  1. Looks like the sooty outlet in the top pic is from the turbo ? The grill on the next pic is the engine-bay hot air outlet. What is the other pipe in front of the grill in the 2nd photo ?
  2. DAP Beaufort / Beaufighter undercarriages I've worked on were interior green (original Humbrol 78, not the current version which is too dark). Most were later overpainted in foliage green or sometimes underside blue, as were inside floors when badly scuffed. Later U/Cs on both types were beefed up to prevent collapse in cross-wing ground-loops (common). Definitely no mudguards or oil tanks on U/Cs.

  4. A photo of DAP Beaufort A9-557 when it crashed on 3 jeeps. This aircraft is now in the Australian War memorial Museum storage awaiting a new building to display it. Two photos of the repair of the belly (aft torpedo bay) of A9-557 in 2002 by myself & a friend.

  6. Boring ... Fokker Friendship, DC-8, B-747s, A-330 🥱 tho the stewardesses are nice. Cessna twin of some description thru a tropical storm 😨 Interesting - Lake Buccaneer at night.
  7. thanks jb 👍 I have some 110mm dome shaped bits & enough other parts to scratch something very similar so I'll save myself the $100 cost of the kit (not big on full interiors anyway).
  8. If you really like this vehicle you should consider the superior Takom kit .... or the 1/87th Roco kit. Both are better detailed than the Revell one. The Takom kit has alternative pattern tyres & all wheels steerable (but like Revell, fragile steering rods). Crew from the old Tamiya LandRover ambulance have berets & could be used as crew for the Luchs 2.

Looking at my fathers photos in Port Said 1947-48, civil type staff cars were black but most still with the white black-out markings around wheel-arches etc. Queen Mary trailer was a very light colour (faded sand?) but the Bedford OY-MW tractor was RAF blue. Bonnets sides were removed & the top sections lifted an inch at the front middle to improve cooling. Markings were "RAF" & serial no. in black on white bumper, white "RAF" & "SP" in a circle under it on door, "D8" on LH mudguard. QL fuel-bowser cab was RAF blue but the tank appears to be desert sand or maybe yellow - there is a circular warning disc (B/W or black/yellow?) raised behind the cab while refueling. Thornycroft Nubian truck (military cab) was a very light colour (white?) w/black mudguards - serial no. was crossed out, demobbed for civil sale? Crews wore very faded desert army uniforms. Most vehicles other than civilian type staff cars & my father's unit had serial numbers & prominent RAF markings including roundel.
  10. My father was head of MT in Port Said, 1947-48. He drove Queen Mary trailer, Coles crane, a US staff car & American La France fire-engine as well as the usual Brit lorries.
  11. Hi guys, Not quite model related but I have a number of WW2 aircraft instruments & am trying to ID what aircraft they were for. Gauges are ASI, Alt., Fuel & brake-pressure, most probably for Spitfire, Beaufighter, Mosquito etc. I did find a RAAF listing but it has a few mistakes. A parts manual I have for Bristol Aircraft lists five different ASI's for the Beaufort. Many U.S. types listed here - AeroAntique On-Line parts Library https://aeroantique.com/pages/downloads I would like to display a model on a base with the correct ASI gauge. Thanks Raafif
