  1. Another very brave man reunited with his comrades in arms. RIP Sir. Regards Pete
  2. Very nicely done! Glazing the Quad can't have been an easy job, but it looks spot on. Regards Pete
  3. Fabulous! Weathering/paint is spot on. Loving the damage to the tops of the stowage boxes. It adds another level. Regards Pete
  4. Oh poot! Another one with the talent! Am glad I retired!πŸ˜› Ignore the above grump my friend, and welcome. This is about the best place to hang out, watch, learn, have a laugh etc. etc. There aren't so many rules, the Moderators are errrm, moderate and the chaps and chapesses are top rate. Enjoy yourself and a hearty welcome. Regards Pete
  5. Ohhh Futtocks! I didn't notice either ☺️. Still, if you are going to display it, I suppose it's an easy fix. Not like my usual mistake of getting one run of tracks the wrong way round. Anyways, despite it's glaring fault LOL, it's an impressive build. Regards Pete
  6. Well done. Nicely finished and displayed. Regards Pete
  7. Super work! Very convincing finish and the figure sets it off perfectly. Regards Pete
  8. Really nicely done! You've captured the "moment" really well. I particularly like the layers of stowage. It looks as my old man described it. They really were packrats, and anything not tied down anywhere was fair game! He knew of one set of Sherman rats who even had a dining table and chairs tied on when moving through Holland! Regards Pete
  9. Am truly heartsick at that sad news. Me and Nanuck of the North believe that they'll be reunited with us, so you'll have the pleasure of his company again one day. Frank says MAOOOW! Pete
  10. No, not bad mouthing it my friend. Originally started with Windows hammer and chisel. Went through Windows Cave Paintings and ended up at Eight. No worries. Was persuaded to go to Windows 10 and honestly, have had zero problems except of my own volition. Use a few other Skynet products like Word, her greatness the Colonial, does many clever things with Spreadsheets, so not complaining. It may have Nothing to do with Windows becoming sentient. It may be I've done something dumb (not without provenance!). It just feels that Windows 11 not being suitable has caused the old steam powered clunker to have apoplexy. But thanks for your input. Every viewpoint has its merit and I agree with ya that many do feel the need to denigrate things just because they're "new". I can eventually get GMail working and I am fairly certain I have some photos on the Cloud (hey, I don't know, but it sounded clever). I can usually find Cole and Marmalade if I wait a bit and Lady Boys of Kazakhstan sometimes makes an appearance.😲 Thanks for all the suggestions Chaps, I reckon I need to kidnap a techie and feed him Pork Pies till he's so fat he can't leave! That or take my own advice and beat the damn thing till a) it starts working or b) I feel better.😁 Have a great day chaps, whatever you are doing🫣. Regards Pete
  11. OMG! That poor lad and by association, yourself, have been through the wringer a bit lately. Franklyn, me and the Colonial will keep us paws crossed for a great outcome. Thoughts and good wishes only going your way! Regards Pete

    Computer woes

I'm posting this in the sure and certain knowledge that EVERY person on this forum knows more about computers than I do. My machine is a "reasonable age". (It's about 4 years old). It plods along nicely doing everything that I could possible want (plus, I suspect, take over the world and build a 1/1 scale model of the Titanic whilst it was doing it). However, a few weeks back, bless it, Microsoft tried to update it with some stuff for Windows 11 (if not Windows 11 itself). I was not present when this was happening, but I returned to find a large message sprawled across the screen informing me that my machine was not suitable for, not capable of, installing said version of Windies. Ever since the poor thing has got slower, and slower, to the point that on some days it takes near on 10 minutes to load up Google. Searches on the internet very kindly point out that you should go and spend several 1000s of Β£'s on a NEW Miscrosfoft System. As if! Is this perchance just a "coincidence" or have Microsoft (read SKYNET) deliberately banjaxed Windows 10. It appears I aren't the only one experiencing this in my extended family. I blamed the Internet provider initially, but they quickly disavowed me of this. Anyone have any ideas please? But remember dear readers, you are dealing with a person bereft of technical abilities, a numpty, a deedah and a ham fisted Luddite, so can you keep answers within the parameters of, err, perhaps, Janet and John? Thanks to anyone brave enough to try and accept my eternal gratitude. Regards Pete
  13. Good for you my friend! Long may the pleasure it gives you last in the memory! Regards Pete
  14. Just done a real quick search through where I used to work. The cheapest set of service filters (air, oil, cabin, fuel) I looked up was Β£155 trade! Add another hundred on there to the customer. Then there is what will undoubtedly be "special" oil and the costs kinda keep going up and up. Nice to look at, nice to drive, but oh boy, I wouldn't want to repair one. Regards Pete P.S. It was a VERY quick search! Undoubtedly everyone will find em cheaper. Was just used for illustration purposes.πŸ˜€
  15. Splendid! I like the look of "field" applied camo. On something so small it works brilliantly. Regards Pete
  16. Really convincing! The vehicle looks hard used without resembling a scrap yard find and your stowage is spot on. It's ALL tied down! Something which often lets down very good models IMO. Good stuff. Regards Pete
  17. It's still hanging on in there. I reckon it's old old stock, it never changes. There are a whole heap of modellers, of all stripes, as was proved when Model Zone were here. The store was always busy, their mini competitions well supported. But they left for reasons unbeknown to their customers. The old Model Shop was the best. He stocked all sorts, he even had a box full of Historex bits you could sort through. He retired, it went downhill quick and then,, gone! Nearly all the guys I know now buy exclusively online. It's a real shame. Not just because these shops went the way of the dinnersaurs (sic), but the communities of modellers who frequented them, and drank tea, nattering about whatever, have gone too! Can't even think of anything close by (within 30/40 mins drive) that is worth a visit. Humbrol went, the rest followed it. Regards Pete
  18. Don't come to Hull. It's a desert as far as model shops go. We now have a small railway stuff shop, a radio control stuff shop who sometimes has the odd plastic kit and Hobbycraft. A mixture of very old Airfix stuff, usually about three Tamiya offerings, also way outa date, and a shelf of Revell kits (plus it's upstairs, so not disabled friendly). We used to have so many good outlets, but, usually down to old age and retirement, they have gone the way of the dodo. The rise of the internet and hard trading conditions is seeing off the rest I fear. Unfortunately, and I include myself here, we didn't know what we had till it was gone. Very sad. Regards Pete
  19. Some talent on show here - Don Airey, Jack Bruce and Cozy Powell. What's not to like? Regards Pete
  20. Another "great" confined to posterity. We're losing em too quickly these days. Regards Pete
  21. Was also going to suggest using a chalk line or have a look on T'internet for a cheap laser line/level. I robbed mine out of a kernickered jigsaw that was bought for a quid! Works a treat. Regards Pete
  22. Very sad. Another brave man Valhalla bound! Regards Pete
