  1. My 1/48 Hobbyboss EMB 312 Tucano has just arrived, bought because they advertised it as having an RAF option, only to find you can't build a Tucano T1 out of the box as they only include a 3 bladed prop spinner and not the 4 blade the T1 has, yet include 4 prop blades??!! There may be other details that are incorrect that I haven't spotted yet. Looks like a perfect oppertunity for the aftermarket brigade to produce a Tucano T1 update set - please.
  2. It would be quite acceptable to have your Firestreaks in overall green. These were often carried as ballast rounds as they generated a small amount of lift. Lightnings selected for display flying almost always had them fitted. If you google XS904 at Bruntingthorpe you will see it has them fitted.
  3. They are not my area of interest, but I can certainly appreciate a well built model or two. Excellent work.
  4. Mine arrived from Jadlam today and the decals are in perfect register. (z suffix).
  5. Pitot cover is made from tissue paper soaked in PVA glue and masking tape for the red tags. I've got an original one in my garage that I was able to get measurements from.😀
  6. I used Mr Hobby, Tamiya and Alclad paints, Promodeller panel wash, dirt streaks were my own mix.
  7. Finished this a little while ago but forgot to post the photos. Airfix 1/48 Lightning F6 finished as XS928 'AD' 5Sqn March 87. Extra's used include a True Details cockpit, Eduard etch set and a few scratch built bits. Decals from various sources including a few home made ones. I had been wanting to build 928 as it was the last Lightning I had the pleasure of working on before I was posted out of Binbrook in March 87 as the station started to wind down. Me in the cockpit of 928 just before towing it out to the line.
  8. Low viz (pink/blue) fin flashes are also wrong.
  9. Not really my area of interest, but I can appreciate a superbly built and finished model. Well done.
  10. The Mark 1 guide has got decals for Falklands and Italian F3's. https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/MKD72011
  11. When I was at Binbrook (83-87) F3's/T5's without belly tanks were used for low level air to air combat training. They used Covenham Resevoir near Louth as their war zone and would be airborne for about 10 minutes!
  12. Eduard do one, but it was not great in my opinion.I found the old 1/72 PP Aeroparts ones easier to build than Eduards 1/48 offering. The home made ones above look better. https://www.hannants.co.uk/product/ED48632
  13. Lovely finish. But as has already been pointed out to be truly accurate RAF Hawks never carried external tanks. CBLS, Matra/SNEB rocket pods or Sidewinders later in life, were all that was carried on the two wing pylons.
  14. Nicely finished Hornet. The article underneath the photo of the real thing in your link is quite entertaining!
  15. You can buy LED lighting kits from Maplins and modify them to suit your requirements.
  16. My dad met George Beurling during the war when he came to a local convent for convalescence. When George's book 'Malta Spitfire' came out there was a mention in one of the paragraphs of two young lads he chatted to in the local wood, those being my dad and my uncle. Sorry to drift off from your great build.
  17. Lovely builds. Just the one question, is the fin flash on the port inner fin meant to be reversed?
  18. Nice that. Got soaked many a time by that jet when it was used to simulate (with water) a chemical attack during the big air defence exercises back in the 80's.
  19. A Puma last night while we were at Metafit. He must have been around 100ft as he was just below us.
  20. Another Mclaren F1 GTR is on its way. Aoshima kit this time, EMI long tail from Le Mans 98.
  21. And quite good at removing fingers as we found out in ASF one day.
  22. Fujimi 1/24 Mclaren F1 GTR Short Tail and Harrods decals to go with it.
