  1. I understand many have asked (reading though posts here) but I just cannot find an answer that suits. Having desided that I need to move on from brush painting (after a very feeble looking 1/72 RAF Hurricane job) and get an airbrush. I have used a £10 revell airbrush to very poor effect, mainly because it was rubbish and cheap!) Looking to spend about £60-£100 for an airbrush and compressor set, are there any recomendations for this price bracket? thankyou
  2. Graham, this artical sounds facinating I would be very interested in seeing it thanks. I have noticed that the very early Mk.IX had 'bulges' on the nose, I have never seen any photos of this type before It would be interesting to find some. As for 'early Mk.IX's post 'nose bulges' thanks very much all for the squadron numbers, I can look into each of these a little more to pick an aircraft. regards.
  3. Would anyone be able to help me figure out what RAF squadrons had early production Mk. IX Spitfires (either converted from VC's or build specifically as MkIX) Looking to make a conversion using the 1/72 Hasegawa kit MKIX and include large (VC style) cannon blisters. thankyou.
  4. Any good as a first airbrush/ compressor kit? I saw it in my local modelzone shop the other day. http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http...=1t:429,r:0,s:0
  5. PM me your address I have a pair of 1/72 J decals the correct size etc from the Tamiya Mk1 in 1/72 http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http...=1t:429,r:1,s:0
  6. Can any Hurri 'experts?' help in what RAF Squadrons operated the MkIIA? cheers I have 71 Sqn RAF (eagle) any more...
  7. what about the current revell 1/72 one? any good?
  8. Thanks Col. I see your point. Did not think of that. Signed upto p51sig last night so will take a look. cheers
  9. Hi all, Still plodding on with my 1/72 Mustang I (aka academy P51A) there will be pics...its just one of those builds where other things seem to take president.. A Few Questions to keep the build flowing if I may? ?? Where are the empty cartridge cutes for the nose guns found on the airframe? ?? Would anyone have any scale plans or clear photos to show the engine bearers? I am using an Aries 1/72 V12 Allison to be exposed on the model (prehaps keeping a few panels on to highlight the differences between this marque and later varients (ie. the scoop on top of the nose?) thanks. PT
  10. Oh good a Mess er..schmitt build. Nice build! just my cup of tea a bit of TLC and filler.
  11. Ok, thanks Graham, I supose at least the items are already in the box!
  12. Am I correct in thinking that to convert a Revell Hurricane MkIIb into an early (late phase Battle of Britain) MkIIa all I need to do is delete the outer wing guns? So keeping the 'metal' wings? How about the radiator scoop (could I use a MkI scoop from the Airfix Mk1 -being a very early MkIIa or a Mk1 MODDED?) The spinner, does it have to be a IIb type that is given in the kit or could it be an earlier version? (mainly because I do not like the late Hurricane style spinners...) Cheers for any info, I have some quality books on the Hurricane but they all focus on Hurricanes of this type being sent to India etc... and not RAF home defence squadons during 1940/41. PT
  13. Hmm, I don't think it was coffee more like RedBull. Great models I particually like the Triplane.
  14. I am working on a Revell 1/35 Su-100 and want to finnish it as a captured German machine. The model comes with a decal option for a German machine but I am interested to find other machines that had been used by Panzer Divisions. Anyone know of any?
  15. Would this work to buff Humbrol Polished Aluminium enamel?
  16. Super looking P-51 Honza! As for the wing rivets, the detail is fantastic, prehaps a wash of light grey over the rivets would look neat?
  17. I am about to start a 1/35 bombed out WW2 German Tank, Having been attacked and straffed by our good ol' RAF Typhoons. After an attack with Rockets and 20mm Cannon how would an armoured Panther Tank end up? Ok, it sounds a but of a stupid question (answer: A Mangled Mess) but what areas of the vehicle would take the most impact, and how would particular areas (prehaps with the most armour) hold out against such a beating? Does anyone know of any other bombed out tanks (any scale) that have been made? links would be great also any tips prehaps? Thanks!!!!
  18. I recall not too long ago picking up a book about the Spitfire. Possibly called Spitfire Log?? I am sure it had a dark blue cover on it and inside had a chapter covering the development of K9374, the Supermarine Type 224 and some plan view line drawings of some of RJ Mitchells pre-concieved ideas for the Spitfire or Shrew as he wanted it called. Can anyone shed some light on this publication? I hope its not just in my head !! thanks
  19. I am searching for some 3-way plan views of the Hawker PV-3 and Hawker High Speed Fury that were developed from the original Hawker Fury biplane design. Would anyone know if they are published anywhere?
  20. A great method! thanks, I have some 'old style' klear so thats great! I will have a good with water colours. Is there a way of creating a Matt 'varnish' by mising Klear with somthing else?
