  1. Excellent kit and build. Did you make any of the parts yourself?
  2. Hello Jumbo, Ive just moved from Spain to East Ayrshire. Bienvenido al forum y te aseguro que te lo vas a pasar fenomenal aquí
  3. Good Morning Smirnoff Glue and a very warm Weclome (Still Game welcome)
  4. Hi Pete, Welcome. im sure you will get much enjoyment in looking and seeing the sprogs and the old seasoned connoisseurs at work
  5. Last night was a frustrating night on trying to achieve the "weathered look" I'm using this product, Lifcolor wash Silly old me wasn't leaving it on long enough for it to dry, and when I went to wipe it off, it never left the effect that I wanted, or should I say, never looked "weathered" I perceived for another two hours until I came up with some sort of frustrated acceptance . I was also reading that its better to spray a coat of varnish on the item befor attempting? I never did as I read the article after I got this result...... And rear side...... One more thing, should I spray with this to seal it after I'm happy? And could I have used this prior to applying the "weather" product?
  6. Hi Wlad, Thanks for the tips. Yeah, I was running the compressor for so long trying to achieve the "Mottle" that it overheated. (would it do that ? or is there a defect on the Fegda compressor?) I think I "blew dry" the airbrush nozzle in doing so also. One was thinking about all the possibilities last night of why it could have happened.
  7. Thanks Troy, Again, a tower of advice and astounding information that you always bring to the table, amazing My airbrush and I will dedicate the time mastering the thinning with Vallejo paints in the very near future. It would be prudent for me to get a little more proficient for my next build, the Tamiya Spitfire Mk Vb. Thanks!! I have been gazing at complete builds on Youtube and I am taking in all I see. (Hard to remember all though, grey squidgee stuff in skull not as good as it was!) I'm still in awe at all the friendliness and tip sharing that can be given on this marvellous forum, outstanding
  8. Hello Arthur, You have some lovely models. I particularly this one.It looks so real Anyway, welcome, and I look forward to seeing your builds P.S. I used to stay in Barrhead and frequented Paisley every week for a wee swally ending up in the Cotton Club attempting to dance my dinner up
  9. I started tonight with masking off and preping the build for the RLM 71 dark green... And started to airbrush markings After leaving for a couple of hours, I took the masking tape off..... I went over a bit on the final spray and feel that I went too high up with the sky blue on the fuselage, compared to the colour ID sheet that HB supplied, never mind, its done now and may look ok once Its all decaled and final matt clear spray (Tamiya) applied. Ah well, live and learn I did put some Vallejo flow improver and little more thinner in my paints tonight. The performance on the airbrush did show, however, I did get a blockage after spraying with very light and fine lines for a prolonged time.
  10. Tonight I started the colour scheme as the Hobby Boss ID sheet depicts.... Its tricky with my cheap airbrush, but ill perceiver at the moment as it's early stages in my learning process. I am constantly cleaning it to stop spatter and blockages. Im using Vallejo acrylic paint and am slightly, only slightly using the Vallejo thinners. Its a Fengda FE 130. It came with a compressor which works well enough Anyway, back to the progress..... I decided to place the gun bay covers back on with a little bit of blu tack holding them in place to get even colour whilst spraying. I changed paint o the light green, cleaning my airbrush thoroughly again. The mottling effect is a hard art to get the hang of. Ill continue with the dark green later I enjoy the airbrushing very much and understand I have a long way to go to achieve the results I want.
  11. Thanks Mattlow, You weren't by any chance in the mob (RN) with a user name like that? I went for the colours in the kit colour sheetwhich, as you said are different from the box pictures

Hi Ian, Lovely colours in those dinosaurs and stunning light effects on the imperial cruiser Welcome onboard
  13. Welcome Gliterden, I moved back from Spain this year. I stayed in Dolores, Alicante. I hope you enjoy your stay here on Britmodlers
  14. Hi Troy, Thats' good to know. I will try that in future...great tip Yes, I do have the Tamiya extra thin and have used it on this build, much better than the standard viscosity glue. I was never interested before. My friends did a couple and I could not see the attraction at that age. I was more interested in building bikes (racers and fun bikes) My patience would have been holding me back as a youth I suppose. But now I am absolutely smitten utterly fascinated by it.
  15. Looks a nice kit that. Wishing you all the best on Saturday. Hope you have steady day with that
  16. So, I finished up doing my best in filling the gaps and buffing down Applied a coat of surface primer to body Then masked off the canopies and used Liquid mask by AMMO for the underside. First time using that stuff and was amazed at it peeling off in one!! Spraying with the same colour as the cockpit then applied another coat of the outer colour RLM 06 vallejo Drilled out the barrels of the guns with the smallest drill bit I had. Calling it a night for now.
  17. Hello Steve66, You certainly can learn lots here. I have in my short time. Welcome onboard
  18. Ah the light fibre Star destroyer. Would love to see.. Oh and a belated welcome Paul
  19. Welcome Andy, I too have just started with a 1:72 airfix kit with the starter pack paint pots Now I have all the paraphernalia like you minus the spray booth.
  20. Well, I was waiting for my paints to arrive for my Spitfire when the Hobby Boss ME 262 A-1a / U1 stuff arrived with them. I was drawn into starting this one first {thanks to Troy's advice on a great website supply company} so I decided to make a start last Thursday night I was well impressed with this little kit and all for the price of £11.38!! from Creative Models UK Started the cockpit, and parts fitted nicely Gave it a lick of primer and then did some detail to it I was going to leave the panel off the opposite side of this one so that this detailing can be peeked in at? Continued on with pleasure on this nice little kit (my second build ever) and started gun bay with fuselage. I chose the metal weight gun bay option This is where I should have maybe filed a portion of the metal gun bay area down. I did dry check it and both sides did meet but just a little tight. Disassembled again, applied glue and it just wouldn't meet as good as it did in the dry run. A little happy face shines on I ended up taking the front wheel off so I could get into a good bit of filling and sanding on the wheel bay area as well as nose cone Final sanding of nose I am still enjoying the build and am learning lots as I go along. I have buffed some detail off on the panels, mostly the rivet marks and panel joins but hopefully Ill get them put in again with a tool that you are all aware of. Like a pastry cutter with spikes . Or a detail rivet maker thing. I will continue with build mid week, learning as I go along and post here. As always, open to constructive criticism and advice if you are inclined to, thanks.
  21. Thanks all with your advice. I ended up going with the Hobby Boss 1:48 ME 262 A-1a / U1. Started thread in "work in progress" Link
  22. Recently, I spied this on ebay for and decided to buy it for my build that I will be starting very soon. describing it as... AIRES (4458) 1/48 - Spitfire MK. V Resin Cockpit Set For Tamiya MK.V Spitfire kit. Still sealed. UK bidders only. Please see my other listings. Now, it's description was as a... I have looked for a video on youtube to see the tutorial conversion of said cockpit to my Spitfire Mk V Tamiya, but to no avail. Have I purchased just a cockpit build or a cockpit that I can actually convert into the build mentioned above? Does the side panels fit over the existing instrumentation or do i have to remove the whole panel and replace with the Airies kit? It was fairly cheap at 4.99...
