  1. Thanks everyone, i'm so pleased you guys like my little scooter Been bashin' a small simple base for it. Here's where I'm at. I want to add some more resin details and maybe a figure or two? Thanks for looking in.
  2. Thank you for all of the wonderful and encouraging comments. I'm super stoked that you folks like the little feller. I'm in the process of bashing up a tiny base and trying to get my fumble fingers to cobble a figure or two into some shape. If it all pans out I'll post some pics. Thanks again for looking in.
  3. Super-Duper and out of sight! Love these little critters out of all proportion to their size and cost. Your wonderful painting and construction make them a joy to see. I need to find time to have a bash at these too. I just wish they'd stretched the hull of the Sherman just a bit, but hey, that's what plastic card and putty are for . These kits are so cheap and, well fun they encourage bashing and morphing them into the weird and exotic. I've already seen a recovery bash of the Sherman, a neat bit of bashing to be sure. Did you do the damage to the Tiger? And do you have any more of these cartoon critters in the works? Always fantastic to see your latest efforts, thanks so much for brightening my day. Dan
  4. Thanks John, you are right about the cordage. I used some twisted lead wire of too course a size, next time I should have added a tie to the roll on the jump seat under the helmet too. Sigh, there is always something. Funny thing is, that's one of the great spurs to my modelling. 'Get the next one right', which of course I never do. Still the fun is in trying Thanks Bob, glad you like it. I have finished the basic kit and added a post in the ready for inspection section. 148-tamiya-bmw-R75-with-sidecar Dan
  5. Finished, This kit was sitting on the Shelf of Doom for several months in basic primer. I had a couple of hours to my self so I pressed on. Great little kit and a blast to build and paint. I've started a little base for it, nothing fancy. Nice to know I got another one off the Shelf of Doom I hope you like it. Dan
  6. Progress; Just a bit of paint. Coming along okay, needs some matt coat and a touch of chalk. I suppose I'll need a base for it too Thanks for looking in. Dan
  7. Progress; New base completed. Trying out the new base. Not too much more before this ones ready for the display case. Thanks for looking in. Dan
  8. Progress; Flat coat, some scratches & highlights with watercolour pencils and a new one for me some oversprays of Tamiya colours thinned with straight alcohol ( 80% ISP) Very thin and at low pressure. I don't know where I read about this but thank you to that person who posted it as I could get it to work very easily and I can see some interesting potential in the technique for fading and weathering. I'm trying for restrained and subtle ( both of which I don't well ) Getting there and not too much to finish, though I want to do a more desert looking base for this one. I hope you like. Dan
  9. Progress; Not 100 percent factual but it will do. Still very rough but I'm happy with how much I got completed within the long weekend. Time to open a cold one, or two Thanks for stopping' by.
  10. Progress; Basic paint, a bit of overspray and some little fixes but nothing too bad. I'm still going through my decals to see if I can find some numbers to use, otherwise I'm going to have to paint em Thanks for looking in.
  11. Progress; Cockpit finished, just some junk and paint. I ended up using the IP sticker as I stuffed up using the decal Came out just the same, so no harm in the end. Basic primer on now showing I still have some little clean ups before I shoot the RLM 02. Most of the changes are on the lower wing but pretty straight forward with a Dremel and some epoxy putty. I hope to get the Basic paint on soon so I can mess about with the markings. Thanks for dropping by for a look. Dan
  12. My latest Squirrel. Since I doubt very much that Tamiya will ever make one of these So I thought, why not? I've been toying with the idea of of bashing a SCW D from the basic Cute series bf109e. The major stumbling block was figuring out how to do a two bladed prop. Once I got my head around cutting up the two three bladed props I had on hand( I had an extra prop after the g6 conversion.) I was good to go. Here's where I'm at right now as I wait for some putty to dry off. A lot rough but these critters are just for fun and grins. I hope you like her. I'm dusting off the g6 so I can shoot some paint this weekend, well that's the plan anyway. Thanks for dropping in. Dan
  13. Thank you to for all your encouraging comments and interest. I am super happy with the way this turned out and look forward to tackling a Panther with zimerrit next.
