  1. Lovely job. Nice and clean with just a little weathering. Very impressive. That's something I'm not good at. I tend to weather too heavily and struggle to remove the excess.
  2. Thank you for the comments. I'm quite pleased with the engine bells. I managed to get the ionised metal look I wanted using really heavily thinned orange and blue sprayed around the rims, then sooted the up with some flat black. Yeah, she's too dirty. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong when removing the excess wash. Maybe I'm letting it dry too long? Not sure. Any tips would be great.
  3. I saw rebel moon and I thought it was too derivative. I don't mind an artist wearing their influences on their sleeves, but rebel moon didn't really bring anything new to the movies that inspired it. Obviously its heavily inspired by Seven Samaurai, and Star Wars, but its just not interesting enough. Also, the characters are quite uninteresting. Jimmy Murakamis Battle Beyond The Stars, as remake of seven samaurai, is far superior. Its a film with a miniscule budget, but has characters that you are interested in. Zack Scnyders not great with characters.
  4. I have this, haven't built it yet, but the pieces look well moulded. I was thinking about filling the grid lines but I think I'll leave them, they do look nice.
  5. Oh that's a beautiful paint job. Also,, I LOVE that movie.
  6. Hi all, This was a tough build. I don't know why but this was much harder to build than the standard eagle. And it's 90% the same. Maybe I'm the problem. No, I'm perfect. It must be the universe that;s the problem Anyway here is my 1:72 Eagle 4. I'm not great at painting but I tried to get this one looking ok. It's a little dirtier than I intended. I use an AK enamel wash, leave it to dry for about 20 minutes then remove the excess with a cotton bud and thinner. It always seems to leave more residue than I want. Anyway, it's not perfect, but I like it. Critiques and comments welcome.
  7. Nice job. I really like the subtleties of the camo scheme.
  8. I saw it and had nostalgic goosebumps. I wonder are there any differences in the design of this and the original. The Syracuse engineering section could be a variant.
  9. Beautiful. I love the peeled off paint effect. Well done.
  10. Thank you Thom216. I think in general Revell did a great job with this kit. I wouldn't be a great fan of revells kits, but this one I have to say they really brought their A game. Sure there are minor inaccuracies, like the engine cowls and the rear landing gear (which I wasn't going to use anyway) all in all, she's a beauty. I didn't have any problems with the controversal rough texture. It's so subtle that after a coat of primer and a coat of aluminium, you can't see it any more. I just need to do a few minor touch-ups, add the glass and I'm calling this one done. I thoroughly recommend this kit. C
  11. Then today, I started with some grime. Using Abteilung Starship Filth oil paint, I started streaking, blotching and generally making this Razorcrest a dirty, dirty girl!
  12. Continuing on, I decided to glue it all together before going any further and the top andf the bottom, even though they fit finem did not want to stay together. Luckly an application of lots of rubber bands helped while the glue cured. And yesterday being Easter Sunday, AKA Zombie Jesus Day, I start with the exterior Decals which actually went on way easier than I was expecting. I'm terrible with Decals but these just went on easy as pie. Once the decals were dry, careful application of Games Workshop's Nuln Oil into the recesses and panel lines started the process of griming this puppy up. I love Nuln Oil so much 😍
  13. HI all, I received this last year and was planning on lighting it, but my experimentation in simple electronics lead me to believe that my eyesight is too crap and my fingers are too fat. So I decided to just build the thing. So nothing crazy here, I painted the interior fairly simply because it's really not going to be seen. I didn't do the greatest paintjob ever on the interior and I just roughly followed the paint guide. Painted mostly with Tamiya paints. So then I dry-fitted all the fuselage and gave it a black primer, ditto with the other exterior pieces I then spray the entire exterior with Tamiya Flat Aluminium, then choosing a few panels, not too many, masked them off and spray them an AK steel spray, can't remember exactly which one, just to break up the surface a little. The Steel and the Aluminium are almost the same colour but have different surface characteristics. The photo below is a dry fit after the painting, which I did without the interior. I painted the engine cowl with a mix of the Tamiya Flat Aluminium with a drop of Games Workshop Hashut Copper. I don't recommend this, the Hashut Copper, even a small amount of it, clogged up my airbrush in seconds. But I did manage to get enough paint out to do the cowlings. I then went over it with a Tamiya Blue, thinned very heavily with a Glaze Medium and sprayed it over the ends of the cowl to give it that discolouration. It's a very subtle effect, but I thought it worked pretty well. More to come
  14. This is looking great. I always loved the Liberator. It would be great to get a decent kit of it. That said, I am mulling over the concept of buying a 3D printer...
  15. I should point out that although this kit is really great, as @neil5208 said the bottom gun pod was a freakin' nightmare to get to fit. I sanded, I chopped, I cut bits of the gun off to try to get it to fit and after a couple of hours I just gave up..
  16. I'm gonna call this one done. It's a little dirtier than I intended, but I'm not great with washes. Well, I'm not great at getting the wash off the areas I don't want it. Anyway, I like a dirty girl and she's dirty. I just need to give her a spray of matte to get rid of the glossiness but other than that, she's done. And yes, that is indeed a cat in the background. It's Chester, wondering what the hell his human servant is doing with some stupid piece of plastic when there's cats that obviously need petting.
  17. Masking and Painting chevrons. After I had completed this and took a look I realized that the wing chevrons are oriented the wrong way. It will look odd with the wings folded. But it's ok. I'm fine with it. So now I just need to clean up a few paint leaks and I can move on to the next phase.
  18. This looks amazing Andres. You've inspired me to go back and re-paint my own B-Wing cockpit. I thought it looked fine until I saw your paint job. Yours looks excellent.
  19. Thanks for the encouragement all. neil5208 thanks for the warning. I haven't test fitted the gun into the pod yet. I'll be sure to check it before I glue. Pete In Lincs, Brave? maybe, Idiotic? quite possibly. I have painted a lot of grey models over the last couple of years and I really wanted to do something different. the lack of enough white paint was all the excuse I needed to go nuts with this one. As for the images, all those images are about 150KB give or take. That's nothing. But I take your point, in future I'll compress them a little to get them down around 100KB. Thom216 I have no Idea who the Crimson Drakons are. I assume something from the expanded universe. So yeah, sure. I don't have a backstory here, I just want to paint it with bold colours. Arthur Dent, I haven't seen Rebels. I sold check it out. I think the inspiration started when I saw a photo of Red Tails P-51 with the red wingtips and tail and yellow bands along the wings. I didn't want to go bear aluminium (I have a Razor Crest for that) so I went full red. The yellow and orange trimmings will follow soon.
