  1. The old 1/72Frog is a great little model, I have currently got one, along with an Airfix Vampire to create a Venom FB4. The premiere releace looks good, a few extra goodies in the box. I have been trying to find a 1/72 Premiere Tucano but no luck
  2. It works! ok better try TAB Clear next, it's the same as Coke but it's clear... so you can watch the process I guess?
  3. Your making light work out of this! it looks fab! Really likin the wood effect and internal detail
  4. I really did not like Squadron putty (green stuff) until I read somewhere that it can be mixed with a little nail polish remover (I use a cheap tesco remover) a small dad of this really creates a smooth paste which can be worked into a gap or spread over an uneven surface, no more crumbling mess!
  5. Would there be anyone with a copy of Scale Aircraft Modelling VOL. 9 ISSUE 5 from February 1987? I am looking for the artical about Vacuform modelling and the Rareplanes' Supermarine Swift. cheers!
  6. Found this trick from a model shipbuilders webpage (many here may already do this?) http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewt...f=4&t=37536 Not sure about the 'swapping hands part' although I guess it's upto the modeller how they want to go about using the tools (ie. Lighter/Sprue) I kept the lighter in my left hand (I am right handed) and then when blowing out the alight sprue used the side of the lighter to secure one end of the sprue to the card.
  7. I guess looking at pictures of the Vickers FB19 that you could possibly start with a 1/48 Sopwith Camel as a base and scratchbuild the rest? Get yourself a good 3-way plan view of the FB19 and scale it to 1/48 on a photocopier (get a number of copies made and then you can cut up and use sections!) A supply of plasticard, rod/strip A tube of Squadron green stuff A pack of fine (white) miliput And of course a bit of creativity mixed in! That should be a great looking model once made.
  8. WOW, Wonderfull Gauntlet. Just what did you do to achieve the 'metal' effect cowl and front end?
  9. ah, well done! Am well on the way to finishing a Tiffie, but this one is a Ia. with shed loads of machine guns in each wing and a vacuform cardoor conversion (basically a clear cover with the car door moulded in) which I am dreading glueing onto the fuselage...
  10. Have you a photo? maybe it had been upgraded with a newer radio? therefore keeping the 'cardoor' what kit are you using if you build it?
  11. I have the low back section hacked from the heller XVI to use, it looks the correct shape for a graft. The Heller Spitfire may be good but it has raised panel lines.
  12. Nice build and expertly finnished for 1/72! great stuff Tonyot. How does the Airfix MkIX match upto the Hasegawa version? I have the Hase version which I intend to cut upto make a lowback MkXVI, or should this be left and for me to cut up an airfix instead?
  13. Just got me a Pyro Fury and I hope it will turn out as good as this!!! great build Doug, any tips on drilling out the exhausts? they are oval and not (drill piece round...) also did you sand the fabric effect down?
  14. Very stylish scheme! I like the way you have used the white flash markings under the wings and just under the tail fin
  15. The radiator under the wing look a little shallow as do the undercarrage recesses the latter can be shaded carfully to trick the eye. Also, the wings I think look a bit thin in chord making the span look out? could just be me.

  17. Fantastic scale finnish! How did you create the exhaust staining?
  18. Thanks for the feedback guys, I managed to get hold of a monogram Bearcat today and yes it looks a great model! thanks for the advise! it was worth it.
  19. Does anyone make a 1:72 Grumman F8F Bearcat?
  20. That sounds good but I bet they are rare? I am using the MPM FM-2 Wildcat
  21. I am wanting to fold the wings on a 1/72 Wildcat, is this easy to do? are there any detail sets available or has anyone done it by scratch building the parts? any experiences would be great cheers
  22. Thanks. I will look forward to seeing the copy. search over cheers guys!
