  1. Sorry, I don't get it, ALL the French Decals in this box are clearly only "Post War"... ...and as there are really not many publications about this plane available (and I have them all), one even hardly can find photo-evidence of the proposed decals. It seems, they don't have the proper Background-material in their bookshelves to come up with the really important wartime planes (biggest blunder is the usage of the post war plane of 1919 of Erwin/Easterbrook in their USAS-boxing) and not their WWI service plane which made them famous in hte Autumn of 1918 (both a "white 8"). It happens so often now for e.g. with the LVG C.VI, the Breguet 14 and many more. Useable up to very good kits indeed. But I really do not understand their chosing of the decals at all... A disaster for the WWI-enthusiast. Gaspatch for example are doing much better research on their decals... ...but this is not "my scale" at all... Luckily Pedinghaus Decals is never shy for any additional decal-answer to enable one to create real WWI-planes in service, no matter if French or USAS in this case...
  2. These are very detailed decals, and rather thin, but you have to cut out every decal singly, They don't go off seperately. This is what "Internetmodeller" has to say about some of the new Breguet 14-decals (and there you can see some making and printing quality still). Colors are excellent: https://www.internetmodeler.com/scalemodels/nraviation/Peddinghaus-Decals-1-72-Breguet-14-Decals.php Meanwhile Peddinghaus Decals is the biggest manufacturer of WWI decals in 1:72 scale worldwide and only brings unreleased or formerly wrongly released decals again. As the most decals are principly released in the one and only "true scale", a many of those are also released in 1.48 and 1:32 too. Peddinghaus Decals is also not shying away of very difficult striping decals as of the new Fokker D.VII of Hans Kirschstein (still released) and Alfred Lindenberger (also to be released in the next days). Among the types you still can find are Sopwith Triplanes (for example the correct codings of the "Black Flight"), Sopwith Camel, Fokker E.V, Fokker Dr.I, Fokker D.VI, Fokker D.VII, Albatros D.II-D.Va (including the fabulous green and white striped one of Carl Menckhoff!), Breguet 14, Salmson 2A2, LVG C.VI and many more types for plastic models obtainable to build. The range will be constantly widened and - as written before - only still unreleased material will be manufactured, often based on important air aces... Stay tuned...
  3. Gents, while KP did release 4 different boxings ofor the Salmson 2A2, they missed out some very important American planes and pilots as well as did not release any French markings at all. Very surprising for a plane that has been built in more than 3000 units and around 50% of them were flying in French Units during WWI. So "Peddinghaus Decals" (https://www.peddinghaus-decals.de) paid tribute to this failure and will release 5 different sheets with 2 planes each in 1:72 scale. All of these decals are/were unreleased in 1:72 scale and will be available at least by the end of June 2022. Following decals will be released: USA Part 1: a.) 1st Aero: White 8 (Erwin, Easterbrook - American Flag) - This is the real "White 8/Jo.4" that was flown by the 2 aces in the autumn of 1918, not the one on the KP-release and not the one in the Pegasus-release which are both showing a post war-machine) b.) 88th Aero: Yellow 12 (Cowboy). The "2" will have a corrected edged form because the known profile of this plane was painted wrongly. Part 2: a.) 91st Aero: Red 8 (Cook/Badham - "Knight Chasing the Devil") b.) 91st Aero: Red 19 (Strahm- "Knight Chasing the Devil") Very colourful planes of 3 American aces. Straight AND diagonal wing stripes will be included as "modelers choice". Part 3: a.) 104th Aero: Red 3 (Reynolds -"Sphinx") b.) 186th Aero: Red 2 ("Devil with Spyglas") France: Part 4: a.) SAL18 - Serial 945, White 3 ("Man running after his hat") b.) SAL28 - Serial 448, White 10 ("Elephant breaking out of circus tent") a.) is one of the best known French 2A2's with former existing painted profile and b.) is a plane without a former painted profile, always only referred to serial 44x. Another photo of this plane was detected that shows the full serial no. (448) and guarantees a correct replica of the decals, even for the upper wing. The "Elephant"-emblem is done with a green tent, but also with a red one as modelers choice. Part 5: a.) SAL14 - Serial 5347, White 4 ("Pegasus with shield") b.) SAL259 - Serial 504x, White C ("Flying insect with binoculars") a.) only ever was released in 1:32 scale before, but the Unit emblem wans't very correct before. Peddinghaus invested more research-work for better display. b.) again is a well known painted profile. But because there is no Serial "504" in the production line of the "2A2", it must be a serial 504x with the last digit not readable on the photo (black on red). Therefore it was chosen to include extra numbers 0-9 as modelers choice for completition. All sheets will include "PoserOuLeverIci"-, "T.S.F" and oberserver-orientation-markings, if needed. All colors (for example for cocardes or rudders ware taken from descriptions of Alan D Toelle which are partly a far way off what KP does/did release and reflects the more realistic apparance of these planes, escpecially with the colours of the cocardes. All decals are as always also unlimited in production and permantently obtainable. I hope this will suit any WWI-Buff that is interested to build WWI-planes in 1:72 scale that really mattered.
