  1. Thank you, Mike, for posting that link. There are many great pics there that I had never seen in 50+ years of following military aviation. I'll add the link to my collection of aviation albums, and use the Fairey Battle pics when I get around to my MPM kit. Bill
  2. Sign me up for this one. I need a good reason to start one of the 1/700 kits here. Have not built one since the mid '70s.
  3. Please add me to the list. It will fit right in with the F-111 and F-16 builds. I have not built an Eagle since the days they were painted Air Superiority Blue.
  4. Sign me up, please. I have a few Fine Molds kits here.
  5. Please add me to the roster. I might try a YFM-1 in OD/NG or an F-16XL in Polish camo. There's also a box full of Luft '46 kits to fall back on. This should be fun.
  6. Add me to your list. I think the last gray jet I finished was a 1/48 F-16, about 30 years ago. It's about time to build a 1/72nd one. Now I just have to decide which one to pull out of the stash. The ancient Hasegawa kit (from ~ 1977) has the lt.blue / lt.gray scheme I always liked. The Kinetic F-16D Block 52+ kit has Polish markings. The Hasegawa F-16I is a break from gray and would go nicely with an F-16A configured for the Osirak reactor mission (if I build both). And F-16s were stationed at Niagara Falls, my old stomping grounds. I should build one of those. Decisions, decisions.
  7. Add me to the list. I have a few kits in the stash.
  8. Count me in on this one. I have several aircraft and armor kits in the stash that will work for September 1939, and a few for later. Right at the top of my list is a Fairey Battle (hoping Airfix releases a new one soon)
  9. Sign me up. I have a few in the stash and it should be a fun build. I hope to finish one this time. Bill
  10. +1 I could not agree more...though I might substitute a good Bourbon for the Stella when necessary.
  11. I'd like to join, and bring the Amodel Tomashevich Pegas to the party. It has two 5-cylinder air-cooled radials, and is double-ugly.
  12. Count me in. I have 40+ different kits in 1/72 that qualify, and another dozen or so that might. If the build doesn't start until 2014 or 2015, I have a fighting chance to get my workbench ready. Bill
  13. I'm in. This might be the motivation I need to get back to the workbench. Something from Poland, September 1939. Bill
  14. I have that kit, but it's in my storage shed. I can dig it out and scan the instructions tomorrow morning. All I'll need is your email address.
  15. You're good to go. It was released in 1972, according to this review im PMMS: http://www.perthmili...ya/tam35283.htm I know I had the kit before I moved to Alabama in 1977. I might even build it someday.
  16. Thank you, magman2, for posting that link to a very nice set of pics. It will come in handy. Bill
  17. Hi Savenosouls, I have that kit in my hands and my scanner is ready. All I need is your email address. Bill
  18. I think it's a very nice build of my Dad's favorite aircraft. I'm always on the lookout for Polish aircraft and armor. I am curious as to what "thoroughly nasty little kit" you used, and the specific Humbrol colors used. I have a few Revell and Heller kits in the stash, and I really need to build at least one. Looking forward to your P37B Los. Bill
  19. hythe, Here is a link to a ship model forum dedicated to the USS Iowa class ships. It should be a good place to ask. http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewt...f=47&t=4683 Bill
  20. Hi Ross, I have the Hasegawa and Monogram kits here, and the Hasegawa kit is really showing its age. The MER and pylon are molded together in the Monogram kit, but will seperate easily with the careful application of a razorsaw. And there's this: http://www.hyperscale.com/2008/features/f105d72rf_1.htm While scanning pics of the pylon I noticed a few shots that seemed to show a deeper pylon, the distance from top to bottom of pylon about double the usual, while maintaining the same nose-down attitude. It was new to me. Let me know what you'd like. Bill
  21. Ross, I'll crank up the scanner. I found a drawing in the Squadron/Signal publication "Thud", and a few good pictures in other books. All I need is an email address to send them. I also have a few Monogram F-105D kits, and they probably have the pylons. I'll check those tomorrow. Don't worry about a trade. I have the Trump kits here somewhere, along with way too many other kits. I'm trying to thin the herd as it is. And that Hasegawa kit has to be over 40 years old, and not even on my build list. If you can use the pylon, that's great. Bill
  22. Ross, Are you still looking for that pylon? I have a spare Hasegawa F-105D in the stash, but I won't be able to dig it out until tomorrow. In the meantime, I can scan drawings and photos for you. Bill
  23. Hi James, It has been about 45 years since I fooled with balsa wood and flying models, but I like your project. I just can't tell from the pics how big it is or what it uses to get in the air. As for making it look more scale, round off the nose to make it look less like a pyramid. Please keep us posted on your progress and test flights. Good luck. Bill
  24. Looks like rossm got here first with good information, but I'll add what I was slowly typing on a Word document: Hi Paul, I have gone through some of my books to try to answer your questions. First, the load you describe seems to be common, except for the ECM pod. The F-105G mounted AN/ALQ-105 ECM pod halves along the lower fuselage, and left both outer pylons free for Shrikes or other ordnance. I don’t recall seeing a F-105G with wing mounted ECM, but it was common on F-105F and F-105D aircraft. As for the centerline tank, most photos show it overall light gray, but I did find a couple that show it painted green on top. The wing tanks were mostly green over gray, though there were exceptions. Another common load was two Standards and two Shrikes with a centerline tank. Hope that helps. Bill edited to note than I can give you book/page information on the pictures I mentioned, if that will help.
