It says in the article that Philippine Mars was retired in 2012 and is not considered airworthy.
-
That possibly explains why they stopped selling new Airfix kits?

Our hobby can be very expensive at times, but the price of model railway items is eye watering. This must have a big effect on the turnover for retailers. Hattons fall out with Bachman cant have helped either.

Me too.😁

Pre-ordered mine from Jadlam for the grand total of £50.95 posted, using the loyalty points I'd accumulated.

Now in stock at Jadlam. -
I asked one of the Airfix reps at Telford when it would arrive and was told the second week of December.

Managed to go both days this year, full day Saturday and 3hrs Sunday while my wife went shopping. Very busy Saturday, with my usual gripe about uncontrolled ruck sacks and people who don't know what soap is. Only spent £10 on plastic, which was on a slightly started Bandai AT-AT and a bargain given it's retail price of £70 ish. All my other purchases were mostly consumables. There was some stunning models on show and a couple of highlights for me were the Vaillant Porsche 934 that won gold and the motorised Dambusters Lanc on the IPMS Belgium table, which was fascinating to watch and hear it go through it's engine start up and shut down.

First time for Hattons, Jadlam and emodels, I think?

1/48 FG1/FGR2 Phantoms have already been released by Corgi. I appreciate there is a lot more to a plastic kit than a diecast model, but they have obviously already done their basic research and design. Watch this space I suppose......

Helicopters and other aircraft being transported on British roads?
Scarlet replied to bootneck's topic in Vehicle Discussion
I've just Googled "Helicopter on a lorry" which brings up a lot of photos of various rotary craft being transported by road. Chinook, Merlin, Apache, Sea King, Mi8 and many more. -
Mine arrived just before Christmas (great service from Tiger Hobbies) and it will be built as the Malcolm Wilson Q8 car. Hopefully we will see some BRC decals from the likes of Reji Model. A Bertie Fisher Toughmac livery would be nice.

de Havilland Canada Chipmunk. 10AEF Woodvale
Scarlet replied to CplPunishment's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Excellent build and a nice bit of reference as I'm building a 10 AEF Chippie at the moment. Good info about the wings as that's my next job. -
Mirage 2000-5F & Mirage 2000D - 1/32 Kittyhawk
Scarlet replied to rom1's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Superb couple of builds. The small details like the seat straps pulled up over the seat head box are spot on, something often missed by modellers.- 48 replies

Ferrari 333SP, BBR, 1/24 scale
Scarlet replied to Fastcat's topic in Ready For Inspection - Vehicles
I built the 1/43 Le Mans Moretti car many years ago. The 333 SP is one of my favorite cars at Le Mans, watching them screaming down from the Dunlop bridge and lighting the brakes up as they braked hard for the Esses (in the days before the current track layout). -
Nice Lightning.👍 Just one observation, the ventral strakes have been fitted the wrong way round.

The forthcoming Vulcan and Hercules sheets have the Microscale Decals logo in the top right corner. -
New Tool Airfix Vulcan 1/72 - Black Buck rebox announced

Have they changed supplier now as Xtradecals used to be printed by Microscale, even used identical packaging. -
The Falcon of Malta- Spitfire VC Special Hobby 1/48
Scarlet replied to GRK's topic in Ready for Inspection - Aircraft
Nice build. I built the same one for my dad as a reminder of when he met George Beurling who was on RnR at a local convent during the war. If you ever read the first edition of Georges book Malta Spitfire, the two young lads he chats to by the river were my dad and uncle.- 22 replies

Some also ran Le Mans cars,1/43 scale.
Scarlet replied to Kitkent's topic in Ready For Inspection - Vehicles
Great builds. The Ferrari 333's were great to watch hammering down from the Dunlop bridge (still a straight run and no big fence in 97) and lighting their brake discs up as they braked for the Esses. I've still got my t-shirt from the Moretti team. -
Painted for the 10th anniversary of the Lightning Training Flight (LTF).
