  1. Just finished the Scammell Recovery Tractor from Thunder Models which is the first 1/35 kit I’ve done since reentering the hobby and it was great. Fantastic detailing, no aftermarket’s necessary either. A few dodgy instructions but nothing that a bit of critical thinking can’t overcome. I’ll have to upload some pictures if I can figure out how to from my mobile.
  2. Very nice builds! The shape of the kfz 232 is so distinguishable with the long bonnet and antenna. Looks way ahead of its time.
  3. They all look great and you’ve done a real job on weathering them. Particularly like the look of that Caterpillar and the Magach. I myself have started my first ever ‘armour’ kit which is a Thunder Models Pioneer. Fantastic detail throughout and some really finicky pieces. The only addition I’ve used is some resin wheels. Maybe I’ll post some pictures once I’m done.
  4. Really smart move by Airfix. They've been putting out some great kits of late and whilst this isnt a Fortress, it'll still sell well with the release of Masters of the Air.
  5. This should be interesting. Zvezda has been producing decent kits lately and I’m hoping their output will be the same for this.
  6. Really looking forwards to this. I’ll have to pay a visit to the Ulster Aviation Museum to check out the real thing in advance!
  7. Can’t go wrong with a bit of MiniArt
  8. That’s great Jonny! You’ll have yourself a collection of Nags before long Feel you on the build time and backlog issue. I figure there are about 2 weekends a month where I can sit down at the bench and focus for a couple of hours at a time. I rarely ever find the time midweek but often don’t feel like modelling midweek either. This issue has made me quite determined to finish every build I’ve ever started - which Ive somehow managed to date. My latest build was the Minibase SU-33 and that actually took me six months…. So I figure with my current stash I’ll be sorted with builds for the next ten years. That’s not going to stop me buying more kits though is it 😂
  9. Yes the 6 tonne sorry. Thank you for the tip, I’ve ordered a model base from eBay - found a seller that makes custom sizes for a reasonable price. Going to pop into a local trophy shop to get a plaque made for my Draken J-35 build
  10. Nice finish on that first 38t build! Where are you picking up the wooden bases and plaques from?
  11. Hi BM, Does anyone have any recommendations on where to buy aircraft display bases - simple plain solid wood or plastic bases that are rectangular or circular in shape? Even better if anyone has an idea of how to achieve the looks in the below pictures where the aircraft is mounted on a rod ‘in flight’. I’ve had a look through previous threads on this but many of the websites mentioned are now closed down and out of action. I’d appreciate a point in the right direction. what I’m looking for:
  12. Thanks Johnny, I think the Nachmachon is one of those vehicles that is visually appealing despite being incredibly ugly. Perhaps the utility of the vehicle makes it look so good, providing lots of great weathering options. It strikes me as the sort of model that could be displayed by itself on a base. have you got a build thread for it?
  13. Have you got any pictures of it? Love the idea of doing a little tractor kit and there is one on Panzer Models that looks brilliant!
  14. Saw a build of the Thunder Models Bofors on Instagram and it looked like a fine little kit.
  15. Ive never built a Jug before so will definitely be picking one of these up. It'll be interesting to know how those rendered rivets translate to those out of the box.
  16. Loving that engine detail and the finish on the propellers. How was the decal quality in the kit?
  17. Great paintjob and any detail lacking in the box has more than been made up for by your finish! I've been tempted to pick up a Zoukie Mura kit though find their current offering somewhat uninspiring (barring the Ho 229) - perhaps i'll wait for the FW190 to hit the market.
  18. I also think the camo looks great. Consistent patches across the model and use of good colours too.
