Thanks Giorgio .Could I ask if there are any images of Option2 available ? Any idea if the rocket armed XVIII was ever used operationally ,as this may produce an intresting subject Kind regards Dave
-
Also available in 48th. (must have missed it !!) Much obliged Many thanks Dave

Hi Derek Anymore info on that ? I've got an Academy XIVe in the stash that I would like to complete as a XVIII but am searching for a scheme that is a little more "inspirational" than the standard RAF camo. Regards Dave

In my view there is only one problem with Paragon....It's not made anymore !!!! Dave.

I've had the briefest scan in the Morgan/Shacklady book , at the Spiteful. RB251 at first glance has a cockpit colour that does not appear to be green , and would a THUM Spit in 1956 still be fitted with armour plate ? This probably does not help at all.....but that is the nature of our wonderful hobby Dave

Duxford's Mk24 has the green interior ,so personaly I would go with that (although it has been the subject of rebuilds ) .Never heard of an operational Spit having a black cockpit ,but no doubt Edgar will pick up this thread for the difinitive answer. Dave

I recently bought the Aeroclub set on flea-bay and and it certainly ended up more expensive than anticipated !!...Still thats Life ! . I plan to do a small-bore Avon example so needed the approprite parts ,but if you can work the F.6 tail end from the basic kit , then this the way to go. On a slightly different tack :Has anyone tried the NeaOmega cockpit set ? They look nice ,but how well do they fit ? Regards Dave

I may be possibly/probably wrong ,but these seem to be in the colours of 500 County of Kent Sqdn.R.Aux.A.F .I seem to remember it parked at Rochester Airport , decades ago after it had been restored by MAPS http://www.mapsl.co.uk/ Wondered what happened to it ! Cheers Dave

Sorry to learn about this issue ,but have you tried actually phoning them ? I was caught up in the unfortunate credit card scam , and they could not have been more helpful . As for the cost : they do offer a 10% reduction for pre-ordered items at the airshows ,which is basicly a good deal. Not probably what you want right now , but worth bearing in mind ....Plus, of course they a decent bunch of lads !! Dave. -
Selwyn you are corect !! I would urge all Spitfire buffs to watch the IWM DVD 'Spitfire -Frontline fighter '.It follows a DI of a 604 Sqdn. Spit Mk1 filmed at Abingdon in May 1940 ..and will answer many other questions beside .Not sure though but some may be available on Youtube. Have fun Dave

Hi All, The image shown is a part of G.G's mosqito that had been recovered by a Dutch archaelogy society and been presented to the Station Museum at RAF Scampton. It features the starboard fuselage roundel (Note the strake ) but had been mounted for presentation incorrectly (presumably) as part of a wing ! .Also on display is a piece of the port fuselage containing the KB of the sreial but I can't remember if there are any remnants of invasion stripes. Tours of Scampton are (or were !?) by appointment only ,but were FOC . You also get to visit a certain dogs grave ,but for PC reasons must remain nameless !! Dave

Absolutely agree ! First rate service that would shame certain others , and a product quality that is probably underestimated by those who have not tried them. May they continue and prosper Dave

A little outside my usual sphere of intrest , but I'd go for it . Maybe in time for the Birds' return to the water in 2012 . Dave

Again, from memory of the SAM article, I seem to recall that the airfield is St. Merryn http://www.content-delivery.co.uk/aviation...s/StMerryn.html Zoom in and check out the shed complex to the left of the picture. Regards Dave

Sir ! I stand corrected !!

The image including the Seafire etc........Wouldn't that make a wonderful diorama project ?..Beyond me though , I'm afraid ! Dave

Really had enough of this kind of programe. Some celeb regurgitating what is already out there claiming it to be newly uncovered evidence and then finishing with a flight in a Lanc or a two seat Spitfire. Time to move on. Dave -
Hi All, Many thanks for all the advice. Better get practicing now !!! Happy modelling Dave
-
Many thanks .Can you give me any guidence on actual ideal pressure settings .My guage shows Bar & PSI . Thanks again Dave
-
Hi All Just got me a compressor with a pressure guage !! Are ther any rules of thumb & advice on how to get the best from altering the pressures ? Many thanks Dave

Always fancied the idea of a fighter revetment myself ,but as usual, ends up on the back burner. Having now the concept clearly established in mind I think I would go down the road of using embossed plasticard (or scribing my own) and scratching from there. My apppetite was further whetted by a vist to my local Hobbycraft who now carry a wide range of landscaping products. Have fun and I hope to be following in your footsteps Dave

Thanks Tim ...twigged that it was black (or some shade of dark gray....but won't go there just yet!! ) I suppose the question I SHOULD have asked is : Why is the seat black when all else is green ? Cheers Dave
-
Great stuff Tim, Any thoughts on the seat colour ? Dave

Hi All, Can anybody put me straight about the Bostons exhausts ? . I note that some have a single outlet port on the side of the nacelle while others don't but not sure why ? My model will be of Boston III Z2249 of 226 Sqdn .Although the decal instruction sheet does not show the single port any help to confirm this would be gratefully appreciated. Cheers Dave
-
Hi All , Working through my loft insulation on this kit and have a couple of questions that you may be kind enough to help me with What would be your opinion as to the color of the u/c bays ? I am somewhat confused about the exhaust system ,some aircraft have an exhaust port on the outside of the nacelle others don't. I would like to build Boston III Z2249 MQ-D from 226 Squadron from the Kits at War sheet .The profile shows this machine did not have this port....but mistakes can be made !..research being the enemy of the finished model etc. TIA Dave
