I've opened a plain chocolate Kit-Kat in your honour - I couldn't risk posting it so I've eaten it for you.
Lovely paint finish and wholeheartedly approve of the engine change. Carb trumpets sticking up through the hood is more in keeping with the old-school look I reckon.

Nice work. The rust/weathering effects on the exhaust system are particularly effective.

The server 500 errors are rapidly becoming more frequent now. Any news regarding the issue from the site hosting company?

It'll be great to see the Renault 4CV completed, I remember those bimbling around the UK roads when I was a kid but never knew anyone had made a kit of one.

More superb quality work, this is a joy to follow. I'm really pleased the tacho decal patch suggestion worked so well, it looks flawless.

Lovely car and a great model of it! Very nicely built and finished.

Great idea. The lighter coloured upholstery will show the interior details much better.

True! Many years ago at our local county show they held a drag event over a 1/8th of a mile strip, which attracted all sorts of American muscle-cars. It was a proper eliminator event and the final came down to an American firebreathing something-or-other with thumping great slicks one end and a supercharger at the other - and a Caterham 7. The Caterham beat it hands down. 😀

Oooh! '60s American iron. Can't beat it! Looking forward to following this one.

Your wish is my command...
Gocheer upgraded airbrush kit I got lucky and picked it up when it was on offer at £59.99 but it's still a good price for what you get I reckon.

Just a brief note with apologies for absence...
The 50+ year old air canister powering my Humbrol airbrush has almost run out and I had to make a decision - whether to continue with it and buy a new one or bite the bullet and buy a "proper" airbrush. I feel I've progressed far enough to do one justice and the more I used my Humbrol the more I realised that (a) it's a bit of a blunderbuss, and (b) I could do so much more with a decent airbrush that I presently brush-paint. Not wanting to run before I can walk I went for a "generic" airbrush and mini-compressor set, finding one a slight cut above the norm in that the airbrush came with 0.2, 0.3 and 0.5mm needles, a total of three paint cups, a pipette and a full cleaning kit. The compressor has three pressure options (15, 25 and 30psi) and it was going for an unusually low price on Amazon. Having got it I've been amazed by the difference, going from a blunderbuss to a sniper rifle in airbrushing terms. I know this lot is second nature to most of you but to someone like me it was a revelation. The build quality of both airbrush and compressor is impressive, the compressor is a lot quieter than the spray-booth fan and so far I can't fault it. I'll happily put a link up if anyone wishes (not sure of the regs here regarding links to commercial products but I'll check with the mods beforehand).
Just thought I'd better reassure everyone that I'm not dead yet, just learning a new skill before continuing the build. More soon.

That may be a little OT but thanks for posting it - a beautifully designed, executed and finished custom pickup!

Great paint job and interior detail, it was almost a shame to have to weather it! It looked beautiful beforehand - I know showroom condition is not to be aspired to in a Landy but it didn't half look good.

Well, I've spent the last five minutes staring at the dashboard images magnified on a 24" monitor and I'm damned if I can see a problem. I appreciate it'll bother you because you know it's there but I doubt anyone else would ever see it.

That dash is amazing. You're operating on a level I could never even attempt and the depth of detail you're achieving is incredible. It's just a pleasure to watch. I concur fully with Spiny's comments!

That idea looks fine to me. I also find freehand dashboard painting a recurrent nightmare and you've made a really decent job of that. even magnified in the camera image it looks fine.

Agreed with all the above! That's a lovely bit of plastic craft. You can already see how the end result will turn out.

Hi Jeff, from a Brit car modeller.

Oh I'm loving this! Old-school custom car modelling of the sort indulged in way back in my youth in the 1960s. Looking SO good so far!

Oooh lovely. I've never built a '57 Chevy, let alone a gasser. This is going to be fun!

Lookin' good so far!
I'm not sure about the spoiler either - would it look a bit boy-racer-ish d'you think? Commonly these cars were used (certainly in the UK anyway) as urban runabouts or second cars, the only time a spoiler was fitted was alongside oversize wheels, go-faster stripes and exhaust stubs the size of baked-bean tins! 🙂

Welcome! You're among friends here, I'm currently waiting for cataracts to become "bad" enough (!) to put in for an operation. Meantime I'm enjoying doing what I can on the modelling front and reading WIP threads by people who produce the sort of models I can only dream about!
