen the Lincoln and the Buick.
Thanks - hopefully when I get it finished I'll do an RFI and maybe you'll be able to confirm that - one way or another
I've always been puzzled as to where he would have got such a kit when we lived in a small Welsh town (Neath) in the early 1960's....!!

The problem cars like the Stinger face is they are caught between two worlds. They are off the radar of the company's core market, and nobody contemplating a Quattroporte or Giulia is going to look past the brand.
It also doesn't help when they're pricing themselves in BMW/Audi territory - so most private 'buyers' for that class of car are unlikely to consider one either - even if they know it exists!
I've always thought it's a really good looking car though.

Yet more amazing scratchbuilding Nick, you don't hang around with these projects, do you?! Fantastic looking bit of kit - looking forward to seeing it loaded on the truck!
Shouldn't have long to wait....!!

Indeed they do have some rather nice cars and those are some rather nice pics of them, thanks for sharing Matt.
Love the Lincoln (I'm in the middle of restoring a model of a Mk IV from an unknown (to me) kit that my dad built for me around 1960...!!), but I'll have the black 911 please!

I owned a black 924 once - second worst car I've had (first was a 1300 cc Viva HC!) - absolutely horrible thing! Was building it to do hillclimbs in and ended up selling it for less than I paid for the roll cage....!! 🤣

Shame about the house move Pat - really stressful time without it all falling apart.
Looking forward to your build of this one as I have the Castrol version to get to - one day!
Nice start so far!

What a fantastic beast, really brilliant model again Nick, loved watching it come together in the build thread and now love looking at the finished result - top work once again!

Indeed, coming along really nicely again Spiny, lets hope for some better weather soon for all you that rely on it. I consider myself really lucky in having a dedicated indoor modelling room where I can spray all year round - I hope if (when!) the missus gets her way and we 'downsize' I'm still as fortunate!
Decalling is looking really good!

Nice Dolomite Sprint
Yep, I'll have that one please Chris!!
For some reason I've never owned one despite really liking them since they were new and I always passed on getting one even when people were almost giving them away (might be something to do with head gaskets....!! 🤣)
Nice pics again, despite the weather!

Cracking job Steve, that's a beautiful paintjob with an inspired colour choice - the engine bay is a bit of a work of art too!
Lovely Mk2...!!

We're finding exactly the same Pat, even some 2 beds are going for the same price as our 4 bed detached is worth....!!
