  1. Momentous! The last piece has just been glued on! The eagle-eyed amongst you will spot the break in the middle of the tail skid/bumper. This happened as I cut it off. FFS! We're not done yet though. Just needs some paint touch-ups...
  2. This morning (assuming we can get in) I'll be at IWM Duxford. I'm aware of the walkaround photos, but if there's a detail you'd like a photo of just reply here and I'll endeavour to get what you need.
  3. All I can say is... The best of all the good luck in the world to you... Honestly I've got absolutely no idea if this contraption with blue tack supporting it and blue tack holding the fins with cocktail sticks is going to work...
  4. Contrary to the 'no-updates evidence', I have not lost interest in this model. Just not touched it for about two weeks since the front strut assembly for the floats broke off while I was testing placing the plane on to them so that I could glue the side fins in to place. It's all so fragile!
  5. We know, that's why we're coming back. Loved it last time. We stayed in Belem. Can't wait to return.
  6. Welcome. Perhaps we'll walk past each other when my wife and I come over to Lisbon for a few days in May.
  7. Good grief I think we can safely say those holes on the model are not to scale! They're flipping huge! I thought they were holes awaiting cementing of another part...
  8. ...but I bought myself a present yesterday (£15 seemed a pretty good price):
  9. Do you other Twin Otter builders have these mysterious extra holes in the underside of the engine cowlings?
  10. So, where do you guys go to get your replacement decals sheets?
  11. Dave Turns out all I had to do was check the box more carefully. The instruction sheet is there, plus the decals, and the printed flag. Thank you for your offer though, and the interesting detail about the actual shape of the stern! Jeff
  12. I knew that up in the loft I had a 1/32 scale General Dynamics F-16A kit from circa 1977/8 (https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235107751-up-in-the-loftan-f16-and-a-bonus/), but when I went to retrieve it I also found this: Sadly, no decals (if it ever had any) and no instructions.
  13. I knew that up in the loft I had a 1/32 scale General Dynamics F-16A kit from waaaaaay back (circa 1977/8). Today I reckoned it was time to retrieve it. Seems I'd made some decent progress with the cockpit... (I doubt the colours of chosen for the various button and dials in anyway matches reality!) ...and the pilot, complete with dodgy porn-star 'tache! You might have noticed, the poor fellow is missing his left arm. Also missing: the decals sheet and the instructions! Bit of a downer, though I believe I found a PDF of the instructions in another BM thread. So what's the bonus? A forgotten model kit of a sailing ship 'The Flying Cloud' by Heller, sitting on top of the F16 box. More of that in the Maritime forum... https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235107752-up-in-the-loftan-f16-and-a-forgotten-ship/
  14. Paint and (wet) filler really don't like each other do they?! Maybe next time I'll try a bit of masking tape either side. Anyway, done!
  15. Yeah, you're right. The top gaps at least. The gaps on the underside of the wings will have to stay, it'll just be too fiddly to do them.
  16. I see there's the General Discussion section, but that's described as for "...non-modelling related issues...". Is there not one for General Modelling chat? I was going to post about finding two old models in my loft (when I thought there was only one), but one's a military jet and the other is a sailing ship, so I can't really honestly pick either of the Aircraft Modelling and Maritime Modelling sections unless I post twice (and nobody wants that! ) So is it me, or is it the Forum?
  17. Welcome, Martyn! Also, another upvote for Pink Floyd here...
  18. Is this how planes are constructed in real life?
  19. The first coat of the anti-glare marking has been applied: Why is the fuselage on its side? Because I couldn't bear the idea of only doing that this evening (although I did also use a little of the satin black to fill in some visible bare plastic behind the engine exhausts), so I glued on one of the rear wings: Sometimes that's all we can do. Xbox time!
  20. The first mask was far too flimsy and so liable to being mishaped. Here's v2 Here goes!
  21. Decals done. First application of a template to paint the black anti-glare marking...