  4. A very "funny" chosing of decal options/boxings: One Japanese (post war), one Polish (post war), one Czech (Post war) and one American (partly post war). The 2A2 was a FRENCH plane. Over 3000 units were built and more then 2000 flown in combar in WWI in 1918 and about 2/3 o them by FRENCH units. No FRENCH boxing though? A marketing/release-disaster... ...a real negative stunner.
  5. As I have the models right now in stash I can say the following: First of all, you have to buy exact the boxing you need to build (B for bomber, A for reconnaissance). The sprues hold only the material for the mentioned plane offered, not both as for many short run kits of other companies. The positive aspects of the re-release: a.) the 2 main sprues are not retooled, but the same as of the original AZ Model-Kit. But now there ist a 3rd plastic sprue with extra parts that formerly were made of etched and resin parts, which IS an improvement. b.) Cockpit-window and windows for the fuselage sides of the bomber verion are now also coming in plastic and not in foil as before. c.) the only "crossover that is featured in all the boxings is this 3rd sprue plus the plastic-sprue for the windows. This allows to fit older bombers with "overtree" windows of the A2-model and one can avoid the foil there. Negative points are: a.) With the old bomber-versions came a rather large stash of resin-bombs (big AND small). With the new kits only 4 bigger bombs in plastic will be included in the new plastic sprue which are too few (and none of the small ones!). But as this 3rd extra-plastic-sprue is included in all the new boxings one can use the leftover-boms of the A-Version for the B-Version. But still no small bombs available/possible... b.) Biggest flaw: the decals. No "Lever ici"- or "lift Here"-signs at all and rather uninteresting decals, again missing out very important pilots/aces and/or units. Morevover; the sprues only allow to build EARLY Michelin- or Breguet-built planes, but KP chose to include some decals of planes of late production planes like for example Renault, that had a total different appearance around the motor section and partly also of the wings too. So a good part o these KP-decals isn't of any use anyway if you want to build a historical correct plane, because we don't have any sprues t build later production Bre 14's. Conclusion: The kit was definitely bettered in additional plastic details and thumbs up for making this important kit available to the market again! But the ordnance issue for the bomber-version might cause probs to some who don't have the other kits from the past also available (and very lucky one still have the A2/B2-releases with both fuselages and all the extras) And... ...decals are not coming with stencils and are partly of the wron later types. But finally; thanks to Peddinghaus Decals we now also have the ability to add important extra-decals to build classy early Bre 14 models of aces like Mezergues, Jannekeyn, Weismann, Vuillemin, Gallois or others and/or planes of very well known units with correct insignias and stencils onm the correct fonts too. For the very first time ever there also are 3 American planes available too that were taking part in the infamous Koblenz-Raid. Hope all of this is helpful and happy modelling!
