  1. Thing is, this could get political rather quickly and along decent lines as well. At what point do you understand that nature happens, and as with nature all things die. And that one must balance out the end result + all the misery an animal will undergo to be "cared for and repaired"?
  2. i wish we could get eduard to do a bulldog in 1:48. THAT would be crazy fun
  3. On another forum not wanting to "accurately model the interior" of say a felix stowe and then cover it up makes you a "bad person". But spending a 100$ to detail the feed system for the internal guns, genuinely dimensioned fuel tanks with correct fuel caps, etc then you are upheld as a paragon of virtue.
  4. well its like my ryan pt-20. the yellow orange. the only form of the correct yellow on the market is a spray lacquer from tamiya.. ida be spending 3 times what the 23ml bottle of acrylica flat yellow cost me. Then id be getting lots of specific solvent for lacquer to clean my air brush. I know burnt umber by ab 502 is the preferred oil paint.. but other companies make burnt umber for less..
  5. model by sections, it seems a good idea but in reality it isnt.. some of the model ship ones only let you order a section after you complete the previously numered one. thus if you complete section 5, and 6/7/8 are on backorder for 8 months.... you twiddle your thumbs amongst other things.
  6. The right way to use them, perhaps i have perused to many pages of a particular modelling forum to think critically. Its like this, I AM using tamiya paint, but i can see that the supply and demand, and the supply chain isnt working that well. Hence the interest in the ability to use "student" or artist grade water based acrylic paint as a preference to having to purchase 40-60 dollar "weathering" kits for each period, each nationality, and each season. Ie why spend ?
  7. There ARE some nice folks here, Some just come from "another forum" to lurk and keep tabs on people, and some that may be nice if they didnt have a keyboard anymore.
  8. Ill admit i got the 502 burnt umber because i know the technique works, chemical reactions, etc. Who wants unknowns when learning? What sources of knowledge is there in using normal over the shelf acrylic paint pencils, acrylic in a tube, and oil paints that you get in the "student grade" section at walmart?
  9. When i plopped it down, i was half asleep and wasnt thinking straight so ill finish the thought. I can get the two-plane dual combo nieuport 17 for 25$ retail. It consists of two weekend model kits that retail for 15-20 each, plus each kit comes with a 15$ PE section and 5$ mask kit. thats 35-45$ seperate purchases... for each model. Now what i forgot to mention is, why is it not snobbery to release a kit to modellers, and then FORCE them to purchase kit upgrades to it, that can easily be INCLUDED in the kit and not foist that cost onto consumers? in the OLD days of modelling, no one thought about a cockpit.. now its either feel shame for only using what the kit provided, or being regarded as an "adult" modeler because you double or quadruple the cost of the kit by buying all the upgrades for it..
  10. well i bought kits, and i plan on building them. on some i wish i KNEW how to make the interiors nice and shiny. However to do that would most likely take months of hunting down books that havent been published in 60 years, if ever, or spending 5 times the kit price for one or two little components. Heres an example, the eduard nieuport kits i have.. 1:72 scale meanies... they have the dual kit gives you 2 for the price of one weekend edition, plus each comes with the mask and the photo etch... so you only spend 24 instead of 70$ if you got two kits, then did the masking and photo etch.. where am i going oh yeah,, they have a hanriot hd 2 oh those elitists.
  11. pictures would be helpful good sir. Everyone here would enjoy photos at the very least of a stash that proves a life can be well spent collecting plastic. And it would help us to see what you have on hand as well. Some of us dont know what actually exists in the modelling world if it hasnt been discussed ad nauseum on modelling forums in the last 5-10 years.im "working" on one with 6 more waiting on me.
  12. well going by the COLORIZED photo, the gun ports are surrounded by BLACK. there is that big red circle with a blue stripe and the green camo pattern provides basis for a color match. It is 90% a black splotch around the muzzle. but based on the yellow edge paint.. it might be black or it could be a coppery gun metal. Going by the yellow edge, its most likely gun metal paint
  13. For giggles, and to keep politics down... Have you ever read through the online pages of the various shaving forum's? never can get a better laugh then watching adults argue over the "proper" way to hold a razor, or how to place your fingers upon thy shaving brush as thou coat your face in lather. Even better to read the novels written in anger between each other over how certain soaps like Williams Mug Shaving Soap or Erasmic can get.
