  1. I've had this lurking about for several years, and entropy was slowing taking control. It reached the point of finish or ditch, so I finished it. Left the plans for extra detail, different markings, etc etc etc in the to-do pile. As you can see, I could not find a match for the original grey so the canopy is slightly different (paint mix changed over the years?) My excuse is that it has had a new canopy fitted for some reason. Comments correction welcome (not that I'm likely to make any changes now ) Must find some new material to use as a back-drop. This lots a bit creased now! Tim
  2. Interesting ideas. I already have a 14e, but one more won't hurt :-). Like the idea of using the wings to do an early IX. Indeed. The merlins were not the cleanest of engines. My excuse is that post war they would have had more time to keep the airframe clean :-) Tim
  3. Caunter should look good. Only seen one photo in that scheme. I'll see what I can do on the rust front. Never managed to get anything to look "rusty" rather than a brown sludge. Tim
  4. Thanks chaps. But what next? Airfix's 22 into a 24? I have a conversion set from years ago for a XII..... So may spits to choose from Tim
  5. I used the mix (using humbrol) for SCC15 found here http://www.mafva.net/other%20pages/Starmer%20camo.htm well worth bookmarking if you don't already have it. I think the only 17lb in Africa were the Pheasant versions (17lb on the 25lb mount). Tim
  6. I'd be a happy camper if mine ever comes out this good Tim
  7. A bit more progress on this, infact not far off finishing. Need to sort out a stone wall for the base, and paint the figure. Comments/corrections welcome. Tim
  8. A Norwegian post war spit for a change. The model was originally going to be the 1/72 Ventura kit as supplied (those who have tackled a Ventura (now Jays?) kit know what that entails). The kit comes with an early (large bulge over the cannons) C wing, and a separate E panel that means drilling out the C panel on the wing and replacing with the E. The wings are VERY thick so this not an ideal way forward. Easiest way would have been to shave off the cannon bulges and re-worked the panel lines. Where is the fun in the easy way . Luckily I had an old Ventura 14e I had picked up partially built. I stripped the wings off, swapped the radiators over and married these to the IX fuselage. hey presto, a post war IXe! Comments/corrections welcome. Just noticed that the prop has slipped a bit. Must replace the blue-tac with some super-glue Tim
  9. Yes Martin, you need to use this challenge as an opertunity to roll out V2.0 of your work. You can accessorize the Gotha as you go forward with the build. We expect you to give us the heads up as you do so. May be a spot of SWOT analysis as you bring your ideas to the table, definatly give you a win-win situation. Take it to the next level. Go Martin GO............. Thank heavens it home time, I'm feeling weak ...................... Tim
  10. Certainly hard to beleive thats 1/72nd. Top notch stuff Tim
  11. you're telling me. You should have seen what happened when I overcharged him for the club subs. ................................... Tim
  12. A few shots of the progress on the Mk VI. Going to be one of the Malta tanks. Most of what you see is out the box. The wheels are way over-engineered, but as long as you do the build over a box to catch the bits you keep dropping they can be done. Tim
  13. This is very useful. I have been wanting to do a Falklands Scorpion for ages. Got as far as the basic build, but never sure of the details (and where to get spare boxes etc from). May be this will kick-start the build again. Was at the Newbury show, and missed the tracks, oh well. Tim
  14. Must get mine finished. Half way there. So long snce I opened the box, I can not remember if these markings come with the kit or not? If not, where did you get them from? Cheers Tim
  15. Probably been mentioned elsewhere but seen at http://happy.ap.teacup.com/applet/runchickens/201205/archive Tim
  16. Anyone know what the aircraft at the back is here? http://www.flickr.com/photos/billchilton/4...157623826178790 Tim
  17. I've delt with Mike directly before now, and he was very helpful. No problems . Tim
  18. Always had a soft spot for the demon, probably dates from when as a nipper I used to long after the airfix daemon hanging in its bag in Wollies, with the red and yellow markings....... Never did manage to get one. Ho hum. Tim
  19. Looking good. Almost makes me want to put one in the stash (consider myself a horder rather than a modeler these days, IPHS anyone?) Tim
  20. Normaly stick to british aircraft, but I do like the look of the 177. Could do one of the post war eval machines couldn't I ................... Tim
  21. This in insane, but if it gets this kind of result, perhaps its time to enter the asylum..................... Tim
