  1. I have sprayed my BF110 all black ( enamel from a rattle can) and am now ready to create a weathered and more realistic finnish. I have got some watercolours that can be mixed to various shades and used to flood panel lines etc but can anyone recommend any other methods? without using an airbrush. cheers
  2. I used standard (loctite) superglue and its still well stuck on!
  3. I have a Prop and spinner from the Tamiya Spitfire VB, its the pointy version but could be cut down and shaped if you want it?
  4. Managed to pick up a 1/72 Academy P40B Tomahawk not long ago with the aim to make an RAF MkII. I am really pleased with the kit, it's no Tamigawa but it does have engraved panel lines and is very cleanly moulded so an ideal startig point to add details (already got a airwaves etch set for the cockpit) Wondering, as always, who here has built this Tomahawk.
  5. Thanks ed, thats very interesting. And the links are a bonus. thankyou.
  6. Would anyone know of any photos of BF-110-D3/U1 with the Spanner-Anlage Inra-red sensor? was it fitten to a number of Bf-110 fighters or just the one? BF-110-D3/U1 G9+CM (the only one I have found so far..) I have found that the sighting aid was fitted to find RAF night bombers (Wellingtons etc.) early in the war. Used to seek out 'enemy' (er...our) engine exhaust heat, the Brits soon figured out they were to fit shrouds to the aircraft masking any heat patterns so ended the use of Spanner' (arn't we clever..)
  7. I'll second that it really does look the part.
  8. Oh thanks! After a bit of a look around I am actually now on the lookout for an Italeri Bf110 Nightfighter as the 'swiggles look like a challenge..)
  9. Is there much work to do to convert the new 1/72 Messerschmitt 110 into a Night fighter? before Airfix bring out a new varient What varients could be made with a little alteration?? (full of questions today!)
  10. I would be very interested to see the artical actually Wooksta, looks like the old Frog is a go'er just have to find one. thanks all.
  11. Me also, I have read a few articals online and just want to see BM's perspectives on the models before I decided what to build.
  12. Considering getting an old Dehavilland Hornet, can anyone offer any advice Is it any good. I see there is one by Special Hobby in 1/72 also what are the improvements? cheers
  13. Wonderful build and a great historical finish. MH438 did fly with 313 RAF Czech Sqn before it was handed over to the Czech Airforce on 30.8.1945. Many were then sold to the Israeli Airforce (this one was not) Nice to see somthing different.
  14. Just been downloading GIMP a computer software for picture/photo editing. I have a picture opened on it with a large number of layers showing (each one show 'open' with a little eye image. Is there a short way of un-selecting all of these layers or do I have to painstakingly click each 'eye' image to blank? Hope this makes sense...and i hope someone can help? cheers
  15. I am interested in using the (new) Airfix 1/72 Spitfire Mk.IXc as a basis for making EN405. All I have found out is that it was used for photographic mapping work and photographed at Hassani Airport (Greece?) in 1946. I think it was either bare aluminuim or painted silver in a post-war scheme. can anyone shed some light on this spitfire by proving sources of photos of the aircraft or others that flew for No.1435 Flight RAF cheers
  16. Just seen an advert for a F-82 Twin Mustang from Special Hobby, anyone know anything about this?
  17. Found this photo online: Can anyone shed some light on this scheme? squadron? etc.. are there anymore known photos of Kingcobras in similar USAF guises? Looking to build a Toko P-63 i have found in my stash. This scheme looks a little different and I think really suits this aircraft.
  18. I have found many pics of Spitfire F.21 in camo and of course the King Cup Air Race scheme (silver/red) Did any where a overall silver postwar scheme? i have found MkF.24 in silver but I have a 1/72 F.21 to re-paint. cheers
  19. Sure I have some 303sqn codes in 1:48 for a Spitfire. I will have a check for you. The code for them was RF- The Airfix MkVb comes with 303Sqn codes in 1/72, I probably have some of these also if these help
  20. I have purchased and recieved the Academy one now so and contemplation of the Revell version will have to wait...until I screw up this version or get annoyed with the fit issues... and I have never seen the latest Revell version for sale? Got the Aries resin cockpit set for the Academy F-15E today and its an awsome addition, the detail in 1/72 is really fine.
  21. The 1/72 Academy F-15E looks to be a good start
  22. Thanks Ian, Your F-15 looks very good. I am sure I can scratch build some of the missing parts (A sniper pod is a must i feel). Now about the poor fit up front... this is my first jet build so to me having seams on the side of a fuselage is a little daunting. So... a question to all you jet builders " Just how do you get rid of lateral seams to create a nice smooth surface?" I have a sanding stick and am not afraid to use it
