  1. Absolutely fantastic build, it looks like it's came straight out of one of ILM workshops.
  2. Another vote for weathered (yellowed?) white for the roof here. This really is one of the most entertaining builds I've read in a long time. @Anteateryou're a comic genius. One small suggestion have you thought about putting a CB radio into it? My memory of the late 80's/early 90's was that you saw loads of vehicles were fitted with them and it's definitely the sort of modification the owner of this van would have likely carried out.
  3. Looks great, what green did you use for it?
  4. That carpeting makes me itchy just looking at it, it's in severe need of going over with a Rug Doctor or something similar. Excellent job
  5. There's not masses of information about the Fireball xl-5 ship out there but there's some decent information over on the Gerry Anderson wiki and there's a pretty interesting scratch build of the ship Here
  6. After a bit of poking through my old Battletech technical readouts I'm pretty sure I've found out what the third one is it's an Annihilator class assault mech. I know it probably doesn't make much difference in the long run but it was annoying me 🤣
  7. Nahh of course not and if it is a wee bit wonky then I'd explain it away by saying that it's been built on a shoestring by its owner using the old mk1 eyeball and lessons learned from the school of "yeah that looks about right" so the occasional bit of wonk and slightly misaligned components are to be expected.
  8. Looks wonderfully hideous so far, I'd be tempted to use wooden stir sticks to make a suitably ugly 1970's/80's herringbone pattern parquet floor or something similar for the rear living area.
  9. I've got a half completed Thunderbird 2 in my pile of shame, I really need to get back into building it. With a little bit of work you can make it into a really nice model.
  10. Don't apologise about the 'mechs, I used to be a big fan of Battletech back in the day and still have a lot of my stuff somewhere. I recognised the first two right away, there's a Panther followed by a Bushwacker but the third one's got me stumped.
  11. I'd call it a diorama, I've gotta admit I love the Battlemech's on the far left hand side of it.
  12. Looks good, looking at the pictures I originally thought you were building the prototype from the Rebels animated series.
  13. That's looking like it's going to be a wonderfully hideous build. I'm really looking forward to seeing the end result. 👍
  14. Looks amazing so far, I'm really looking forward to seeing this one develop.
  15. Tamiya xf paints are a dream to spray, depending, on what I'm painting I either use homemade acrylic thinners (Recipe I use ) or I just spray 50/50 Tamiya paint and cellulose thinners.
  16. Ford Olympic blue would make sense since Thunderbird 2 was apparently painted in Ford Applejack green because that's what the builders had to hand and in those days car colours were probably a lot easier to come by than model paints.
  17. A quick look at the instructions shows they recommend humbrol 89 middle blue, checking on modelshade.com they list Tamiya x-14 sky blue, Vallejo model air 71.333 Russian af blue and Vallejo model colour 70.841 Andrea blue as being pretty close.
  18. I personally wouldn't be too worried about the exact shade, a quick look on Thunderbirds wiki shooting models page shows that there were a lot of models used during filming (not to mention recycled footage) and the blue appears to vary between scenes as the different builders basically just used what they had to hand. As long as it looks right then I'd say that it is right. That's certainly the attitude I'm taking with my current build of Thunderbird 2 and will be the same when I get round to building my Thunderbird 1 kit.