  14. not everything is special you know.. there is a belgium chocolate shortage, as the company in weige is shut down for salmonella and cleaning. It doesnt seem a big thing but they supply chocolate to 24 companies world wide. Including Nestle. SO one cannot use a label as a reference.
  15. ive had my first run in with the little bugger of a spray can. Yeah i did it on a somewhat humid day, 60-70% but i had no choice. Slightly windy but i used the directions on the can rather well i thought. How thick am i supposed to spray it at one time? I know multiple coats.. however i was spraying onto red plastic cups and even some spots where i got it about a sheet of typing paper thick i can see "shadows" and slight red color from the ridges on the cup.
  16. OOOOO i love a good gripe thread. Oh god how i luvs them. Like cocoa, rum, and a frisky ski bunny. When it comes to the photography forums, they are all,,,,, USELESS.... They have all gone down three roads of philosophy 1. Its all about camera gear, its funny when you get your profile deleted because you suggested a 7-900$ apsc or full frame single lens reflex to a person trying to find one.... because you "dared" not to tell the person trying to get a basic SLR kit under 1,000 to go buy an 8,000$ mirrorless camera body and a minimum of 5,000$ in lenses. 2. photo shop is mandatory. On these camera forums just saying you dont use photoshop actually gets you put on moderator watchlists for "heavy censorship". 3. Heavy politics. All based on a very hardline stalin esque theology of wokedom. If you do not agree you will be destroyed.
  17. with atmospheric changes due to humidity, do we really need to worry about the age of the paint we mix? Seriously, the thinnner is what would evaporate, and if the thinner in the paint doesnt dissappear from a closed can of factory fresh tamiya,,,, should i really be worried that much?
  18. That lindberg goshawk kit i have next to me, i was surprised when i opened it. i can barely see any flash on it. its bootiful. sure most of the parts removed from the sprue when i opened it, but that was original owner being stupid. This kit is better than the airfix eindecker and roden junkers d1 i have. The Testors ryan pt-20 is equal to the eduard nuieport 17 dual combo set i have. I had the goshawk fuselage dry fitted to eachother all day long, and they had to be pried apart just now , and could be held up by the sprue stuck to one and not come apart on their own. that is quality. modern airfix not there yet. Starting to get my airfix bulldog together. not perfectly aligned, some sections done as a circle, while the opposide side down as an oval
  19. i had that thought when i got my timber tech brush, its a side feeder and has a nice syphon bottle that holds 22 cubic centimeters, i could easily get an entire 23ml bottle of tamiya paint in it... with some thinner. hand brushing tamiya using the thinner, it seems to dry FAST.. my thinking is that if i need to make enough for one go on the yellow of my pt-20, that bottle SHOULD give me enough paint for the whole thing, plus double as storage.
  20. oh a review of the movie put it forth the entire original n3200 was flown for the movie and used for footage. I honestly didnt see that as being accurate due to the age of the craft and the cost of the craft.
  21. off chance, that photo of the n3200 crash, what happened ot the plane? i saw that it was supposedly the original n3200 frame used in that dunkirk film for 1 fighter used in the film
  22. decided on going with the xf3. On the overall float plane scheme, i think ill go with the wartime camo and use tamiya xf-26 deep green for the body. reasoning is that its more in correlation with olive drab being painted on that bright and shiny as h### chrome silver, without having to get olive drab and painting it over chrome silver.
  23. Sorry, this item is no longer available Thats the one I love.. its best thing i have ever found. sadly the year i found it, everyone in the united states stopped carrying it, then a year later they changed the package size.
  24. As most of you guys are british, ill have a go with this old standby question. Do any of you know of a mythical stash of Erasmic shave stick in the red box located somewhere in the UK?
  25. timbertech airbrushes, home office is the nederlands. great customer service. you can get a nice kit with 3 sizes of needles and nozzles for less then the cost for the airbrush that hooks to a spray can of air. and on cleaning them... paint takes time to dry right?
