  1. The old 1/72Frog is a great little model, I have currently got one, along with an Airfix Vampire to create a Venom FB4. The premiere releace looks good, a few extra goodies in the box.

I have been trying to find a 1/72 Premiere Tucano but no luck :(

  2. I really did not like Squadron putty (green stuff) until I read somewhere that it can be mixed with a little nail polish remover (I use a cheap tesco remover)

a small dad of this really creates a smooth paste which can be worked into a gap or spread over an uneven surface, no more crumbling mess!

  3. Found this trick from a model shipbuilders webpage (many here may already do this?)

    http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewt...f=4&t=37536

Not sure about the 'swapping hands part' although I guess it's upto the modeller how they want to go about using the tools (ie. Lighter/Sprue)

I kept the lighter in my left hand (I am right handed) and then when blowing out the alight sprue used the side of the lighter to secure one end of the sprue to the card.

  4. I guess looking at pictures of the Vickers FB19 that you could possibly start with a 1/48 Sopwith Camel as a base and scratchbuild the rest?

Get yourself a good 3-way plan view of the FB19 and scale it to 1/48 on a photocopier (get a number of copies made and then you can cut up and use sections!)

    A supply of plasticard, rod/strip

A tube of Squadron green stuff

A pack of fine (white) miliput

And of course a bit of creativity mixed in! That should be a great looking model once made.

  5. ah, well done!

Am well on the way to finishing a Tiffie, but this one is a Ia. with shed loads of machine guns in each wing and a vacuform cardoor conversion (basically a clear cover with the car door moulded in) which I am dreading glueing onto the fuselage...

  6. Hiya Trev,

Glad you like the Spit! Personally I prefer the Hasegawa kit (but only just.....however I have not seen the production Airfix kit with the modified fuselage halves and prop yet!!), but it is twice as expensive and I`d rather hack the Airfix kit to produce a low back XVI.....Why don`t you use the Heller Spit XVI instead as its a nice little kit too and the works already done for you...plus its dirt cheap??

    Cheers

    Tony O

I have the low back section hacked from the heller XVI to use, it looks the correct shape for a graft. The Heller Spitfire may be good but it has raised panel lines.

  7. The radiator under the wing look a little shallow as do the undercarrage recesses the latter can be shaded carfully to trick the eye.

Also, the wings I think look a bit thin in chord making the span look out? could just be me.

  8. Frog also did one and bagged Novo ones still turn up. Not as nice or crisp as the Monogram one, which despite being a 60s kit, still builds into a cracking little model.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I managed to get hold of a monogram Bearcat today and yes it looks a great model! thanks for the advise! it was worth it.

  9. If you can get hold of the 1/72 Dragon kit,you get the hasegawa wildcat plus an extra set of folded wings,o and plus an aircraft carrier deck as well.....Neil

That sounds good but I bet they are rare? I am using the MPM FM-2 Wildcat
