  1. It looks like it. The airfix kit has this part. Tim
  2. Thanks Chris, great photos. I like the Blenheim on this page - http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=ForumsPro&file=viewtopic&t=14429&start=240&finish=15&printertopic=1 Interesting it has a towel rail aerial under the fuselage, camouflage wraps round over leading edge (unless de-icing?), a lamp under the nose (above second gun trough from the left)? Tim
  3. Ok, so let’s add interior green to the list πŸ™‚ thanks for those Tim
  4. I have this one creaping towards the top of the to-do-next pile. Which paint did you use for the grey(s) if you don't mind me asking? Tim
  5. how time flys. A bit of an update. The clear glazing for this aircraft is quite substantial. Normally it would be out with the masking tape to mask off all that clear expanse. In this case I baught the Eduard masking set. As it turned out the one I ended up with had the the masks for the inside of the glazing as well. So I had to do it twice! What fun. The inside parts are now interior green. I need to purchase some non fogging superglue to help get these into place without them moving. PVA/Kristal clear will take to long to dry. The engines are about done now. One question, the two intakes in each engine seem to vary in shade in various photos (see above). Airfix would have you do them black. I'm leaning towards a dull natural metal. Anyone know for definate? Tim
  6. moving on a bit. I've darkened the cylinders up a bit in line with some of the photos. The question is do I go overboard and try and add the support struts that each of the three connections to the cowling had (you can see them in post 11 above). Now I know they are there I feel I ought to add them. But can I be bothered? The wings halves are together now. Needed a bit of clamping to hold it all together while the glue dried. The soft plastic meant that the wing tips (where I had a bulldog clip) ended up with a bit of damage where the glue softened the plastic too much. Hence the damage repair. Tim
  7. They will look darker once the cowlings are on, but "naked" engines look lighter (well those I've seen on google) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bristol_Mercury#/media/File:Bristol_Mercury_RAFM.JPG Agreed, some oil and dirt will be needed Tim
  8. So I've made a bit of progress on this I went aluminium in the end, not that much can be seen nce all closed up. Also started on the engines. Tim
  9. Thanks, I'll have a browse. I went aluminium in the end too Tim
  10. nice scheme. Makes we want to do another ......................... Tim
  11. While technically working from home, there appears to be a bit more time to work on various projects (no travel time etc πŸ˜‰ ) So I've started the Airfix 1/48 Blenheim. Loads of detail in the cockpit and fuselage (shame most of it is invisible when it’s all closed up). Next its time to move on to the undercarriage. Airfix would have you paint the wheel well and the upper part of the legs aluminium and the lower semi-gloss black. The black looks right from the photos I have. I'm wandering about the aluminium? The restoration at Duxford has theirs interior green (yes, I know resorations are not always correct). I've not managed to find any photos that would help decide either way. Anyone have a clue? Tim
  12. I'd love to take credit for the difference, but I fear it is but a trick of the light πŸ™‚ Tim
  13. The bombs I nicked from the Airfix Phantom FG1 kit (I'll use the rocket pods). A bit of plastic strip to fit the mounting points (nicked that one from The General) to make fitting easier and job done with a blob of superglue. No other additions. Tim
  14. The fuel tank cover took a bit of bending to get it to the right curvature to fit and the wing roots again took some fettling to fit. Took a small amount of filler to blend in. Sorry Adam, taken me longer to get the images up that expected. Try here - Tim
  15. So I built this one in tandem with the Mark XIV posted elsewhere on this site. As with that kit it all went together reasonably well. Pre-warned about the cover in front of the windscreen it took a bit of a bend and tweak to help it fit. Nothing to onerous. The 20mm barrels with some spare Edurard ones I had going unused. The bomb racks came from the same source. The wheels with some resin 3-spoke jobs as these had better detail and the block tread pattern that photos of this aircraft showed it used. Eduard seat belts Freightdog decals from the "Brits Abroad" sheet. Drilled out the openings for the two downward facing cameras that could be fitted. Exhausts drilled out Think that was everything? Tim
  16. For you delectation and entertainment (if you are old enough to remember the reference) here is one of two Airfix spitfire XIV that I have finished. With a bit of effort the kit comes up nice. With this kit I replaced the 20mm barrels with some spare Edurard ones I had going unused. The wheels with some resin 4-spoke jobs as these had better detail Eduard seat belts Freightdog decals from the "Brits Abroad" sheet. Drilled out the openings for the two downward facing cameras that could be fitted. Looking at the photos I see the long range tank is drooping a bit. It was only held on with blue-tak πŸ˜‰ Tim
  17. Lovely paints Colourcoats. Slowly growing my stock Quite agree. Do I have space for one (or two)? who cares. Tim
  18. By my standards a quick build of the "new" Airfix 1/72 Buccaneer. Didn't do much other than build it out the box (apart from stealing the bombs from the phantom kit waiting to be built to put in the bomb bay). Kit decals and Humbrol paint (123 as far as I remember). The kit went together with no real problems. A bit of care needed where the two rear sections of the fuselage go together, or it could have been me not paying enough attention to the build sequence. I plan to build a couple more, and may be I'll add a bit more detail next time. Tim
  19. Remember the Comet didn't use the 17lb gun, it was known as the 77mm. It could be the camera angle, but the barrel you have fitted looks a bit long, the 77mm used a shorter version. Same ammunition, but cartridge and breach from the 3" AA gun to make it all fit in the turret. Tim
  20. a squirt of cellulose thinners from the airbrush may have the desired results. If not a good single malt should have the desired anesthetic result you need. Not had a cold in years .......................... πŸ˜‰
  21. The fumes from the glue pot should sort out the tonsillitis............................ Tim
  22. There is a treasure trove of photos here https://www.scorpion-miniature-models.co.uk/the-falklands-war Along with some very nice conversions if you are into 1/35 Tim
  23. Yes a warning, "enter at your own risk. we take no responsibility ........" and so on. I've campaigned to have one by any post you start πŸ˜‰ Tim
