  1. Very very nice, great job. Have yet to get my hands on the new Airfix Lanc and the excellent ground vehicles set. The weathering on the Lanc is superb Paul
  2. The big Aston is my vote, but not sure if that is an option anymore If not, the next one would be the Datsun Paul
  3. 1) Pitts Special S2B, all the usual aerobatics at White Waltham. Tiny aircraft and the pedals to person in the rear seat were right by your side. Just long enough to squeeze in two people with one meaty engine up front. Was a lot of fun in the air, didn't handle very well on the ground and you could see hardly anything. I absolutely loved that plane, iconic aircraft. It was a training flight, the instructor was competing in the national aerobatic championship and spent a bit of time in future years in the red bull air races. 2) My first passenger jet experience was special, we landed in hong kong at kai-tak right in the middle of one massive storm. Was an awesome sight descending in the eye of the storm, then right over the buildings into kai-tak. The next leg was on to Sydney, was on a 747 as one of only three passengers. I bitterly regret not flying on Concorde, got to actually booking the flight with travel agent, but he let me down sorting the flights out. My mother was losing her battle with cancer, and I had other things on my plate to sort out. By the time I started to get on my feet again, Concorde was no more. Paul
  4. Awesome work, every single one is stunning. The finish and weathering is perfect, please keep them coming Paul
  5. It's a great shame Airfix were not up to their current standard when they designed this kit, have 2 of these kits in the stash. Best Regards, Paul
  6. I find it hard to believe you got that result after spending only 3 days, great job Would love to know how you achieved the slightly weathered black finish, looks spot on.
  7. Depends what you measure the success on, the Shuttle has it successes, but it's main aim was as a low-cost manned delivery platform, and in that respect it has failed. I feel that Nasa itself is the failure rather than the space shuttle. the organisation has just become so vast and cumbersome, and has lost it's ability to progress new frontiers like the mercury, gemini, apollo programs. The political landscape changed at the same time, and gave no direction for the shuttle program. There is the ISS which is a great achievement, but came too late, took far too long to build, and has not really covered much beyond what MIR had already achieved. It's ironic that the Soyuz rocket which was old technology when the shuttle was started, is today the primary transport for shuttling crew and cargo to the ISS. Paul
  8. Very very impressive, I love the finish you have achieved, and a great looking scheme too Paul
  9. Very very impressive, I love the finish you have achieved, and a great looking scheme too Paul
  10. About 5 minutes spotted an Osprey flying over, first time I have seen one of these. Amazing sight, with the two rotors tilted forward Paul
  11. Thanks for the clarification guys, I have not had any experience with white metal parts. Puts my mind at ease, this kit is firmly on my wish list now. Just need to save up my readys. Paul.
  12. Very tempted with this kit, but the white metal parts in the review photo above, looks a little deformed to me from the casting. Particularly the machine guns (if they are machine guns). Is that anything to worry about ? Paul
  13. Has been on my wish list for a long time, I had briefly acquired the massive launch tower and shuttle combo kit some years ago. I never intended to sell it, but someone made me an offer for the kit I couldn't refuse. I have been waiting ever since for the tower to be re-issued. TBH when I looked over the launch tower kit when I first got it, I was a little disappointed. The detail is very basic and the kit is inaccurate. Prompted me to look at scratch-building a tower, but that never got past the planning stage and finding photos. I remember seeing an awesome scratch built tower somewhere on the web. Hope the price on this kit is sensible, the price of the bucket wheel excavator is too high for my liking, and I feel the launch tower may follow suit in the guise of their "limited edition" range. Before 9/11 I had a vip tour of the real thing they took the tour bus in front of the flame trench, was an impressive structure. The apollo launch towers on the same sites must have been awesome to see. Paul
  14. I think a plastic model of Mallard would be great, but the large scale in plastic doesn't feel comfortable with me. Just so used to seeing those incredibly engineered live steam models in the larger scale. Having said that, if one was released, I would buy it. I visited the railway museum for second time in the summer, last time I was 12. Not sure if they are doing the same this time round with "The Great Gathering", but the day I went they were doing footplate tours on all six A4's. I managed to fit four tours in, and will be one of the highlights of 2013 for me. I had a chance to drive and fire Bittern in 2008, which I sorely regret turning down. Paul
  15. very impressive build, thought it was 1/35 scale from the photos; everything is just spot on.
  16. Just discovered this kit when it was on offer at creative models, sadly the offer was just finishing so I am hoping it will appear again. I have one of the older releases, but the extra resin bits in this look nice and I can re-use the resin tool. I think it will be a challenge to build, I remember reading somewhere one assembled with solder rather than superglue. Paul
  17. Too many rivets, and they are way out of scale
  18. Wow, really impressive truck build. I didn't like the look of the Lonestar, but this one looks the business. Great build.
  19. Very nice build, I think the model is discontinued now. I have three in the stash as I am a fan of the US and Australian trucks. Also have four of the road train trailers which have not been available for years, cost me an arm and a leg. I wish revell would have kept the trailers in production along with the truck.
  20. I loved the Top Gear piece they did not so long ago making a submergable Lotus Elite Paul
  21. Some time around 1999 I remember an auction of items directly from Lotus Cars and the two main items were two Lotus Esprits' used in the Bond films, one was the famous white Esprit as a normal car, and another metallic red one, both had the titles to the registration number shown in the films. I was seriously tempted to bid, but expected them to go for a lot of money. Found out afterwards that both cars sold for somewhere near £50k for the PAIR. A museum bought the cars called "The Car is the Star" and he was surprised at how little they went for, and was prepared to go much higher. These cars were in fair drivable condition. I hate to think how much those cars would be worth Today, but I was pleased to find they went to that particular museum. I don't know what they would have been prepared to pay for them, probably more than I would have gone too at the time.
  22. Yes, it is, some more good news Today: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-23874524 It's unmaned, but hardware is designed for future manned missions.