  14. I get easily distracted… ( Understatement of the week ) I saw this little tank in the shop two weekends ago and thought, Why Not? The kit is a beautiful Tamiya 1/48 scale wonder. I just falls together and then you can paint it to your hearts content. I hope Tamiya makes some more modern armour in this scale as this was a ton of fun. Thanks for looking in. I off to … Squirrel
  15. Progress; Hopefully I can get a bit more work done on it during the week. Dan
  16. Just a quick little distraction. Such a nice kit builds really quickly as I had the basic construction, priming and basic camouflage done in a couple of longish sessions over Sat-Sun-Monday. Now I'm on to the weathering, the turrets pretty well there with just a bit of detail painting and some chalks left to do. I've also started on the running gear even though most of this will be invisible under the skirts. I hope that sales of this kit encourage Tamiya to do more modern armour. Thanks for looking in.
  17. Thank you all for your kind comments and encouragement. I am so pleased that you guys think my little Viper is looking good. As to the chipping I used a little bit of liquid mask on a few spots but most of the chips are made with the tip of an Xacto blade and a little bit of coarse sand paper for the scratches. I have gone back over the stripes with fine painted chips in a lighter red shade to 'fill in " the oversized chips. To be honest I think I went too far with the chipping and I will keep working the finish until I think it's right. Lots more washes and highlights to go before I'm through. So lots more chances to stuff it all up To take a break from all the painting I shot a little stop motion video, The seven year old me was really happy but the old basrad me was upset that I couldn't get iMovie to output a decent frame rate, sigh. Thanks again for the kind feedback, I'm very grateful for your support.
  18. Progress; Wings starting to get some paint. I have some tricky masking for the rear red stripe, fingers crossed I don't stuff it up. ZOOOOOOOOOOM !!!! I'm just a big kid. Hopefully I've get a bit more done this long weekend Thanks Pete for you kind comments. Dan
  19. If you can pick this kit up on the cheap I would suggest you do it. I paid full whack and I'm loving it to bits. A average modeller could knock this guy out in a couple of weekends and have a great time doing it, and a neato looking build. I'm just messing about with the painting because that's what I like to do. Last pics this weekend as I'm off to start my never ending Honey- DO list One side finished, sorta... Back end finished, sorta... And some close ups to show what I'm up to. I like the patina that is building up even though shooting pics under lights tends to just wash the whole lot out to a lumpy off white. Thanks for stopping by to look at my ramblings. Dan
  20. I had more fun painting today. I'm just working my way around the model to get the basic painting done. Thanks for dropping in for a look.
  21. One of the great joys of these little critters is the freedom to do whatever you want without a rivet counter in sight. Last pictures for the weekend, where did all that time go? Starting the stripes: and the back end: Overall. I'm just junking along doing little bits and pieces as I go. Thanks for stopping by for a look. Dan
  22. A bit more paint, this time some off white; Letting the whole lot dry off for a bit.
  23. Progress?: I love painting but it is always a two steps forward, one side back and one step to the side exercise for me. Here is where I'm at right now. Base colour on, and starting with beating up the finish. I need to get a bit more done before I tackle the stripes. I have just about got the black base the way I want it, but it still needs a touch of love. Once the highlights go on it will come back to a more white colour. Thanks for looking in. Dan
  24. This is it for the weekend, not bad for a few hours work. I would like to build another one and add a cockpit and landing gear as well I did break my rule and added some 2mm strips to the interior of the exhaust cans as they looked pretty week. Progress; ( Basic primer ) I made a couple of cuts with a razor saw to allow the rear fairing to be put on after painting. This means that all the major seams work can be done now. I have looked over this basic primer and there should only be a little touch up to do to get the finish coat looking good. The kit goes together surprisingly well. Thanks for looking in. Dan
