  2. Thanks Wez, I have the idea of converting an Italeri Thunderflash.
  3. does anyone know of any 1/72 plans for the XF-84H Thunderscreech?
  4. I have some very bent plastic strut material that is supplied with a 1/48 Blue Max kit. How do I go about straightening it? It also is quite flexible which might be a problem as the stuff will be wing struts!
  5. I this idea thanks, will give it a go!
  6. using a thinned filler is somthing different. I am aware of mr sufacer also but it is very hard to get hold of and I am inclined to think that it is a bit of a waste of money when other substances could be used at a much lower price? (but then I have never used the stuff and i could be very wrong...) The plastic does have some noticable sink and mould marks which I want to fill now anyway this is the reason for not keeping the 'fabric effect' and using my final paint finnish to replicate fabric and metal areas. Just also to note that the engine is very good! just needs a few extra small additions! very impressed.
  7. I have an INPACT 1/48 Bristol Bulldog which I have primered in a flat medium grey primer as I makes it easier (I hope) to work with than a base silver plastic. I am left with a 'fabric effect' across wings and fuselage sections which I am wanting to rub down to create a smoother surface but wanting to do this without destroying the wing rib detail (although this does need to be brought down a little in this scale) and the details in the fuselage aft of the cockpit. Hints on how to do this effectivly would be great! I do not want to end up with rib details that look like they have been 'flattened' by cruddy workmanship.. thanks.
  8. good links thankyou. time to brush up on my Russian!
  9. I have an Emhar 1/72 MIG-3 which after a bit of reading around is not the most acurate kit but looks like a good base model. Its very cleanly moulded and needs a bit of DIY to make it look great. wondering if I should try and create a MIG-1 from it prehaps as it is a bit different. Anyone built this? I have found some very good references to MIG development online (A chap called Pascal Divay has made a good replica that adds to my confidence in getting a good result from the kit.) http://www.mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/mig3/mig3.html#history http://mig3.sovietwarplanes.com/modelphoto.../mig3pascal.htm
  10. Hi Looking for 1/48 plans of the interior structure of a Bristol Bulldog?
  11. I am wanting to replace the gun cooling louvers that cover the guns on a 1/48 Bristol Bulldog (INPACT) any hints on making 3D louvers that small?
  12. Thanks for the research info guys. it really is damn hard to find good solid data on the type!
  13. Looking across the www I can find plenty of references to Baders D-B marked Mk.Va but not really any material on other Spitfires of this type (plenty of Mk.Vb info) I am hoping to find some pics of US marked Spitfires (eagle squadrons) in grey/green camo. Anyone here know if the Spitfire Mk.Va was allocated to US squadrons?
  14. That first photo is really good and does look like the real aircraft
  15. Indeed, i will be doing a bit of chopping and shaping.
  16. I have a 1/72 merlin engine from the 'new' revell lancaster spare and am considering fitting it (after a bit of TLC and a bit of butchering) to an Academy P-51 has anyone here done this at to any models in this scale. ie spitfires/ mustangs and the like. the details will all be scratch built so I will have to follow some photos to create engine bearers and pipework. model photo inspiration would be cool guys pls?
  17. I have: A small fragment of P-51 which crashed in the woods where a mate used to live .303 bullet 50 Cal. bullet Oh how I would love to get hold of an A-10 Shell

  19. I have read on many occations where very fine steel wool or wire wool has been used for rubbing down a primer or finishing off a final painted model. who here does this and what grade of wire woold should i buy so i do not scratch my models to buggery! cheers.
