  1. if this is the case it was a bloody cheek , they flew it in to get the money knowing it won't fly out again and not displaying either huh !! they can't be too bad at planning then hope they are charged storage so they can recoup the display fee !!
  2. the blades new colour scheme is a big improvement on their barclays bank blue scheme !! nice shots cheers !!
  3. it may also be a factor that green may wear better and look cleaner for longer than other colours !!
  4. may be a whole host of reasons such as , camouflage in green seas , as said to remind them of grass , it may be a ministry rule similar to countryside buildings like chicken sheds etc in certain areas have to be painted agricultural green , the non slip paint is only supplied in that colour , green is well known to be a restfull colour provoking more thaughtful actions why a lot of aircraft trains cockpits etc were painted in pale greens at one time , and it may just be that green is the most attractive after trying most colours i seem to remember brick red being used and blue niether of them looked good
  5. sad but true no one in their right minds goes into a shop buys something then leaves it behind !! the same is applicable here there must be lots of people in the surrounding areas to these airshows who are only once a year visitors to an airshow ( their local one !! ) and i am sure lots donated thinking they would see it at the show !! don't come begging again !! stand on your own feet !! i for one will not pay for non delivered goods and a big bumper book of excuses !!
  6. match box everytime i built 100's of kits as a child and the matchbox beaufighter was one of the memorable ones that stood out at the top of the pile i seem to remember it being a joy to build and standing out above other kits of the time in the mid-late 70's people worry too much i feel about a mm here and a slightly wrong dimension / curve there than seeing it as a bigger picture and enjoying the build it looks like a beaufighter to me and it is a nice build ( job done ! ) matchbox you were stars !!
  7. have a garden spray filled with clean water , spray a fine mist in surrounding areas to knock down dust leave large surfaces around your spraying area damp then spray your oviously dry and dust free model model we used to use this technique when sprayin 1/1 scale cars , for a glass finnish , as all the dust in surrounding areas and in the air is knocked down to the floor and thus not blown arround whilst spraying!!
  8. the only real threat in painting is applying spirit based paint over oil or water based paints .. the only thing to look out for applying acrylics over enamels is adhesion issues rather than reaction issues !! as they may repel water based paints on top of them when painted or easy to remove once dried as mentioned a barrier coat of clear should help matters ..
  9. this seems like very poor organisational skills !! a terrible state of affairs after all the money donated and peoples time taken !! high summer = all main uk airshows questions should be being asked !!
  10. another couple of visitors G-TAMB and twin G-TAMC engine and rubber tail rotor drive belt G-TAMB pilot of both aircraft filling in G-TAMBs' log G-TAMB head on after take off and sideways on and G-TAMC tucked up for the night !!
  11. looking good paul , seen your stuff on millitary modellings site , all built to a good quality , have to say the diorama's on that site are great !! but the forum seems a little slow moving !!
  12. depends on tastes i enjoy old stuff like that more enjoyable flying than a lot of jets i used to like the skyhawks displaying to pink floyds shine on you crazy diamond !! it's what summer is all about when you're 20 a relaxing air display , pink floyd , cider , and marahuana !! and watch flat out on your back , if you've never tried you'll never understand !!
  13. early days in his flying career !! guess when you are young and just learning something like flying it's an easy mistake , took some nerve to do something like that !!
  14. it was a white harvard in zero markings , this aircraft is still in the uk although now in another colour scheme , amongst others he also owned a piper navajo wich was the aircraft he did the round the world trip in and also used for a brief time in the airline charter business he is indeed a very underestimated aviator !!
  15. being a gary numan fan !! not something most cough but hey ho !! followed him for years concerts etc !! the radial pair .. when he displayed a harvard pair demo team circa 1988.. but not a lot know he passed out on single jets ... enjoy !!! respect !!
  16. love to catch all them at a show fantastic shots of great old aircraft ..
  17. dunno but i remember building a revell 1/32 stuka and unsure wether the colour on the 21st century kit snake decals is incorrect or another unit as the revel snake was bright red and white !!
  18. the words , hardback , rare , out of print , and it is the first edition , couple this with the good condition and it is relatively cheap . later editions will be considarably cheaper for use and not a book specialist !! the real key to value is " first edition !! " sometimes this may only have been a few 100 books before changing printers etc which would then have to be the seccond edition ..
  19. think he wants the colours the aircraft is in , rather than colours to mix the arrived at shades ( if that makes sense )
  20. if they get their way with their plans to make staff work for a month without pay to help them through the credit crunch there could be a whole new range of tail art , spray can black , bas***ds or t***s anyone !! just a radical idea but how about directors , shareholders , and executives do a month of using the huge proffits they were crowing from the rooftops about in the good times , instead of putting hard working folks homes in danger !! edited because of missing punctuation making it look racist not intended but if anyone saw and was offended appologies !!
  21. meteor , wasp , and lynx for me in any order !!!
  22. awesome shots !! my only comments are , sometimes even pro's come away with worse results !! you realy do have a good technique , keep it up !! love the lynxes..
  23. cracking shots shaun !! can't realy find anything to criticise i am on a photography site regular and have worked freelance and have seen pro's produce worse work with aircraft !! as with most things ( i paint as well ) if you have a love for the subject , you will produce better than someone with equal skill who does not !! composition is good whether unconcoisly or deliberate there is good use of the rule of thirds in there , there are nice choices of angles on the subjects , focus and exposure is good the wingwalkers and tiffy dragging the chute are my favourites !!
  24. i used to work with merc trucks but left just as the actros was released in 97 all it's wiring electrical systems etc are i believe run through one fibre optic cable running through the vehicle .. don't know how much is applicable to this truck but i seem to remember italeri making a truck accessories kit for their trucks !!
