  1. Beautiful work! One of the best examples of weathering I've ever seen!
  2. Hello fellow britmodellers, This is my third and last model in this year. Tamiya 1/72 P-47D “Razorback”. At first I wanted to follow my line of American fighters in British service but there were some good reasons not to: 1. My girlfriend wanted a plane in natural metal finish 2. We wanted to try nose art on a model and American fighters (especially P-47) are the best planes for it 3. This is P-47D! This plane represents the American way in aircrafting: bigger, faster, higher! So apart from the model there was some aftermarket bought: 1. Hamilton propeller from AIRES 2. Eduard photo etched cockpit details (found locally for “bubletop” version only, but they are mostly the same) 3. Decals for the P-47D from Techmod I’ve chosen the plane of polish fighter-pilot cpt. Boleslav “Mike” Gladych named Pengie III after the nickname of his then girlfriend. I recommend to read his biography which is very interesting and includes evacuating planes from Poland to Romania, escaping Romanian internment camp, joining French Air Force and participation in several fights (with unconfirmed victories), joining No. 303 Polish Fighter Squadron… Also he almost shot down the Churchill’s aircraft Most of the victories he claimed while serving in famous 56th Fighter Group under col.Zemke (61st Fighter Squadron under major.Francis Gabreski). His wartime 'score' totals 17 claimed destroyed, 2 probables, 1 shared damaged, and 5 ground kills. Now back to the model. As it was expected, tamiya quality is on exceptional level. Building was without problem, unfortunately I lost closing cylinder for the undercarriage cover and made it from scratch. Model was painted by AK Xtreme Metal Aluminium after black semi-gloss primer (found gloss black after painting, always check your stash ). Other colours are from tamiya and gunze. Decals are very good, but the serial number is wrong so I’ve made it from two different numbers on a decal’s sheet. Well, from here I hope you will enjoy the model and wish you the Happy New Year!!! Alex
  3. Well, all you need is to turn on calm music, a lot of time, a lot of superglue and some hairs that your girlfriend spreads all over the place while brushing 😁. But seriously, a good glue solves 90% of problems with wiring.
  4. Hello fellow britmodellers, My second model on this forum. I wanted to build Tamiya ever since I came back to scale modeling and here is the realisation of my wish. Legendary F4U-1D in 72th scale and in the Royal NAVY livery. What can I say - Tamiya is really, REALLY good. Crisp details and panel lines, two options of canopy, great assembly engineering - all you need to build a proper Corsair. This time I've also used Eduard photo etched kit for the cockpit, decals from Xtradecals: Yanks with Roundels Part 3 and have made some conversions: 1. Cut edges of the wing 2. Air intakes on the sides of fuselage and outlet on the belly 3. Improved tailwheel frame 4.Made a frame inside tailwheel bay (I didn't take a photo during the process and now it's barely visible on the completed model 🙂) 5. Drill the identification lights, fill it with clear varnish and then add clear colours Hope you’ll enjoy the result of my work, Alex

  12. Beautiful build! Gun covers look very realistic👍.
  13. Thank You very much, friend! I was uploading it late at nigh and was too sleepy 😆. It looks even more stupid because of the mark "Royal Navy" on the side of the plane (which is clearly visible on the photo 😓). I've edited the title. I hope no one was offended😉. Look forward to see your build! Alex
  14. Thank You, Pete! Well, there were a lot of trial and error models before this one😅. It's my first finished model in two years since "comeback"😄 Thank You! Glad to be here!
  15. Hello fellow britmodellers I’m new to this forum but in scale modeling I am since childhood. Of course, first models were assembled with tons of glue and were painted with brush, as a result layers was so thick that wings ended up being twice its original thickness he-he. After almost 8 years of pause I’ve decided to come back to my hobby and this time even bought an air compressor, although with Chinese airbrush (can’t have it all at once, huh?) and have made some models to practise. Most of them ended up in a trash can but some (two actually) survived and maybe I’ll show you them someday as my first steps after pause. Nevertheless, today I’m going to show you my first ‘professional’ (as I think) build. Eduard F6F-5N profipack in 1/72 scale. Build was OOB, only Eduard F6 stencils decal was bought additionally (to my surprise it wasn’t in the box, well, isn’t this a profipack?). Painted with mr.color and tamiya acrylic paints and with my new H&S ultra airbrush. Eduard’s decals with removable carrier film are thin and looking good after placing them, but stencils that I’ve bought additionally were from older series and film was quite visible on the surface of a model. So after three coats of tamiya gloss varnish there was a lot of polishing work to go. I’ve used 6000 to 8000 polishing clothe and was actually satisfied with the result. Final steps were white filter, panel wash by Humbroll, dust, sand and that was it. Hope you’ll enjoy the result of my work, Alex
