Ditto, nicely built and finished. Beautiful paint finish, gorgeous colour too.

Fair winds, good sir! Enjoy your sojourn in Canada.

Very nicely built. The engine bay definitely benefited from the wiring additions, surprisingly bare out of the box. Really well finished, great job.

Hi, welcome to the forum from another Kent inhabitant. There's a lot of us about!

Thanks! You can tell I'm "old school", can't you?

A bit more progress over the weekend. I had to mesh the grille as the faults in the grille bars (caused by air bubbles at a guess) were beyond fixing, there was nothing for filler to adhere to so I had to disguise it. A £1.45 nylon tea-strainer generously gave up its mesh for the purpose (an old-school remedy still handy today). The donor kit provided the headlamp lenses which fitted a treat.
I've finally had to accept the limitations of the bodyshell and called a halt to rectifying the many blemishes as the more work is done the more faults, cavities, air bubbles and layer separation are exposed. It'll never pass a concours but the challenge was to turn the world's mankiest shell into a viable vehicle and I think I'll end up doing that, so I'll be satisfied with finishing it. In the words of Will Darnell (from the book "Christine") Yer cain't polish a

Last laps now - just the glass to trim and fit, exhausts to finish and some prettying up to be done. ("Just"?

Thanks for looking.

That really is a lovely dash, it's one of the things that makes the gullwing Merc so special. Beautifully executed and detailed!

Hi, welcome aboard from darn sarf!
Definitely post your builds, the peeps here are interested in other members' builds - including me especially if it's cars - regardless of any comparative skills level. It's not a competition, it's appreciating other peoples' work and enjoying both the build progress and the finished article. Whilst the majority of builds here are above my skills level I find them fascinating and entertaining, plus I've learned a huge amount since I joined which has helped me improve significantly since I've been here.
The coffee's good here too!

A very well captured recreation of a tired and well used workhorse - I wonder if anyone does a 1/25 scale rendition of a Mike Brewer to bring it back to life.
"..a tired and well-used workhorse" - he fits the description anyway!

Very nicely done, amazing considering the timeframe. The sagging truckbed is actually quite a realistic touch, old abused farm trucks often sag at that point through a combination of chassis rot and overloading. You can almost hear the banjos in the background...

I've done very little building in 2022, too many other things to keep busy with. But to spur me on for 2023 I picked this up from my local hobby shop. Been after it for a while
Not sure whether to go with the box art colour which I do love, or metallic lime green. I've always wanted a real one, and about 20 years ago (when it was impractical an unaffordable for me) a used car lot next to where I worked had a lifted lime green one on big tyres just like this one for sale...
Oooh, I reckon it would look a treat in metallic lime green! Just sayin'...

At the risk of repeating myself, that's a lovely piece of work. The alignment is spot-on, I can see how much work it took to get there.

Beautifully built, detailed and finished model. Love the video too!

Agreed with all the above. Fiddly work and an absolute minefield but the result certainly makes it worthwhile. Beautifully done.

Blemishes tackled (as best I can with the quality of the shell), re-primed and resprayed in the single colour. This went better as I'm getting familiar again with the airbrush and paints...
Now I'll leave it alone for a day or so to harden.

Definitely. It's hard to see how you could improve on it significantly and it looks a treat as it is.

Ditto, those embellishments are about as appropriate as an ashtray in an AC Cobra.

You're right, it's spot-on for that scale. I can get away with flocking powder at 1/16 scale but it needs to be finer for 1/24-1/25 scale. It's turned out beautifully, hasn't it?

Me neither! The thought of tackling something like this scares the
out of me but it's fascinating to watch and admire the build progress.

I've got to say that dash looks pretty damn' good to me, even in the magnified photo you have to really search for any imperfections which I'm certainly not going to do. By the time that's installed in the car it's going to look excellent, trust me!

Oddly enough I was wondering if including the complete door handle area in the cut and move would be viable. It would certainly solve the problem of having to remake it.

Having gone to the trouble of making and fitting front & rear screens I found it looked a lot more convincing without them so out they came again. The grille looked better in black, more in keeping with the car's style, thus it was made so. A few decals were added purely for atmosphere, salvaged from the donor (the only ones that didn't break up as soon as they hit the water - it's a VERY old donor!) and a couple of suitably big-bore tailpipes complete the beast.
It's not brilliant but bearing in mind what I started with I'm reasonably happy with it and the main thing is that the challenge has been met.
Now to post it in the RFI section. To those of you who've stayed with it and offered valuable comments, thanks for your interest. It ain't exactly concours (!) but it was fun.
EDIT: RFI thread with larger set of pics here...
