  1. Here's a few more pictures of today's progress. The silver is Gunze Super Metallic 2 SM201. I'm loving this stuff. Shoots beautiful dry to the touch in a minute or two tops. I masked it for the OD, stripes and nose with regular hardware store delicate surface tape without issues. I'm really really loving the entire Gunze line of solvent based paints. Stay tuned
  2. Got a bit more done over the weekend. I'm pretty happy with it other than I think my anti glare demarcation line is too low and will not align properly with the train engine decal. I may have to ditch the "Berlin Express" scheme and do a similar scheme in generic markings. Hopefully today I'll get the black stripes on and figure out what to do with the anti-glare demarcation issue. Thanks for looking Ron
  3. Right!? It's like the arousing odd looking girl that you can't figure out what's hot about her. .
  4. After being bummed about trashing my last simple Bf109F-4 trop build near the end of completion, I got back to the bench with this Mustang. I picked another simple to build kit, a Tamiya 1/48. This time around I went with a little more challenging paint job. God willing it's gonna finish as "Berlin Express" Other than adding a flat cockpit floor and gun blast tubes it's gonna be OOB. I'm really happy with it so far. The paint job should be fun. Thanks all for your support. Ron
  5. Nope. Can't trust me with anything technology. I still don't see the extra space. I did get to the site though and didn't see this a/c Thanks for your patience with my stupidity
  6. Does anyone have any information or other photos of this plane. I have this decal sheet and I'm considering this for my next build. Thanks Ron
  7. I inadvertently transferred tube glue all over the upper starboard wing while gluing the landing gear. Too much work to fix. Time to find something else to butcher
  8. Thanks. I didn't go nuts on the weathering for that reason but it's a little heavier than shows here and looks much better in person. I'm not into heavy weathering unless it's really warranted. Personally I think the current fashion trend of accentuating every panel line is unrealistic. I use different methods of weathering. Thanks for your compliment and input. Ron
  9. Had a lot of distractions that stalled my simple palette cleanser build a few months ago. Yesterday and this morning I spent a little time on weathering and finding a concentric tail wheel. Feels good to be modeling again. I don't know why but the weathering gets lost in photos. It much more pronounced in person. Be well Ron
  10. Ha! H-K just announced a new mold 1/48 B-25J! I was being silly. I really like the Monogram kits. I will definitely build them. I have three AM Mitchell's that I will build as well. I have no experience with them so I can't comment whether I like them or not. I will wait for a new tool Mitchell before I build one in NM. I did a monogram in NM and the body work almost made me insane.
  11. Great then what would I do with a dozen old Monogram and Accurate Miniatures Mitchells??
  12. Today I did a little detail painting and weathering. Getting down to the nitty gritty. I got a pile of small parts and a plane on its belly. Soon to put on its feet.
  13. Wow! Looks great! I can't wait to dig into mine soon. I also got the Vector props and nose.
  14. This is what I wound up with Overall pretty happy with it. It's the 48th Hasegawa kit. Thanks all who contributed. Cheers Ron
  15. Beautiful models. I'm a Yank so I'm ok with the horrid Academy kit. Go ahead and throw stones. You'll never reach. Seriously though beautiful job on yours. Kudos! Ron Ps forgive the dust. It's been in the cabinet since the 90s
  16. Not a chance. My shop carpet has more lost photo etch in it than is safe to walk on.
  17. Thanks all! Yeah it seams some were overpainted at the factory and some presumably replacement elements were bare metal. The opening end almost always seems to be painted. The opening end looks permanently and securely attached to the cowling so I wonder how the element was designed to be changed out? I also wonder why they would paint the element? I'd think the paint would clog or at least shorten the element's service life. Eduard gives two different photo etch elements as one is supposedly an early and one late. That's just food for thought. I'm just going to use the kit plastic. I'm like a fat kid, me and PE don't get along. PE is physical education or gym here, if you didn't get the joke. Be well everyone, thanks for the information. Ron
  18. Thanks all. I should have been clearer. I didn't mean what tool to paint the filter with. I meant what colors or color to paint it. Thanks Ron
  19. I need to paint the supercharger intake filter on my Bf109F-4 trop. I left the filter off because it complicated paint the demarcation on the cowling. The demarcation splits to supercharger intake but I'm not sure how to paint the filter itself. It's hard to make out in photos and I don't necessarily trust internet artwork. The kit is the Hasegawa 1:48 Any tips or information would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Ron
  20. Nope. I only put on the large important ones. On a F-4 that would be the rescue arrows, ejection seat triangles, the jet intake warnings and the likes of these. IMO all the other ones clutter up your canvas and look terribly out of scale. Even if they are technically in scale the colors or too stark and the print would be triple bold in real life. Look at photos of the real plane and only put the obvious stencils on your model. I did a 48 scale f-4b decades ago and put on the commensurate nine million stencils. It was a miserably task that didn't look right when done. Now I only put on the larger important stencils. My life is easier and I think my builds are fine without every little stencil. It's a personal choice. This is mine
  21. Pretty much finished the topside weathering today. Thanks for looking Cheers Ron
  22. I believe the fuselage is broken into separate sections and the tail section is actually behind the mid section with the gun pod.