  6. Hi Gents, good to see these kits re-released, though still a lot of interesting decals are/were still missing out, especially of meaningful Breguet-pilots and observers and/or aces. All decals were only created to fit for early types of Bre 14 of the AZ/KP-releases. Peddinghaus Decals just now released 4 different sample-sheets of the Breguet 14 in 1:72 and 1:48 scale. Here the infos for the 1:72 sheets: 1.) 72 4031 France WWI: Breguet 14 B2 (early) Br.117, Br.131, Br.132 & Br.134 (Bomber) Content: 3 planes - BR.117, Serial 1333/Black 3, Charles Kaciterlin / Albert Cambray, Plessis-Belleville, France, June 1918 (early Michelin-built). First time correctly colored unit insignias (black and not red or blue). - Br.131, Serial 4073/White 1, Albert Mézergues / Henri Miclet, Villeneuve-le-Roi, France, June 1918 (early Michelin-built). Important Bre 14 ace. - Br.132, Serial unknown, Red 1, Jean Jannekeyn / Eugène Weismann, Le Mensil-Amerlot, France, August 1918 (early Michelin-built). 2 Versions buildable of 2 aces. 2.) 72 4036 France WWI : French Breguet 14 B2-Part2 ( early): Escadre 12, Br. 128 & Br. 134 (Bomber) Content: 3 planes - Br.11, Serial 4554, Joseph Vuillemin, Près de Sézanne, France, July 1918 (mid Michelin-built) Only recently discovered legendary plane of Vuillemin as head of Escadre 12! - Br.128, Serial 1314 "Voila", Champien, France, March 1918 (early Michelin-built). Striking unit insignia with the correct red fuselage stripes (not black)! - Br.134, Serial 4340, Antoinne Gallois / Mario Velasquesz Machado, St. Dizier, France, October 1918 (mid Michelin-built). Very catching. Gallois flew over 100 missions! 3.) 72 4045 France WWI: Breguet 14 A2 (early) Br.202, Br.220 & Br.221 (Recon) Content: 3 planes - BR.202, Serial 779 "Gabrielle", France, Winter 1917/18 (very early Breguet-built). Striking early, well known uncamouflaged early plane - Br.220, 841, "Goose with kids" France, Spring 1918 (early Breguet-built, camo). First ever camouflaged Bre 14, striking and well known unit insignias - Br.221, Serial 200x "Pegasus/VIII", France, Spring 1918 (early Breguet-built, camo) Striking individual decals after Alan D Toelle, not the ones in the new kit. 4.) 72 4046 USA WWI: Breguet 14 B2 (early) 96th Aero (Bomber) Content: 4 planes - Serial 4012/Black 12, Harold Brown/Harold MacChesney, Immerath/Germany, 11/07/1918 (early Michelin-built)* - Serial 4005/White 5, Herbert Smith/George Ratterman, Pünderich/Germany, 11/07/1918 (early Michelin-built)* - Serial 4015/Black 15, Robert Browning/James Duke, Cochem/Germany, 11/07/1918 (early Michelin-built)* - (Very possibly) Serial 4350/Red 10, Amanty/France, Juli-September 1918 (early Michelin-built) *these planes were al taking part in the infamous Koblenz-Raid of Major Brown that had to force-land in Germany and depicted after photo-proof. These planes still flew without the new emblem of the unit. Red 10 is a later well known recon-plane (the fore-runner of the Recon-"10") with full insignia and known of a very well known in-flight-pic. Her'es a link to the products: https://www.peddinghaus-decals.de/advanced_search_result.php?categories_id=0&keywords=Breguet&inc_subcat=1 All the sheets come withthe correct "Lever ici"-/"Lift here"-signs of Breguet and/or Michelin as well as replacement-serial-no's in the correct writing font. All of these decals were never ever released before in 1:72 and I am sure that it will give the modeler-community a much wider range to build such a great bird. PD decals also do offer very much more former unreleased WWI Decal-material for example for Fokker Dr.I, Fokker D.VII, Albatros D.II-D.V, Sopwith Camel, Sopwith Dolphin, Sopwith Triplane, Rumpler recons and much more in 1:72 but also bigger scales.
