We still have one of them (or he still has two of us to feed him on demand! 🤣)

I knew someone would say that :) Even as I was watching the car, I was thinking "people [for some unknown reason] love these".

My era of car - always wanted one back in the day but they were always much more expensive than the Mexico's or RS2000's I did have. These days it's the other way around but I can't afford 'toys' anymore! :)

  3. Gorgeous pics, really like them all, thanks for sharing Matt!

I'll send a link to the thread to my horse mad daughter and two grand-daughters, they'll love them! (although I don't see why I should - it's because of my horse mad daughter and the money I spent on her riding lessons, holidays, shows etc when she was growing up that I never got my Porsche 911..... 🤣 )

I am thinking of putting the Seafire on hold as I am having issues getting a wash to stay in the panel lines

Do you think it actually needs a panel line wash Chris? It looks really good to me as it is and a good matt coat may just finish it off nicely, especially with some minor pastel weathering?

I'm not far off finishing the 72nd Seafire 1b that Mark @2996 Victor kindly sent me (& apologies Mark for the time it's taking, been spending too much time playing with my car models :) ) & I recently gave that a panel line wash. I know it's a smaller scale but tbh afterwards I think I may have overdone it & it would have been better without....

    Just a thought.

I do know where they all went to and the majority were either crashed or Max Powered to death.

Or left to rot in a front garden like the one around the corner from my son's house that had been there a good 5 years before being removed leaving a goodly pile of iron oxide where it had once stood....!! 🤣

I already received some of the new bottles. But I have to admit that I absolutely don't like them at all as it's just impossible to get the paint out with a pipette. And without it will only result in a big mess...

That looks really weird! I have to admit I've not bought any Zero paints for quite a long time now. Don't know if I will in future now either! :)

It's from Green Stuff World, their Metal Color range,

I just used their 'airbrush only' chrome on the Lincoln Continental I'm (very) slowly restoring - as a chrome it was rubbish, but it made a nice dark dull aluminium! However the GSW chrome intended for brush painting sprayed beautifully and gave an excellent chrome finish! Have to say I didn't get tip dry with either type....

Thanks for the info on the Violet.

  9. That looks really good, and I love the lateral thinking of the sponge masking! Wonder if the missus will miss hers....?!

What paint is the purple Neddy, looks very nice.

I had to do some really small touchups on the Escort Cossie I'm building yesterday, so thought I'd use the H&S evolution I have - damn thing wouldn't spray even after half an hours deep clean, so I went back to my trusty original Ultra and it did the job perfectly. I hadn't heard of the 2024 version so will have a look at your post in the other forum!

    Nice work on the paint!

some people also have to hate it.

I have to say I'm in that camp when it comes to LW cars, but I do like watching good modelling so shall be interested to see what you do with this. Good luck with the de-cambering... :)

  11. That's great - really like that colour, suits it perfectly!

The chromework does look good. I'm currently slowly (very!) restoring an old Lincoln Continental convertible my late dad built for me around 1960! I finally got around to doing the chrome recently and I used the Greenstuff world acrylics - they do two types, one for brush and the other airbrush. The airbrush one didn't come out at all like chrome but the paintbrush specific one sprayed beautifully and came out really shiny! Like you, I wonder about the durability of it too.

Anyway, I really do like your Caddy, lovely job!

Wonder why the rear sections are painted black

Me too, does seem a bit strange doesn't it! I did wonder if it was the original colour the cage was supplied in, but that's unlikely as it was probably a bespoke cage welded up in bare metal before finishing. Very odd...!!

    Great work though Michael!

  13. That all looks brilliant Andy - and a fun place to be!!

And as the thing is hardly standard, the door 'string' could be any colour under the sun....!! :)

The rings are stuck to the backing sheet with limpet like strength and are very delicate so just getting off the sheet is a trial in its self.

I've never tried it so don't know how effective it is, but I read somewhere that if you apply some IPA (no, not the beer you were going to have!) to the parts to be removed it melts the adhesive around them to make them easier to get off the sheet.
