  1. Beautifully finished model of a rare and amazing car. The paint finish is stunning and the chromework not overdone - not an easy thing to carry off in that small a scale.
  2. Once again, thanks a mill' for your appreciation. One final thing I forgot to mention earlier - in case anyone's wondering, the sun strip on the top edge of the windscreen was made from the thin blue cling film you often find protecting clear acrylic sheet or mirror finished sheet of the sort I use for lining the base of the display cases. (It also coves up a slight ooops when fitting the windscreen but I'm not admitting anything, oh no no no no...)
  3. @Toftdale, @Farmer matt, @klubman01, @Spiny, @Vesa Jussila, @keefr22, @JeroenS, @dnl42, @Fnick, thanks for your comments and interest, I really appreciate them. I wasn't sure how you'd take to this particular piece of plastic lunacy and am glad you liked it. I really enjoyed both the laughs and the challenges it brought! My next build will of necessity (and an overloaded stash shelf) be a straight OOB job as I really need to hone my basic skills and finish things better. I'll try and make it interesting though.
  4. Another gorgeous Dino 246, I didn't know there were that many still in the wild. And that T-Bucket.... ooooh that T-bucket... it's so unusual to see one road-legal in this country, let alone a RHD example. As already mentioned ad nauseam elsewhere, I'm a sucker for T-buckets - especially built to that standard.
  5. Wow! That's a fine piece of work, this will be worth following. Lovely job so far.
  6. Coming along well! The camper body's going to swamp the 2CV ever so slightly but it'll look a treat. Nice bit of fabrication going on there.
  7. Trevor's right, the 246SP is a great model of an unusual subject. I love the shape of '60s Ferraris and you don't see a model of the 246SP around hardly at all.
  8. Those of you with sufficient stamina to have seen the WIP thread through will already be familiar with this particular lunatic project and a full explanation can be found there. Briefly, I came across some photos of an appallingly badly customised Citroen 2CV and it occurred to me that I could do better than that. If I combined the quirkiness of the Tin Snail's unique bodystyle with that of a traditional 1920s-based US street-rod I might end up with something fun but workable - a 2CV hot-rod. I sourced an Airfix 2CV kit and a Revell '27 Touring T street rod kit (both incomplete and stupidly cheap from the 'Bay), spent several weeks thinking and planning, then set to work. The body was shortened and lowered to fit onto the Ford chassis and the rest is an amalgam of 2CV and Ford parts plus some scratch-building. The rear bumper and lights are from an E-Type Jaguar and the nosecone support stays are simply made from an opened-out paperclip. Long story short, it worked. Here are the results... I just LOVE the idea of a Jag diff and IRS lurking under a Tin Snail bodyshell, likewise a Ford 289 V8 driving the thing and I built it to be as plausible as possible... All the gory details of the build can be found in the WIP thread. Once again, huge thanks to all that followed the build for their interest, support, comments and suggestions. I hope you find this as amusing as I did designing and building the thing!
  9. Difficult to tell from that angle, the main visual difference was the grille. I'd go for Victor though as the Ventoras tended to be blinged up a bit more than that one. I had a coke-bottle HB Viva for a while - probably the best-looking Vauxhall of that era.
  10. This is fine work so far. I must take issue with you over your perceived lack of scratch-building skills - frankly if I could build a rollcage to your standard I'd be a very happy man! Nice work on the ride-height adjustment too.
  11. Great collection all round, but the one that caught my eye was the immaculate FD Victor 2000 in the first frame. Amazing to find one still uneaten by tinworm! I worked for Vauxhall main dealers for a year or two in the late 60s/early 70s and the body panels were so thin rumour had it they were manufactured from paint with a thin skin of metal sprayed on the inside... 😁
  12. Apologies for absence, Real Life keeps interfering with modelling and other Important Things! However, it's final assembly time and once I got started I didn't want to pause to post progress images until I had the full set, I may have to split this post as it'll be a bit image-intensive but I'll see how it pans out. Here goes... First the street rod's lower body/floorpan assembly was finally mounted on the chassis... Then it was time to glaze the truncated 2CV bodyshell and fit the wipers... Then the floor went on... ...followed by the seats... ...steering column assembly (including transmission selector)... ...and finally the bodyshell. The dash was fitted at some point prior to this but I can't remember exactly when, it's all a blur... The modified radiator was then finally installed... ...and the rear finally received some attention. A raid on the spares box yielded a set of ideal tail lights and a bumper assembly from a Jaguar E-Type which was dimensionally correct and just needed the ends shortening. Round at the sharp end the nosecone and struts were fitted and aligned. Finally the intended shape emerged... All that was need now were the headlights (from the street rod) and door handles. The car is now essentially complete bar a few bits of final fettling and detailing so this will be the final entry in this particular thread. Here's a few pics to tide you over until I can get round to creating an RFI thread... Huge thanks as always for your company, interest and comments during this slightly lunatic build. I've enjoyed it immensely and I hope you have too. However, you'll probably be relieved to hear that I'm sticking to OOB builds for a while (I know, I know, I've said it all before) until the next mental aberration hits! The RFI thread can be found Here... Cheers for now.
  13. You might want to consider an engine upgrade to haul that lot around. And a suspension upgrade! 😁
  14. Just like that... Great workmanship, very neatly done.
  15. Heaven! I count four Dino 246GTs there. I've never seen that many in one place before. Beautiful, beautiful cars.
