  1. Hi Gerard, I used Tamiya XF-82 RAF Ocean Grey, Xtracolor ANA 613 Olive Drab and Xtracolor Light Gull Grey. Many regards Matt 🙂
  2. Latest update, camouflage scheme now painted, now needs its gloss coat prior to decalling. Canopy to be added and then drop tanks to be added. Many regards Matt
  3. Here we go, the aircraft has been given a base coat of Tamiya XF-1 Black. Next I think will be the main camouflage colour of Ocean Grey, the aircraft I've decided to model will be of a Mustang Mk.IV from 122 Squadron at Peterhead in May 1945, the aircraft was initially painted in US Sea Grey ANA 603 which was then repainted in Ocean Grey on its upper surfaces. Many thanks Matt
  4. Mustang is now on its Undercarriage and wheels, not much left now in the box.. Canopy and canopy frame, Pitot Tube and Drop Tanks.. Almost Ready to start painting I think 🙂 Regards Matt
  5. Hi Mark, yes no problem mate Quickly painted them last night, Bronze on the Left, Kit Part on the right. Regards Matt
  6. Well its definitely been a while awaiting parts from the Czech Republic. I've decided to use the landing light from the Overtrees Kit and will be definitely using the Bronze undercarriage parts 🙂 Regards Matt
  7. Thought I'd pop my placeholder down for my build. In a departure from my usual RAF WW2 Builds - I'm going to build this 1/48 Hobbyboss Kit as a Royal Canadian Air Force BAe CT-155 Hawk Training aircraft which is part of the NFTC (Nato Flying Training in Canada) at CFB Cold Lake & CFB Moose Jaw Here's the obligatory sprue shots 🙂 Not included in the photos are Montex Canopy Masks, Flying Leathernecks Miniature Detonation Cord, Reskit MB Mk.10LH Ejection Seats and Flightpath ASCI Pod with AIM-9L Sidewinder Looking forwards to this one 🙂 Many regards Matt
  8. Well made a decision, I've purchased a Overtrees P-51D kit from Eduard along with a set of the bronze undercarriage legs.. I'd assembled the undercarriage but have decided not to use the kit parts, so despite the Mustang currently sitting on the undercarriage legs they're not currently fixed into the fuselage. So.. until the kit arrives from Czech Republic am going to park the Mustang in the Maintenance Unit awaiting Parts. Thanks for looking Regards Matt
  9. Have been perusing the copy of Squadrons : The North American Mustang Mk.IV in Western Europe that I had purchased and realised that the majority of photographs that are of RAF Mustangs on the Ground... the Wheel Covers are closed. There are a few which are open but a fair few are with the Doors closed.. so I think I may go with that option.
  10. Had a bit of a issue earlier whilst installing or trying to install the undercarriage landing light.. it pinged off into the ether and has been consumed by the carpet monster 😕 not sure as of yet whether to try and obtain a replacement...
  11. Thanks Steve much appreciated mate. Regards Matt Thanks Mark much appreciated mate Regards Matt
  12. Thanks Patrice very much appreciated 🙂 Regards Matt
  13. Here a bit more of an update Put the Look Instrument panel together.. as usual looks fabulous. just needs the Rudder pedals installed behind. The Clear sprue was missing part 8 which was one of the cockpit lights. Due to the size of it am not altogether bothered about sourcing a replacement from Eduard.. however its just a pain and another canopy separated itself from the sprue.. thankfully no damage. Undercarriage bay constructed, no drama here, good fit all around. Painted in colours which were laid out in the Mk.IV kit which are different to the D-20 kit (Chrome rather than Chromate Yellow) Wing constructed and added to the airframe. Right hand wing left a slight gap at the side of the aircraft, which has been filled with AK Putty. I've also put some putty in the panel lines in front of the gun bays, may do another coat or two to simulate the puttied wings. As @franky boy mentioned in his F-51D build the bar between the Undercarriage doors is badly warped, mine snapped so have tried to secure it the best I can. Thanks for looking Regards Matt
  14. Looking great there James , the bar between the undercarriage was the same on mine too.. right pain Cheers Matt
  15. Indeed he does lol, however I'm sure he will cope 😀
  16. Thanks Mark - the kit is going well at the moment, Lots of detail and well engineered. Next come the wings.. Regards Matt
  17. Some more updates on this lovely P-51 kit from Eduard 🙂 Other fuselage side completed, not as much to do on this side of the fuselage other than painting and putting the decals on. Not too fiddly and with a liberal amount of Microsol they went down excellently. Decided to put a pilot in the aircraft, however had exhausted my supply of RAF pilots so painted up this pilot from the P-47 Thunderbolt kit in RAF uniform colours, Inititally I copied the colour schemes which were detailed in Tamiya's 1/32 Spitfire Mk.IX, however after looking at him just felt the helmet was too dark.. (I know Type C helmets were produced in a number of varying colours including black) I changed the colour to Brown. And then the fuselage was closed up... and with the Pilot in his seat you can see.. almost nothing lol.. Thanks for looking
  18. Thanks Graham that's extremely interesting, many regards Matt 🙂
  19. Yes I believe it's the radio fit, there's 3 different panels, the usaaf instructions has you mount the compass on the sidewall whilst the raf one is mounted on the floor. There's an iff panel which isn't used on raf aircraft... mad that the US had rear warning systems in late ww2... that's just one sidewall. The detail from Eduard is fantastic.
  20. Ahh I'd not realised it was the kit pilot with the addition of an o2 mask. Looks like at totally different figure Col.. Yes will definitely miss PJ Productions, wish somebody would pick their moulds up. Really need some WWII RAF Pilots and the way things are going some Cold War and Modern RAF Pilots wouldn't go amiss either looking at the stash. 😃 Cheers Matt
  21. Wow Col that looks absolutely fantastic, really love the detailed interior. Was so gutted when I closed mine up how little you can see, specifically if the crew are seated in the aircraft too.. Also hope you don't mind asking where did you get the figure from? He looks brilliant.. always on the lookout for seated RAF flight crew since the Closure of PJ Productions. Many regards Matt
  22. Thanks Mark, it's coming along well. Yet another build that's going way too fast lol... 😀 Regards Matt
  23. Well onto the Fuselage - started with the Starboard side first.. The fuselage half as per the cockpit floor etc has quite a few parts compared to other P-51 Mustangs on the Market. I also checked out a pdf of the Mustang IV Profipack too just to check if any parts on the build were specific to the Mustang IV.. and there were indeed, some difference in the electronic panels so made sure that they were added instead. Thanks for looking Regards Matt
  24. Thanks Mark very much appreciated 🙂 Regards Matt
  25. Well thats step A done in the instructions.. went really quick.. haven't yet decided whether or not to put in a pilot or use the photo-etched seatbelts which Eduard put in with the Instrument panel... hmmm.. decisions decisions... 😄 The detail is really impressive for Injection moulding imho, very fine details and lots of very small parts.. (thankfully I managed to avoid the carpet monster.. phew 🙏) Thanks for looking and next - onto the fuselage interior.. Regards Matt
