  1. Your English is really very good, I can assure you! Online translators have their limitations - when I was working I worked closely with a German company making industrial process control computers back in the day and technical documents translated from English to German and (once amended) back to English could yield some spectacular cock-ups. "Hard disk" re-translated became "metal plate", for example!
  2. I will as soon as I can renovate it. 50 year old cement tends to be a bit unreliable and bits are dropping off it (literally) that need sorting out first. I'll post some pics as soon as I can bring it back up to spec though.
  3. As others have remarked, that's a beautiful pair of E-Types you've built. I don't think the chrome is too shiny, in this case it looks just right IMHO. Excellent finish and detailing, especially the cockpit and engine compartment. Like you, I believe the E-Type was the most beautiful car ever crafted. Taking pride of place in my display cabinet is a 1/8th scale kit of the fastback I built over half a century ago - a Monogram kit IIRC. It took me nearly a year but the end result was well worth it. Not only do the doors open but it even had working window regulators that wound the windows down when you turned the handles. It's on my list for renovation and re-display when I can get around to it - probably in a year or two once my cataracts have been sorted out and I can see well enough to do it justice.
  4. Oh I will, I'm not missing this for the world... That's a beautiful snug fit and the alignment is perfect. Excellent work even by your standards.
  5. Amazing detail work, especially on the dash!
  6. Geekiest member? Not even close... Welcome, you're amongst friends here. Good luck with the cancer battle, Mrs N has just successfully fought her own and come out the other side which isn't bad for an almost-octogenarian. Hang in there...
  7. Great design, brilliantly executed. The door looks and hangs just right and the built-in adjustment facility is inspired.
  8. I love the innovative use of the metal ferrules and the pill packaging - clever ideas! Looking extremely good so far!
  9. Great finds, those two. Like you, my interest in modern cars is limited - my soul lies in the period 1955-1970 - but these two would make great builds and watching them take shape to your standards will be a joy.

    Hi all!

Hi Monty, welcome from another relative newcomer. The others are right, both about the depth of knowledge there is here and the willingness of people to share it. Sadly, John's also right about the way time seems to disappear under the weight of things that must be done! Enjoy your modelling, you're in good company.
  11. Isn't it just! Lovely neat work with the frames.
  12. No chance mate, you're already operating WAY above my level! I love the way those doors look when half-open, well worth all the effort you're putting into the hinges.
  13. I hope you don't mind me sitting in on this build, I've been told there's a resin kit on its way to me and I've never done one so this will be valuable experience for me. I'll stay at the back out of the way and promise not to make any noise! You must have an amazingly steady hand to have reworked the window apertures with a Dremel. Looks really good so far...
  14. I couldn't agree more. That shell is looking really beautiful now.
  15. A truly amazing model of a truly awful car. Brilliantly executed, especially given the need for scratching & scrounging to complete the parts set. Great detail and finish - lovely job!
  16. Great to see another of Ed Roth's crazy custom vehicles still around. I like what you've done with it too! Nice touch boarding the shack by the way.
  17. Hi, welcome to the forum. I can assure you that your attempt at my language is hugely better than any attempt I might make at yours! Lovely collection of unusual aircraft models. As an ignorant car modeller I have to ask - what is the fascinating aircraft lying on it's back, looking like a failed pole vault attempt?
  18. Beautiful job on a most unusual kit. Detailing and finish are both exceptional.
  19. Looking carefully at a selection of Google images of the real thing, can I humbly suggest you try the front end sitting just a fraction higher before any further surgery? That on its own might be sufficient.
  20. Great, I reckon it'll look a treat like that. When I were a lad I used to pose most of my models on full lock as I thought they looked at their best that way. The 420 certainly will!
  21. Superbly done! You can almost smell that carpet...
  22. I was going to suggest the same thing. Careful sectioning of the two portions either side of the centre console without disturbing the top padding would enable a straight swap.
  23. Ah. for who-knows-what reason whoever took those did so with a fair degree of lock on. See the following Google search... I think you must have had the misfortune to happen across the only set of images on the 'Net that showed a degree of steering lock on. Still, you could always set the front wheels about ten degrees left or right and everyone will think it's deliberate.
  24. Looking really good so far, especially the dashboard and I love the patina on the seats. I really, REALLY hesitated before mentioning this, but as a former owner of a 420 dare I point out that the steering wheel is upside down? The horn ring occupies the lower half of the wheel when the steering is centred. My apologies if you're already aware of this.
