  1. Very nice tip !! Thanks DaveT
  2. I have spent quite a bit of time searching, but can't seem to find a formula for using Mr. Color lacuqer to create the 3 tone blue paint scheme of the SU-27 Flanker. The only one I did find was thisbut I think the colors are a bit too dark. Any one out there know of a color mix for the flanker using Gunze's paints ?? Thanks DaveT
  3. I used Mr. Masking Sol to mask some tricky areas. It was put on Mr. Color lacquer paint (white) which was fully cured. When I removed the Mr. Masking Sol, there is green residue inthe corners that I cannot remove. I tried squishing blu-tac in there, I tried a toothpick & some rubbing alcohol, but I can't seem to remove this green residue. Any thoughts? DaveT

    dust magnet

I have been working on the body work of my 1/12 Countach for about a month now, airbrushing Tamiya lacquers . I am getting better at thinning the paint, so that the coats are much smoother, looking for that real gloss shine. But I am having a problem with dust & other particles magically appearing in the paint finish, right before my eyes. My hobby room is in the basement, with a painted concrete floor in a 5 year old house. I have vacuumed my hobby area, I leave my home made spray booth on for about 20 minutes prior to painting. I seem to be in an endless cycle of painting, wet sanding, painting again. Plus, after washing the body after wet sanding, there are some water spots that are nasty, and have to be wet sanded again. I am wondering, is my washing the car body after wet sanding (in dish detergent), causing the body shell to be static, and drawing the dust to the model? How can I de-static the car body after each coat/wet sand? I tried using a tac cloth, but that left residue, and then fish eyes in the paint. I do about 70% aircraft models, and do not seem to have this problem, plus I do a lot of Tamiya 1/12 bike models, and have not really had the dust problem I have right now. Perhaps it is the weather? It hovers between -5 C and +10 C the past few weeks, and the air is drier in the house. I would love to strip the 10 coats of TS paint, but can't find anything to touch the laquers , and this 1/12 Countach is a big model. thanks DaveT
  5. What exactly is this stuff ( Fairy Power Spray )? I live in Canada, and want to get something to strip Tamiya TS sprays, nothing seems to budge it. thanks dave
  6. Try Promodeller: http://www.promodeller.com/ Sign up for the price of a modeling magazine once a month, and there are HOURS of excellent modelling videos you can download. Check it out, there are some free samples. DaveT
  7. I polished some pieces of my car model with "The Treatment" wax, but realize I need to paint the pieces again. How can I completely remove this wax, so that I can safely paint again? Thanks dave
  8. I would like to use some Tamiya TS spray lacquer, as well as some Mr. Color lacquer paint on the same model. Both colors are the same, so I could spray either one first, but I am wondering if one brand should go down first, i.e., is one paint 'hotter' than the other ? Thanks DaveT
