  1. Very nice! Would love to have this and the BoB one next to each other on the shelf.
  2. Completely new for me as well. But as soon as I saw this "dark" one, I had to have it. Already have the SH kit in the stash so. I did not know much about the BOAC overall, but learning the connection to the Norwegian pilots definitly ticks all the boxes for me. Always fun to do some "local" history. Not only this, but seeing as they flew the Mosquito on the same route later in the war, I figured I needed one of those as well. So two decal sheets and a tamiya kit on the way. Busy few months ahead.
  3. Man, this GB is making me look up and order all types of things. Might have to try and fit a second build in.
  4. Thanks guys. Kids are up and running again, so no more "rest" for us adults. 😄 Made a bit of a mess of the black detailing, so I decided to give it a quick drybrush and close it up. Mistakes like these are were I have been gotten bogged down by trying to find time to re-do instead of just making the best of it and moving on. Since the interior is pretty dark and invisble in this plane I also decided to try out some Mig Dio drybrush paint on the walls to see the effect. This is their "Light metal" Shows up a bit light in this photo, but has a pretty nice and dull finish under normal light. Definitely something I will keep using to pick out details going forward. So now she is all closed up and I am ready to turn a page in the instructions for the build night tomorrow. Kit is truly just falling together at this point, but it's still a lot of fun to work with. Not everything has to be a challenge all the time. At least that is what I tell myself. 😅
  5. Well, almost 2 weeks later and I have managed to paint some stuff green. Yeah, thats pretty much it. Turns out having 66% of your kids sick with pneumonia will put some brakes on work, cleaning, chores, exercise, golf and even modelling. Not exactly what was needed for a build I started just to finish, but life finds a way sometimes. Thankfully the tides are turning and I was finally able to practice a bit with my airbrush that is still a pretty new tool for me. Some detailing to be done with a brush the next few nights and I hope to be able to close her up during the Tuesday build night coming up. As you might have noticed above I also have found a lightbox for cheap at the discount store in town. Now I just need to learn the camera on my iphone so that detail shots and 72nd scale builds should look better on screen. Size leaves a bit to be desired when this one is finished me thinks:
  6. Build night was great this week with quite a lot of partiipants, so not much got done, but at least some sub-assembly got completed. Bit more cleanup and I should be able to get some primer on the parts later tonight. As I am doing the fighter variant I realised a bit late that the instructions called for the rear seat to be facing forward. Tried looking at some images, but struggled to find some that showed the seat looking forward. Was this the case for Beaufighters without a rear gun? If so, I'll turn that seat around before priming. I am also wondering if I should open up the door in the wall between the forward and rear compartements to make the interior a bit more interesting.
  7. I've seen others recommend this as well. What do you need to thin/clean it? Is it a smelly one?
  8. After many hours of reading in this quite busy GB I figured I might have to give it a go myself. Looking through the shelves at my local store I found a Tamiya Beaufighter that I’ve been wanting to build in the past. Ever since getting back into the hobby during the pandemic though, I have had massive issues with actually finishing my builds. Usually I have a good flow until the first error, and then it just dies out. So, my main goal with this one is just to have a finished model built straight out of the box. No fancy detailing or complicated schemes. Just a “simple” gray/green. I apologize in advance for any inaccuracies. The added social pressure of all you knowing what I have started should hopefully help me keep the focus on this one and not be tempted by all the other shiny boxes in the stash. Bags will probably remain unbroken until my local groups build night this coming Tuesday. Thanks for stopping by. Hopefully I'll have an update soon.
  9. Oh how I long for a 2-seater and a Block 70.
  10. Oh I will definitely participate here. Way to many falcons in the stash.
  11. Armor in 1:56? Is this a callback to something I am to young to remember, or did they just decide that adding to 1:48 would be boring? Edit: Seems like this is an established scale I have just completely missed
  12. Looking forward to following this. Been wanting to get a Condor 109 for some time, but could never land on getting one of the kits with the decals included or buying some other model and decals separately.
  13. 1,8 in total? As in 0,6 each? That is surprisingly low. Shows how much correct placement matters.
